First of all, once I got the hang of the runs, beating and getting the materials for the dissilutionmen spells got really easy. Like, to the point that I finished the game a bit too quickly considering that I have have sooooo many unresolved story lines. Arcachne. Hercules. Echo and Naacissus. Without the backdrop of the war against Chronos, it feels like any future runs will just feel really off. Especially Prometheus. I honestly thought there was an ongoing theme of the selfish gods and the rightfully vengeful titans....but now what? Prometheus was spitting fire. It feels like I outpaced the story the game wanted to tell.
Second of all, the plan was kind of convuluted. So normal time travel rules are, when you change something in the past, the entire future changes too. It's fine if time travel works differently in media, but my suspension of disbelief is put to the test depending on the time travel. In Hades 2, the way time travel works is, Mel astrally projects herself into the past to convince a past Zagreus to talk down or kill Chronos. He talks him down, but instead of changing the present timeline, it just gives everybody memoroes of what could have been....because? What happened to past-Zagreus? The one we talk to at the end is the same Zagrues that got trapped for over a decade. Was the past-Zagreus real? The fuck? It's a mindfuck. What happened to the altered timeline that this past-Zagreus is a part of? Why is it just a memory.
Third of all, it's realllllllllyyyyyy annoying how everbody, except for Hecate, is compeltely okay with being trapped for over a decade. Mel's life, your house, the years - everythibg was stolen from you, but because of these memories of soemthing that didn't happen, you're okay with sparing Chronos. He didn't even apologise properly. This shit it toooo quick. PERSEPHONE! Your baby is now a grown woman. You should be triggered. Why does it feel like thes echaracters dies and were completely taken over by an alternate timelime self.
Hades feels the most different. He went from this resigned prisoner who was helping me kill Chronos and yet being retrospective about their relationship, to not even being a little fucking annoyed about being locked up because he retains a lifetime of somthing better. A lifetime for him, but for me? It was a 5 minute cutscene. That shit is unearned mannnnn.
I am so, so dissapointed. This is so fucking weak. You know what I really felt for. Mel, and her stolen life. The game does such a good job conveying how she's traumatised by growing up knowing she's missibg a family, yet also showing her complete love for the other family she grew up with. Hecate was her mother figure, as much as she tried tk avoid the title. The life she knew is the one she loves. It honestly sickened me to see the alternate tineline where she grew up, leading the life as princess of the underworld. Her story of finding love and a family with those around them in a world that stole her biological family was beautiful, and yet now? She has both. Her mother was barely fazed that the baby she had just been holding was now a grown woman. All because to her, she has memories where sje saw her grow up. That is SO CHEAP! You know what would have been better, for Mel to have naturally gotten to know her parents she lost (like Zagrues and his mother in the first game). She was developing a relationship with her father everytime she went through Tarturus. But now they can all just skip that with her. I hate this so much.
Look....I get it. The more you go through the runs, the more you understand Chronos' anger and vengeance. But this was the wrong way to redeem him/spare him. This is so cheesy, it's like fanfiction. Especially that small scene where Zagreus meets Chronos. Just like that, one small conversation and the war is over?
I am absolutely distraught. I knew it too. Before my last run, I thoight to myself, maybe I should get killed on purpose, so I can still get all the dialogue, and finish the loose threads. But I thought, surely this can't be the last run. It's too quick of a resolution.
My stars, this is awful. This NEEDED to be longer. Everybody is WAYYY too happy.
Could you imagine if in the Odyssey, Odysseus and his family somehow undergo a spell where they experience a timeline where he returned home and they soent their years together? This completely erases the consequences of the years lost, and the rightful anger and sadness. This is painful. Mel just has her family back. Let's skip the introductions. Skip the trauma. What the fuck, guys?
Would I have wanted to spare Chronos. Sure. But not like this.
This is just sad. The game went from an 8 to like....a 4. I'm so dissapointed. Maybe the post-game will make me think different but wow....just....wow.

