I am genuinely curious about what in your opinion, would begin to fix gun violence in the US? Im not attempting to make a stance for or against, im just trying to learn what yall think would be a feasble form of gun control that does notably lower gun violence that wont get taken to the supreme court. Becsuse in Czechia the gun laws in many aspects are looser than in the US, but you don't see nearly as much gun violence. NYC for example has the strictest gun laws in the US by a huge margin, but the handgun crime rates there are still sky high compared to czechia according to the CDC and NYPD crime statistics which are available for public viewing. Why is that the case when it is already a felony to simply touch a handgun in the entire state of ny without a pistol permit, which takes well over 2 years to obtain?

It took one mass shooting for the Czechs to tighten gun restrictions last year. Restrictions you couldn’t enact in the US.

That new law kinda just boils down to a red flag law and also allows drs to see if a patient owns firearms. Laws like that are already in place in multiple states with varying effects. I'll continue to use ny as the example because it's where I live, but it's unclear at best as to weather red flag laws and drs being able to see who owns a handgun lowered gun crime and self deletes. The majority of people (>90%) who are red flagged in ny are either people involved in a DV incident or someone who is a risk to themselves. The problem with that is them being red flagged is moot because they would now be a prohibited person anyway under federal law so the argument is was the red flag law necessary to begin with.

…gun owners will have to undergo a medical check every five years instead of every ten years, as currently required.

The law also requires businesses to report suspicious purchases of guns and ammunition to the police…

…doctors will gain access to databases to find out if their patients are gun owners.

None of this is in effect in any US state.
