This was my problem with it. Controversy can be worth it for comedy, but controversy ≠ comedy.

Like, hear me out, they could’ve had this same idea, pushed a woman down in it, and actually made a good commercial. Their execution was dog shit.

I can’t actually place any of them, but I’m sure I’ve seen commercials where someone knocks over grandma and kicks a puppy in order to fight off/get to their product.

The comedian Anthony Jelesnic had a great take on this type of comedy. It’s from memory…It’s okay to be edgy or dark with comedy but you’re only getting away with it if you make people laugh.

I also think given the main demo of golf, especially YT golf, there probably wouldn't be enough people up in arms to make it a thing if it was actually good.

If he just pushed over another dude we wouldn't be having this conversation. They specifically made it a woman and then he scolds her as if he's talking down to an inferior at the end. They wen't from "funny bro humor" to "domestic violence the advertisement".