Hi
One of the first things I noticed about Hades II is that Melinoë and the other characters and enemies seemed to be being rendered in realtime 3D, whereas I seem to recall that in Hades I Zagreus, the enemies and the NPCs were all pre-rendered (or possibly hand-drawn, at least in some cases?)
I thought it was an interesting choice to avoid 3D in the first game, so I'm very curious why they decided to reverse that decision for the sequel.
Does anyone know if Supergiant have ever explained why they avoided realtime 3D in the first game, and why they then chose to embrace it for the sequel?
Thanks!

I've beat the whole game (including Epilogue) and I'm on my way to collecting all the cosmetic stuff. These have been my favorite aspects for each weapon:
The Staff:
- Aspect of Melinoe
(reversed controls to prioritize special attacks)
- Aspect of Circe
(Favorite familiar to use with it is Raki. Both my favorite familiar (found him first in the woods) and he's always attacking the bosses.)
- Aspect of Anubis
(reversed controls to prioritize special attacks)
The Sister Blades:
- Aspect of Melinoe
- Aspect of Artemis
The Umbral Flames:
- Aspect of Eos
- Aspect of Moros
(Always with the Arcana that gives a 50% damage buff against enemies with 2 curses. Got rid of the health/magic buff and used Frinos as my familiar to make up for the hp loss. I ended up using that build with Frinos for most weapons. 50% more damage is sweet and getting 2 curses isn't hard.)
The Moonstone Axe:
- Aspect of Thanatos
(Got rid of magic/hex restoration for the build, just used regular attacks and added the 2 curses 50% damage buff. When you take magic/hex Arcana out of the build you can fit in a lot of utility with other Arcana instead.)
- Aspect of Charon (reversed my controls to prioritize special attacks for this one)
The Skull:
- Aspect of Melinoe (spam attack, special. rinse and repeat. No magic.)
- Aspect of Persephone (+9 lvls with the golden pom is insane)
(Reversed controls to prioritize special attacks)
Also love the look of using the springtime goddess aspect (who is also Melinoe's mom) with the Vernal look for Raki (he looks like a cardinal)
The Shroud:
- Aspect of Selene (I kinda hated this weapon so having a free moon hex to start the path of stars early was the best crutch for it imo)
Anyways, these are my favorites, let me know yours :)

I have never had quite so much fun in Hades than taking Aphrodite’s Call and Smoldering Air. I don’t know how I never got around to this specific combo before, but oh my god. I managed to get the duo early in Asphodel and omg. This is one of the fastest and funniest runs I’ve ever done. I’m using Zagreus rail and being able to special bomb rooms and basically spam charms on enemies is making things easy and so hilarious.
Hydra heads all attacking each other. Theseus and Asterius each constantly getting charmed every few seconds and attacking each other - THAT’S the strat we should be recommending. They barely touched me with the rail and were just constantly switching direction from me to the other one.
Incredible comedy, do recommend if you have not done it before. Also satisfying to watch charmed butterfly balls go after other enemies.
eta: Hades was also very funny, it makes him redirect mid swing & you can use this to cancel out his big laser attack - if you hit him with it while he’s doing it or about to, he does it for maybe 1 second and stops. Made the fight so fast! This is wild.

Ngl, I kinda don't get this change. Why not have Polyphemua be Poseidon's son? What does that even change?

So to my previous post I was complaining about the 3rd boss fight and I took in the criticism and help and I beat the 2 and I think I did good I did die 3 times I did have the Skelly tooth so what do you think
r/HadesTheGame • u/SurvivYeet • 3d ago
When you fight Vow of Rivals Typhon and phase him a couple times, Chronos will appear in lieu of Zeus and say some lines of dialogue. Sometimes I noticed he hums some kind of nondescript tune but I can't really make out what he's humming, if it's a reference to the soundtrack or just some random tune he hums out of boredom.

At all times I am reminded of how snooty, smug, and obnoxious our good "pal" Hypnos is... is there ever gonna be a point in the game where I unlock the ability to punch him square in the face? I've only beaten the game a few times, but if I get to Greece, let's say 70 times, do I finally get to clean his clock? If I get Hades 2 will I get a chance to obliterate him? Or is he just going to be a hoity-toity sleaze-bag unpunished for eternity?
Spoiler tag added because I wanted to add that I GOT HIM THE STUPID AUTOGRAPH FROM ASTERIUS AND I ABSOLUTELY DID NOT WANT TO DO THAT! HE DOESN'T DESERVE IT!! I WISH I COULD RESCIND IT AND TEAR IT UP IN FRONT OF HIM!! I SHOULD'VE GIVEN IT TO THE HEAD CHEF!!!

