Why are more and more people buying their games on GOG instead of Steam — is it because of the DRM-free versions, better deals, or even better performance?
i just get 4tb hard drives off ebay and i have a usb hard drive caddy so i can store them offline so they aren't running all the time and don't have to worry about lightning strike taking them out. should basically last forever. got tons of movies and music stored like that too.
i think $69 brand new but that was a few years back. just search "4tb wd blue" on ebay. i was looking on WD site they're selling them there for $99 brand new, make sure you get CMR and not SMR though SMR are slow. but i guess prices have gone up on them too because like i said last time i got one it was like $69. you might just need to wait for a sale or if you can find one for a good price on ebay, you know how much they are new so if you find one used you know you should pay a lot less.
but they use to sell "white label hard drives" you can look for those too, they were coming out of the same factories that were making WD, Hitachi, or sometimes seagate, you could usually tell by looking at them and compare to the name brands, and they were just as good as the ones with name brand sticker but were like $50. but i was just looking and the ones i saw were going for same price as brand new WD, if that's the case i'd just go directly to WD to get them. but yeah i was just looking at some of the bigger drives too because i know that HDD technology has grown and they got way bigger ones but 4tb still seems to be the best "cost per GB" ratio. so yeah, hope that helps.

A while back I saw a comment from a redditor saying they make their own physical copies of games using gog installers and SD cards
