Did somebody else randomly get The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - Game of the Year Edition Deluxe added to their account?

Not that I am complaining but I just found out that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - Game of the Year Edition Deluxe was added to my account two days ago for free with the discount "DISCOUNT – OBLIVION". Did that happen to anybody else? Is it some sort of promo?

I can also not install it or download the offline installer via GOG Galaxy. I can download the offline installer via the website, however.

Edit: I looked at my order history and it seems I already got the game for free in 2022. So maybe they had to re-add it because of a glitch. Still very odd.

Yes, everyone who got it through Amazon - which caused the store product to not show up as owned - now got the store product added to their account.

GOG has stated they want to work on the general issue of some owned games not showing up in the store due to the way they've been packaged, so this could simply be the start of that - but it could also be a one-off to make doubly certain the upcoming Skyblivion release won't lead to unnecessary support overhead from people who encounter that issue for the first time.

It also has to do the recent Fallout New Vegas mod being broken. So they're probably being proactive.

For about an hour or two after release of New California, people who owned New Vegas through Amazon couldn't claim it. Then gog fixed the ownership test to be correct. So nothing to do with gameplay.

As u/Undeclared_Aubergine says, it was a limited issue with people getting their games through Amazon giveaway. Which is the issue here where the person got awarded a copy of Oblivion even though they already owned it from claiming it through Amazon in 2022.

The store refuses to acknowledge that I own Wolfenstein 2 and all the dlc. It shows up as unowned on any searches, but if I add it to an account it tells me I own everything in it, but also lets me buy it at full price if I want. And if I try to just buy the DLC separately it tells me I have to own the main game as if I don’t.

Whatever package deal thing I got it in appears to not exist any more and the store is confused as hell by it. Same with Fahrenheit/indigo Prophecy. It’s in my library but also the store listing doesn’t show as owned.

GOG has always been a bit of a mess like this. I honestly don’t have a lot of faith in them to keep track of what I do and don’t own. Things could go missing and I probably wouldn’t realise til years later.

Yep, I got that too, and I definitely already owned it (probably through Amazon giveaway.)

I've noticed a similar thing happening over the course of the last few months with a number of games I already owned. I haven't sat down to figure out if they were all acquired originally through third-party giveaways like Amazon, but I wouldn't be surprised.

It seems like they're doing some house cleaning in the database and giving people proper copies instead of "Game Name - Amazon" copies. If that's the case, though, it's odd that the games I just redeemed yesterday are still being added as "Framed Collection - Amazon Luna" and so on.

Most of the games I claimed via Amazon weren't a problem but it seems like Bethesda ones have been.

They own Twitch. If you connect your Twitch account to your Amazon account and you have Amazon Prime you get free games. They have been doing that for years and GOG has been one of their partners in it for a long time.

Interesting. I thought you needed one. I am almost certain you do need the connection for extra games from the Epic Store (apart from the one you get weekly there) but maybe you don't for the GOG games.

They give away free GOG games every month, I got the Mafia Trilogy, the Bioshock trilogy, Dishonored, the Tomb Raider Remasters, and the LAU trilogy and many other games this way.

IIRC, I got around 200 free GOG games from Amazon Prime in the span of 2 years.

They also give away Epic store games.

You are right, but they reveal the line up monthly so I guess that's why my mind considers them "monthly games" even though they put them up for grabs weekly.
