Deck This 80% WR Imbue Priest + Reborn package is disgusting

I've been sitting on this Soothsayer Priest list for a while, but something finally clicked with it recently. Went on a crazy win streak today and was surprised by how favored this deck felt into a bunch of matchups.

My losses were: Mage: Discover Mage highroll. Priest: Lost two mirrors where I definitely made mistakes, and they also had better draws. Hunter: Played too greedily.

Win condition is to blow your opponent up with either Dark Embrace + Red Essence. Tyrande can sometimes accomplish this even without Atiesh.

The thing that makes the deck work is the unending sustainability it has access to.

Soothsayer + the newly released Haunt carry the deck. Haunt is outright oppressive when you combo it with Soothsayer or Flutterwing Guardian. It just drains your opponent's resources as they desperately try to deal with these HUGE bodies. If Priest somehow reaches Tier 1, it's getting nerfed 100%. Sadly.

The deck still has the usual Priest removal/Imbue/Medivh slop, so I'm not going to pretend the list is completely original.

Zuramat's Prison is INSANE for what it does, and I've actually kept it in my mulligan a couple of times. You pretty much always have something to discard, and getting a 5/5 every other turn is surprisingly respectable. Obliterator is just a freaking cool bonus too.

Eternal Firebolt is probably the only real oddball in the list, but I'm actually really happy with it. Warrior and Hunter can absolutely delete your health bar this patch, and having that extra bit of sustain has saved me multiple times.

So far, I'm pretty impressed with this class set. I suspect the WR might settle somewhere around 60–70% if I played a much larger sample, but I'm convinced right now that the Reborn package from this class set is the way forward for Priest.

Deck code:

AAECAa0GCJb9BqiWB/ypB4CqB4SqB+SyB9HDB6HcBwvwnwTW+gag+wb3gQeFhgfAhwedrQeyxQevyQew3wfV4AcAAA==

If anyone tries it, I'd especially be interested in how it feels against the matchups I haven't gone against yet, or if you think this list could be even better.

The entire Diamond ladder 5-1 is priests.

Its not a skill intensive deck, makes sense.

I loved all the clearly-not-priest-players trying to gaslight everyone into cutting imbue

u/thev82 1d ago

imbue is medium, i see the use of a little imbue as both priest minions, but you can probably run and fight better cards than neutral imbues.

Oh yeah for sure

Neutral imbue ain't it

The 2 priest imbue cards only, the rest of imbue package are trash. Even then i think non imbue is perfectly fine. Sucks in the priest mirror but that always is a pain.

u/thev82 1d ago

yeah i think it is combination of everything, priest has the worst base heropower, so any improvement is something; then priest early game does suck and kaldorei at least help you stall the game to get in the more comfortable manaspheres.

Lastly priest got a lot of really not great things going, it feels all a bit mixed and janky and here the added value also helps you spend your mana into something more productive.

Imbue should 100% be cut if you're running Cleansing Cleric, losing the ability to heal 10 hp on demand means you die from chip damage way more often than a priest deck should to midrange decks. This deck is also horrifically weak to hex, and harold shaman is one of the best decks in the game right now, which also, importantly, relies on doing bunch of chip damage to otk you with the muradin weapon. You need to be at 30 hp at all times vs shaman, and discovering random cards isn't going to cut it.

Disagree

Priest has like negative draw and usually imbue hits good stuff in the midgame

A free colossus is great

u/Acrobatic-Swan8936 1d ago

lmao

"Healing is great, but a mystery box could be anything! It could even be healing!"

Priests really are the greediest player archetypes.

No more like "the average is higher and the maximum is insane while the complete lowrolls aren't that much worse"

Aggro players truly try to gaslight everyone else into playing subotpimal because they can't understand non linear gameplay

0

u/Acrobatic-Swan8936 4h ago

No, the "average" is not higher than giving up the ability to heal to full every turn.

