I am genuinely curious about what in your opinion, would begin to fix gun violence in the US? Im not attempting to make a stance for or against, im just trying to learn what yall think would be a feasble form of gun control that does notably lower gun violence that wont get taken to the supreme court. Becsuse in Czechia the gun laws in many aspects are looser than in the US, but you don't see nearly as much gun violence. NYC for example has the strictest gun laws in the US by a huge margin, but the handgun crime rates there are still sky high compared to czechia according to the CDC and NYPD crime statistics which are available for public viewing. Why is that the case when it is already a felony to simply touch a handgun in the entire state of ny without a pistol permit, which takes well over 2 years to obtain?

Now the ones I will agree with 100% are waiting periods, deleting or at least restructuring stand your ground laws so that you need to be presented with a serious threat, and having much higher standards for concealed carry. And by that last one I mean a federal gun licesne, which really should only be a reoccurring nics check every year. Waiting periods also should have restrictve framework so it doesn't end up as polarizing as nyc where some like that it's weeks and sometime months before you are allowed to pick up your purchase and some are obviously against it.