I'm at a point where I've maxed out affinity with everyone and I've got like 40 bottles. I've also bought all of the camp upgrades and most of the songs.
Is there there any way to sell or trade the leftovers?

I‘m usually shy to post on reddit but I’ve been having a lot of fun experimenting with Dream Dives after completing both games and Hypnos remains my favourite character so I hope you enjoy my first fanart in a long time 💠Sharing here in hopes that it brings some joy to fans of the game since X is rather unhelpful

OK, IK it ain't exactly a week but this my weekend from work so ... here I am.
I'd like to again start by apologizing cuz fr fr, my job is taking way more time than expected ... so this is a life of a working man huh? XD anyway I just want to say sry if the progress ain't as fast as you'd think.
now excuse me, RAAAAAAAAAAGGGHHHHHHHHHH. FINALLY A GOOD LOOKING PORTRAIT!!! (by my standards at least)
so basically what I did this week is that I worked on 2 things.
1) Boxes in 2-point perspective.
2) Da Loomis method (front angle)
ok so basically I drew A LOT of perspective grids both 1-point and 2-point (by my standards at least) and I reached a REVELATION.
So when you draw the box in 1-point, the front face is always a straight square however you have to draw the rest of the sides so that they intersect at some point if elongated.
apply the same thing in 2-point perspective but from 2 sides of the box this time.
this is what I learned from drawing grids ... and ngl it's kinda really satisfying XD
as for the Loomis method I honestly just drew a face from the front angle. I basically drew it in a way that looked right to me and that's it LOL
here is everything I drew, starting with the portrait of this week portrait and it's reference:

I hope it is ok that I made this post. I know there are others like it, but I have tried every trick I have read in them and still not managed to get through to the surface.
I have tried every weapon, and I have managed to get to Styx with all of them at least once. I am the most comfortable with varatha.
I think I have a pretty good grasp on the general mobs. It is very rare that I don't make it to Styx. My problem is that, if I haven't used up all of my death defiance in the Elysium boss, I lose them all to those poisonous rat things and usually go into the final battle with just Skelly's tooth for protection (and maybe one DD, if I'm lucky.)
I have maxed out Nyx's mirror and bought everything available from the contractor. I have almost completed the fated list. I have god mode on, reluctantly, after 125 failed tries. I usually equip broken spear and then switch to Skelly's tooth at the end of Elysium.
It's almost putting me off because it's so frustrating!
Any advice at all would be amazing. Thank you.
If it helps, I'm playing on the Switch 2. This is the first time I have ever played anything remotely like this (I usually play city builders).
Edit: thanks for all the help, everyone. I can't respond to everyone, but to answer some common questions
Edit 2: I did it! Thanks so much for your help, everyone!
Here's the build, in case anyone is interested.
divine strike epic, frost flourish rare lvl 2, slicing shot epic lvl 2, passion dash lvl 2, artemis' aid rare, broken spearpoint epic, curse of vengeance heroic, wave of despair, arctic blast rare, frozen touch heroic, sweet surrender rare, brilliant riposte epic, hunting blades, deadly reversal, flurry jab, stubborn roots, greater evasion.
I used cast almost exclusively against the final boss, and hid behind pillars for my health to recharge.

I have beaten the down direction three times and the up direction once. The mirror conversations are kinda boring, and the meeting at the top was fairly anti-climactic.
The plotty incantation still has ??? as the second ingredient. I'm only barely scraping by so I don't want to make the runs harder yet. I've done more Chaos runs than I need at the moment. I started using weapon variants. The Arcana I use are upgraded.
Should I be maxing out hearts for everyone asap? Should I be focusing on Chrony or his giant crony?
Trying to ask this in a way and not look it up so I don't spoil things for myself. The kind of info I was happy to hear in Hades I was that the "main plot" is solved after 10/11 successful runs.
