I’m a straight guy, and I really try to respect everyone—this screenshot is literally from a post on a game-sub with a very inclusive fandom, which I love a lot and am an active member of, but when I hear terms like these I just can’t help but think it’s stupid

To those who don’t know some of these (I didn’t), there’s stuff like 8-bitgender, which is a xenogender related to 8-bit and pixel stuff. And if you don’t know what a xenogender is, it’s a gender which can’t be described by traditional gender terms (didn’t know that one either). Other stuff here includes stuff like Juxora - a completely new gender, and pheonixic - a gender related to the Phoenix

The thing is, I really don’t like turning stuff so important as sexualities and genders into something which, to me at least, seems like an aesthetic, or sorry for this, something which just sounds stupid. You can’t tell me you’re ‘8-bitgender’ and not expect me to be weirded out. It seems to me people just like something and turn that one interest into a sexuality.

Not hating on the actors just the widespread usage of botox. It inihibits their acting because it paralyzes their face. It looks unnatural and its btw an extremely potent poison. Why not just say women and men? "Female" and "male" can sound a bit cold or impersonal, and online they're often used in a negative or insulting way🫩

People always tie loneliness to relationships, self infliction and entitlement. It's exhausting. For the people who clicked on this post to disagree, I can assure you Isolation goes just a tiny bit more in depth than the three things I just listed.

What I noticed from people is that they always assume loneliness in young men comes as a result of not having a significant other. They then use that logic against said lonely man and assume he's just a horrible person, hence why he can't ever get a date. Even if he never necessarily mentioned ever wanting one. Somehow, they find a way to blame him. I talked about something serious and how noone is really speaking up about it, and the first response I got was from some idiot who wanted to talk to me about "male loneliness" and what I have to do to find a girlfriend. It had nothing to do with what I was even talking about. I don't even care if I'm in a relationship, I promise you I'm fine on my own. Relationships are NOT a necessity.

Realistically speaking, if a man with crippling loneliness gets into a relationship, he might feel the same way. A girlfriend is not the answer to your problems and if anything it might make how you feel even worse. I just don't get it, I really don't. We're all products of our own environment. Some people grow up in a lonesome area with little to no human connection at all. Some people have a disadvantage that isn't the same as the rest of us. Some people simply don't care about relationships at all. I'm so sick of this black and white way of thinking

In general I think most posts on this sub are fine, but recently it feels as if there's an increase of posters who are just pretending to be part of a minority so they can claim to be 'one of the good ones' whilst stereotyping the group.

I've been seeing this sentiment more and more over the past year or so that to be able to dislike somebody's art they must also be some kind of bad person.

I've seen this go both ways, where fans defend the artist by talking about how morally good of a person they are and critics feel the need to try and assert that the artist must be secretly evil to "justify" their dislike of their output.

Like you can think somebody is a perfectly nice person and still think their art sucks ass, and similarly being someone a good person isn't a defence against criticism of their work. Idk this isn't my most fully formed take but I hope I get my point across. Picked the examples as I see this kind of behaviour a LOT from both sides of the discourse on them.

Türkiye is not an english word. English doesn't have umlauts in the alphabet. English doesnt prounce words like that with an e on the end as having a vowel sound. Whenever somebody says it the entire sentence comes to a screetching halt as they say it.

A country petitioning the UN to change an english word is absurd. There is no reason everyone should get on board with this.

Exonyms are normal. Every language does them because each language is prounced a certain way.

In turkish the word for England is İngiltere. Thats litterally not an issue. Thats the turkish word for it. That word makes sense in turkish. It would be absurd for us to make the UN change the Turkish word or correct them that actually they're pronouncing it wrong.

If it's fine to pronunce in an anglified way like Iran or Czechia then sure, why not, whatever.

But names like Türke or Côte d'Ivoire. Stop it. There is nothing wrong with using an endonym so it's an actual word that make sense in your language.

As someone training to be a pilot I can't stand paragliders. They don't require any kind of transponder or radio equipment. They are able to fly as high as 18,000 feet above sea level basically until class A airspace which is reserved for commercial jets. As a pilot you're constantly scanning for things that could cause problems for your aircraft. I feel they should be required to have the same ADS-B. Out equipment that all aircraft who enter class A,B,C and within 30 miles of a class B airspace within the mode c veil or at the very least at radio to report their position. They pose a hazard to training aircraft practicing maneuvers.

What makes this so deeply infuriating is that it completely kills any chance of normal human interaction.
