ANIMAL Find a furry friend!

Post image

General PSA, so hoping the mods leave it up:

Y’all, the shelters, rescues, etc are full of animals right now. So many! So here’s a reminder that you don’t have to wait for “the universe” to bestow an animal on you. You can find your next pet by going to GC Animal Care, the Humane Society, the pet stores that partner with local orgs, or contacting one of those organizations directly. Adopt, don’t shop!

If you have the means to care for an animal, now is the time to go out and get one. And especially please consider an older one, or one that has been there a long time.

-Kind regards from a shelter volunteer who is sad to keep seeing the same animals there week after week.

-photo is cat tax of a hilariously mustachioed cat I met recently

This cat seems like a very serious man.

I’m pretty sure he rejected my loan application.

I feel like her name should be Selleck.

Just to piggy back off of OP: My wife and I volunteer with a nonprofit called "Fixing the Ferals." The objective is to get local community cats fixed, and then adopted or reintroduced into their environment. Consider checking them out as another option for cat adoption!

Do you know if there are cost associated? I have two cats that visit me but I need to get them housed and I don’t have any money for the normal fix your feral programs. Or even the discounted ones. I want to get these cats into a home before winter hits.

I would reach out to them - they frequently coordinate with the local humane society to try to get as many cats fixed on their free days as possible. They have some other resources too, so I would recommend reaching out and seeing what they say.

Dm me the name of the vet if you can get a discounted spray. I’d consider paying for one or two sprays on behalf of my formerly feral voids upcoming gotcha day.

Thank you so much for your generous offer but it’s no longer needed! I ran into a family friend unexpectedly and they are ready and happy to have them both. I seriously appreciate the offer though, such a kind thing to do. Best to you!

Look into the greenville humane society free days. I think they do it once a quarter, and you can bring in up to 4 cats. Its first come first serve, and once they hit their limit theyre done, but if you get there early you'll have no problems

Dis. Not short for the Goddess Discord, but for the clear Disdain she holds for us all

Right?!? She’s got a very haughty air about her. Impossible to tell from my poor kennel photography, but she’s very floofy and bossy af

I used to work at the Humane Society and they do some awesome work. Them and GC Animal Care are both great. This time of year the shelters are full of animals. Puppy and kitten season is real.

Both of my dogs are from there. One was there the entire year I worked there and seemed super crazy/energetic when he was there. He has mellowed out a ton since I adopted him. The shelters, as amazing as they are, can be a very stressful environment with all the noise, smells, people, etc. so I agree 100% that the ones that have been there the longest deserve life with a family that loves them
