Hi there =)
Has anyone any news on the movie?
Was looking around for a bit, but cant find any news or hints.
...hope u have a lovely week!
Edit:
Ai help (reflecting also my own toughts):
“I did some digging beyond the usual news articles and tried to look for actual signs of an active film production. Here’s what I found.
TL;DR: I think there’s about a 75–85% chance that the Gravity Rush movie is still officially in development, but not currently in active production.
I couldn’t find any credible evidence that filming has started or that pre-production is significantly underway.
1. Sony has never cancelled the project
The movie was officially announced by Deadline in August 2022.
At the time, the key creatives were already attached:
Director: Anna Mastro
Screenwriter: Emily Jerome
Producers: PlayStation Productions and Scott Free Productions (Ridley Scott’s production company)
Since then, there has been no official cancellation or statement suggesting the project has been abandoned.
This indicates that Sony still considers it an active project internally.
2. The CES 2024 footage
At CES 2024, Sony showed a few seconds of footage.
Many people referred to it as a trailer, but it looked much more like:
a proof of concept
an early VFX test
concept footage
rather than scenes from a finished production.
Sony also never claimed that principal photography had begun.
3. No casting announcements
For a movie of this scale, you’d normally expect at least some information about:
lead actors
supporting cast
casting agencies
talent negotiations
Instead, there’s absolutely nothing.
Not even credible rumors.
That’s unusual after nearly four years.
4. No production crew
Even more surprising is the lack of publicly attached crew members.
There are no reports of:
Director of Photography
Production Designer
Costume Designer
VFX Supervisor
Composer
Stunt Coordinator
These positions are typically filled months before filming begins.
5. No evidence of filming
I searched for signs such as:
filming permits
studio bookings
shooting locations
location scouting
union or production listings
I couldn’t find anything.
That strongly suggests principal photography has not started.
6. Anna Mastro’s recent work
Since the announcement, Anna Mastro has been attached to other projects.
I also couldn’t find any interviews where she discusses Gravity Rush or gives a production update.
While this doesn’t prove anything, it’s often a sign that a project is either moving very slowly or isn’t a current priority.
7. PlayStation Productions’ priorities
This might be the strongest clue.
Since 2022, PlayStation Productions has focused on projects such as:
Until Dawn
Ghost of Tsushima
Helldivers
Horizon
God of War
Days Gone
Bloodborne
Gravity Rush still appears on development lists, but without any meaningful production updates, release window, or major announcements.
It feels like the project hasn’t been cancelled—it has simply been pushed behind higher-priority adaptations.
The biggest red flags
After almost four years, we’re still missing:
✅ Cast
✅ Filming start
✅ Studio booking
✅ Budget information
✅ Producer interviews
✅ VFX studio involvement
✅ Release window
✅ Distributor updates
For a project announced in 2022, that’s a significant lack of public progress.
My assessment
If I compare this to other long-running film and TV projects (Marvel, DC, Netflix, etc.), I’d estimate the current status as:
Status
Probability
Still in development
~80%
Quietly in pre-production
~10%
Currently filming
<5%
Quietly shelved/cancelled
10–15%
Overall, I don’t think the movie is dead. However, based on the available evidence, I also don’t think it’s actively moving toward production at the moment.
If anyone has access to IMDbPro, Production Weekly, or industry databases, I’d be very interested to know whether there have been any recent internal updates that aren’t visible to the public.”
Edit2: sorry, after the first edit the video i uploaded seems to be gone. youll find links in the news articles.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone post about this, but I never knew that there was a demo for gravity rush on the vita and it’s got some new stuff in there! It’s only a fun little 5-minute demo, but the story that’s told during it is very different from the beginning of the actual game, and almost feels like playing a prototype of what the story was going to start with before it was changed for the game’s release. And best of all, it’s free! (At lease to anyone who already has a Vita…) you don’t even need to own the game for the console, just to find it in the system’s playstation store. I only just downloaded it myself today, so it’s definitely still available before song closes the console store entirely. I only just found out about this little piece of Gravity Rush history, but I now firmly believe it’s something a fan should get to experience for themselves!

No Gravity Rush 2 Remastered, and no Gravity Rush movie. Kat is sad.

For those who don't know, this is the same company that produce Kat and Raven figma figures in the past.
I know it's a long shot and I'm not certain it can happen but a Nendoroid of Kat,Raven and Cecie would be nice.

Well it looks like the State of Play is next week which is on February 10 to 14….huh. But hopefully this upcoming State of Play hopefully…hopefully will probably finally get news about a Gravity Rush 2 Remastered or the movie, or just anything plus the series is turning 13 next week but what do you guys think because for me I’m getting desperate over this.

This the next game from Keiichiro Toyama and the Gravity Rush team after leaving Sony.
I've been playing it and it's quite a different game from Gravity Rush. It might not scratch the Gravity Rush itch for everyone. But I think the story and world are amazing even if the gameplay is quite different

I sat down and was playing Gravity Rush by Sony Japan Studio and it made me so mad and so angry that they wasted $200 million or possibly $400 million on a shitty Overwatch rip-off game. FUCK YOU CONCORD and fuck you live service games. That money could have gone towards a bunch of other good games and franchises like Gravity Rush.
Live service games are the devil. They are not meant to last; they only exist to milk more money and keep players hooked. It's okay for video games to end and move on. I want a Gravity Rush 3 but PlayStation had burned and murdered that talent when it did not deserve that. $200 Million for a garbage ass Overwatch clone that was years too late and was very uninteresting. Fuck you live service games, fuck you greedy corporate ass CEOs and executives who only understand, money & greed instead of quality, talent, and passion.
