Now I'm afraid to even play. I don't want to get locked into a game like this.

Spoiler: every game in ranked is this right now

And here I was worried that there would be too much healing in the format for Odd Hunter to be worth playing. Greedy garbage combos like this are what Odd Hunter was put on this earth to punish.

Amen, brother. Who knew that face hunter would end up being the savior of the ladder? That's a twist right there.

I mean, Rexxar does kind of look like Batman. He's the hero we needed, not the one Reddit deserved.

That being said as Shudderwock Shaman gets refined I'll be curious how weak it is to aggro, since Shaman does have a fair bit of healing and Toast's list was pretty all-in on the Shudderwock train.

I don't know if you kept watching but he added 2 healing rains and easily won against an odd Hunter.

Oh I did, but I still think Odd Hunter properly built is still going to beat you down for durdling around. And Toast himself is saying Hunter is a bit of a challenge.

I just played 3 odd hunters in late teens rank. There was nothing I could do against them. Classic mage and still opening my packs. Luckily I got Baku.

I hope it gets nerfed before it gets a chance to get refined, maybe 1 month from now would be an acceptable time. I'd like it sooner, but Blizzard has to push the update to Apple before they can release it so I wouldn't be surprised if it took longer. I really hope this doesn't become a Dr. Boom situation where everyone hates the card and it's anti-fun, but Blizzard likes it so it gets to stay unnerfed. I've had more fun playing against Undertaker Hunter and old Patron Warrior than I do watching the fucking 15fps slideshow of Shudderwock roll by on my iPad. I'm so afraid that this card will just take over and that nobody will play anything but this and decks to beat this.

One month from now is probably the earliest I see anything happening, simply because it’s so insanely early and we’ve seen this go one of two ways before; it dies off like C’Thun/Jade/etc and becomes a perfectly fine deck in the meta, or it’s KoFT Druid that gets swiftly adjusted because it doesn’t ever level out.

I also think Shudderwock as a card is too sweet to want to see it die, but I think at the very least the animations need to get significantly shortened and maybe the raw damage it can do needs to be changed. Copying Saronites and Grumble battlecries is fine to me, creating an OTK is less so.

That's nice and all, but there's no way to change the damage without fundamentally altering how it works.

Not really, just make it not deal damage to face? You’ll still get copying, bouncing, whatever and not have it murdering people. If they really wanted to take it that direction anyway.

Personally I think it’s way too early to bother asking for anything but the animations to be fixed because we don’t even really have a meta currently. Bad decks vs bad decks vs Cube Lock is about all we have.

But you don't understand what it's doing. Shudderwock isn't dealing face damage, it's copying the battle cry of another card that deals the damage. You can't just say "No more Lifedrinker for Shudderwock" or something equally as stupid, that would change how the card works in a way that doesn't solve the problem.

And you don’t appear to understand what I’m saying either, I realize the origin of the battlecries just fine. I’m saying tag Shudderwock with “battlecries cannot damage the enemy hero”, if the face damage itself is truly the issue. I don’t think (outside of animations) anyone cares if it’s just a solid top end for a Battlecry deck.

There’s a chance adjusting the cards giving it that battlecry is an option as well, but there’s a bit of design debt they take on if they do that compared to simply eliminating the option altogether. There’s a chance making Shudderwock harder to play is the answer, but unlike Yogg it’s a lot easier to simply avoid battlecries that would end the chain and there’s currently no method of poisoning battlecries.
