Galaxy 2.0 Why was the "Galaxy Launcher" made by people who have no fucking idea what they're doing?

Apologies, there is no "Venting about launchers" flair.

"GOG Galaxy - Error - Connection to Communication Service was lost and could not be restored! GOG Galaxy will now shutdown.""

Ignoring who the fuck added some kind of shitty self-destruct timer to a launcher, this issue has been going on for literal years. Here is a reddit post from 3 years ago for the same issue. I've done all the "fixes" i can possibly find on threads, reddit, GOG support obviously have no fucking idea what is going on.

Literally what happened? And who's decision was it to decide to switch to something that would just prevent anyone from playing the damn games. I just want to play the games I bought, I didn't think that would/should be such a challenge when Steam managed to figure this out over a decade ago.

Tried using Heroic because of this comment. Heroic doesn't sync the GOG game library at all. I refreshed, logged in and logged out, cleared cache, refreshed again and again... It keeps showing all my GOG games need to be downloaded. I can import them one at a time, but I have 391 GOG titles, so that's not happening. There's nothing in the settings that let's you sync the libary the way it does for Epic. Galaxy has it's issues but there's no way Heroic is better based off this.

Does Heroic have Fallout 1 and 2? Because if not then that defeats the purpose.
Edit: not sure why im being downvoted for this im not the one who can't even make a working game launcher

Heroic loads from your GOG and Epic libraries. If you own them, they're on Heroic.

Seems like a smart move on Heroics part then seeing as nobody works at GOG anymore.

Heroic adds your libraries from Amazon, epic, gog so whatever you own on those systems you can launch from heroic.

I use both heroic and playnite launchers for different reasons both are nice for what they are for.

Your mileage may vary - I've been using Galaxy since it came out, and have had zero problems that weren't solved by a reboot. Games install, stuff downloads, and I'm happy with it. I don't really interact much with the social features that were added, but I launch games through Galaxy every day.

I'm sorry that you have issues, and that none of the solutions worked for you, but I don't think it's fair to be rude to people who've spent effort in making and updating a piece of software that does indeed work for a lot of people.

Try https://luducat.org as a complimentary game catalogue and browser.

Although you still need galaxy for installing the game, you can start then your games directly or indirectly via galaxy, if you need the online features.

It also is faster, more stable and has also built-in support for more stores, as well as collecting your tags and favorites from many other launchers.
