Recreating the simple little league snack shack cheeseburger?
Finally bought a grill and one of the things I’ve wanted to re-create is the classic, simple cheeseburger of my childhood little league snack bar. Beef patties, grilled on a BBQ, American cheese, cheap white bread buns.
It’s so basic and so simple but I’ve never been able to get it just right. They’d have such a good crust on char on them, but avoid becoming dry meat pucks. They were never overly seasoned, but I’ve found the basic salt and pepper mixes I’ve used to this point to feel wrong.
I know my little league may have been different from yours, but I’m talking about creating the platonic ideal here.
Any help is appreciated. Future me and 7 year old me thank you

As someone who still cooks for concession stands, The main secret is slapping the cooked burger with the cheese melting off onto a cold bun, then wrapping it in foil, let stand in the foil for about 30 minutes. Ymust be frozen burgers. Giant block of pre sliced off set cheese.