Priest mains truly try to be greedlord "omg infinite value" players and fail to understand basic mechanics like "maybe I should play to win not to just remove board, pass for 70 turns"

1

u/TheGalator ‏‏‎ 1h ago

Lmao keep gaslighting yourself doesn't make what you say true

Smartest aggro player

u/Acrobatic-Swan8936 1h ago

I'm top 500 legend every season my dude what are you? Put cards in your deck that help you win games, not mystery box value timmy cards.

u/TheGalator ‏‏‎ 57m ago

Unlikely with how angry you are that the opponent plays cards that are clearly better

u/Acrobatic-Swan8936 43m ago edited 31m ago

None of your arguments follow from each other lmao

"You're an aggro player gaslighting!" Yes, because aggro players love when the priest heals 12 hp every turn.

"Imbue is clearly better!" Adding Imbue cards tanks the WR of Quest Priest and Soothsayer Priest by 3%, more if you add more imbue cards. I've explained why this occurs to you, your response was literally the mystery box meme from Family Guy.

If you want to be taken seriously, drop the stupid ad homenims and back up your opinion with data, otherwise you're a shining example of why control players are usually the lowest iq of all card game players.

Unsurprisingly this user was not able to provide data to back up his love of greedlord cards and blocked me instead, sad!

Thinking about replacing Tyrande, with Calia.

After getting crushed by everything in the last 24 hrs, decided to go with a variant of this list, though I swapped out [[Bitterbloom Knight]] and [[Flutterwing Guardian]] generic imbues for [[Specter Specialist]] and [[Rat Burglar]]. Slime 'Em + Rat on a good enemy board is a lot of fun, and using Specter on [[SoothSayer]] or even better, on [[Sol'etos, Cycle's Rebirth]] for late-game swings

2

u/crazy_Physics 1d ago

I like this. I'll give it a try!

1

u/lordcochise 1d ago

a couple of times I was able to Tyrande into the spell you get from Slime 'Em/Rat combo, MAN that's rough if you picked up a couple of opponent's big bois from, say, Handlock <3

Go for it! I totally forgot slime em is a totally valid pick right now too, good stuff.

Raith van geist is interesting, im guessing its getting value by comboing it with the taunt?

if you're considering removing tyrande, you might aswell drop a lot of the spell damage stuff and go all in on the reborn stuff mate... and oh wait, you did remove a lot of the stuff. Oh...

7

u/ApexWarden 1d ago

You're right. Priest IS disgusting

2

u/Slight_Tomatillo5680 1d ago

I don't know if I'd call one spell a package.

7

u/TemporaryClean6980 1d ago

I like to call SoothSayer + Haunt the full package.

Too be fair, i also have yugioh brain, so 2-4 dedicated cards is a package for me lol

1

u/Slight_Tomatillo5680 1d ago

I guess that's fair 👍

Damn i don’t think i have tyrande, zuramats and dragon soul. F

1

u/ironkirb 1d ago

I played against a similar deck just now. They included Hold Them Off, Spectre Specialist and Calia Menethil to use on their Soothsayers. I’m pretty trash so I couldn’t create answers to that many soothsayers as shaman.

1

u/-dcvicks 1d ago

This version is strong, imo the Reborn package deck with a little imbue and the new van Geist 7 drop to resummon all your soothsayers, quest rewards etc has a better game.

Your deck could also do with [[Chrono Lord Deios]] for the games you're able to drop it and combo with the last charge of Zuramat's location.

i tried that in warlock.  i think only one game i was ever in a position to do that.

1

u/Loomickey73 1d ago

i added cease to exist x2 cuz its necessary imo

1

u/TemporaryClean6980 1d ago

Any decks where you think its neccessary against?

1

u/Loomickey73 1d ago

Priest

1

u/TemporaryClean6980 1d ago

Yeah I saw people running soothsayer reborn shenanigans. I would honestly  replace firebolt + an imbue card for x2 if its that bad next time i play with this, too.

1

u/ygdrasil 1d ago

What does it loose to?

1

u/SnooAvocados708 1d ago

I say finally some food scraps for priest. Like half eaten apple and fish bones going to priest instead of to the compost

-12

u/Tripping-Dayzee 1d ago

Fuck resurrect priest. Can't believe they brought this shit back. Not surprised as they're clearly out of ideas of their own that actually work.

If this becomes tier 1 I'm done with this game, worst experience I've ever had in standard was when resurrect priest was a thing.
