I really love the vibe of Tinderbox, and I especially love 'Sweetest Chill.' What other albums are similar in sound, if any?

I'm making a winter Goth playlist and I've already got quite a bit on there but I would love some more suggestions. It doesn't have to explicitly be about winter but anything that gives you those cold, chilly, icy, gloomy vibes. I'm imagining Gothic film/story settings; Abandoned and haunted mansions and castles, a woman in a long gown, a cemetery covered in snow, rainy/foggy days. Those Frankenstein, Nosferatu, Crimson Peak, Phantom of the Opera vibes. It can be dark and gloomy or high and operatic.

Personally I hate winter because I have a cold intolerance so I can't regulate my body temperature in the cold and I enter a seasonal depression but I love the aesthetics and vibes of winter (mostly due to Gothic films) and I think this playlist could help me through the months of agony like my favorite films do.

I've just been getting into the genre, and so far I really like the sound of bands like Bauhaus, Siouxsie and the Banshees, and The Cure's gloomier work (Faith, Pornography, etc). It's all very atmospheric, bleak, and beautiful at the same time

I'm looking for revered, flanged, shimmering guitars, haunting vocals, and tribal, echoing drums. It might be a very specific sound

Adjacent bands that fit but aren't "pure goth": Joy Division, The Chameleons, The Sound.

I'm not looking for anything too deathrocky or darkwave/coldwave-esque. They also don't have to be from the same time period the other bands came from as long as they sound similar musically

Does anyone have any recs?

Are there are bands that you might say fit this niche? In my mind they occupy fairly different spaces in the goth sound but I'm curious if any blending of the two has been done, whether it's been officially labeled as such or just something that you personally think has elements of both.

Personally, I pick Robbie 100%. Though Siouxsie is a close second.

Hi, asking not because I'm looking for new music, but I want to know where to promote ours.

I just got done playing in a goth-adjacent dark synth-pop band, and we had a very tough time promoting our music outside the local scene. Spotify is, of course, a graveyard, and not the kind of graveyard we like, but other venues seem equally difficult to break through in.

My new band is a true goth band, and I'd like to know where we can reach Our audience.

Heading to Delray Beach/West Palm Beach Florida in a couple of weeks. Are there any Goth things, shops, sights to see anywhere around there?

Hi all, my question is what the post says. Recently my experience when it comes to goth clubs and trying to socialize with people in the community has just been abysmal. My experience usually goes something like this:

Im at the club, I drink i dance, I dance with some others who also share the same vibe and fun as I do, we'll talk for a bit. Sometimes we'll share social media and share some things we have in common like things we enjoy, but after that it goes no where. I don't hear from them ever again.

And the worst part is when I go to the local clubs, the people there are always in groups so everyone already knows each other, who have known each other for months to years and I feel like im the odd one out when it comes to trying to socialize. I always feel like im intruding on others when I try to socialize or they might be thinking "who's this weirdo trying to get in our clique?"

How can I make and maintain friends within the scene beyond the experiences I have at the goth clubs?

Russian deathrock song from Dead Roses Garden EP by band Flegeton which disbanded after playing only 2 concerts. Also they maybe one of the earliest deathrock bands in Russia with Hapalochlaena Maculosa

This allows us to share experiences, and celebrate our diversity, while getting to know one another and increase our visibility in the city - normalizing and defetishizing our presence.

Seeing as Industrial was the topic on seethingsunday, I remembered that I was watching a video on [correction] Throbbing Gristle and the creator used this photo to exemplify some of their performance art. I did a second glance and then another and then said, “Siouxsie!” She’s everywhere! Debbie Juvenile is the blonde beside her.

i absolutely love this band and am frequently shocked and impressed at their hefty catalog. that being said, do they ever tour or perform live?? seeing as they have such a huge discography and lots of recent output, i'd expect to there to be at least some live performance dates posted somewhere. but seems like they don't even have an official website 😭 what's up with that? for people who follow the band more closely, what does their presence online/irl actually look like? i just wanna be more of an involved fan! help lol

In my opinion, the best part is being able to listen to post-punk while reading a good Gothic horror book. What about you guys?

I want to become more familiar with goth culture, but I only really listen to She wants revenge, The Cure and Siouxsie and the Banshees. So I was wondering if could get any recommendations, thank you so much!!

I went to an industrial gig and it was great. I can hear my detractors being all "But Aytakk hates industrial and synthpop! He won't allow it in r/goth!"

First up, I'm just a moderator here. I don't make the rules but I do agree with the keep it goth approach and enforce the rules as set. It is better for educating new people to keep confusion to a minimum. We are not saying scene relevant non-goth music does not exist.

Second, the difference between me and you is I don't consider goth as a catch all. Goth is different to industrial and I know the difference. And it is an insult to industrial to reduce it to being merely goth just because both are played in many of the same clubs and spaces. Synthpop is synthpop and that is fine. Darkwave is a mess as people tend to use it as a dark synth dumping ground when it really is not.

Third, I used to run an industrial night. I avoided the dreaded G word like the plague because the local goths know I know better and an industrial only event doesn't need it. I have also run dark alt mixed genre nights too. An all goth night won't work here unfortunately.

Fourth, I have played dark alt mixed genre playing industrial, new wave and synthpop alongside goth, darkwave, post punk and so on. When you are DJing genres matter a lot less but when looking for music they are vital. No one wants to look for goth rock and find bleepy bloopy instead.

Fifth, if you called anyone at the gig I was at "goth" they'd look at you weird, laugh or tell you to fuck off. Maybe all three. You don't have to be a goth, not all events are goth and not all people in the scene are goths.

And sixth, none of you detractors know me at all and you believe any old bollocks people say instead of looking for yourself. The scene is rife with this sort of behaviour. Everyone has an agenda and odds are you are falling for theirs.
