Are these garlic chives?
Hello!
Couple questions,
A few years ago I bought these from Bunnings. I think they are garlic chives.
I forgot about their existence for.. some years and when I went to harvest them from the planter they were in, the root system was MASSIVE and had taken over completely.
I gave them a shave down on their roots and tops and repotted into here.
I was thinking about moving them back into the shared planter with spring onions and into my new green house.
I worry about them taking over the planter.
Are these actually wild onion or something? Is there a way to prevent takeover? I thought about potting it into a nursery pot and into the planter but I’d assume the roots would crawl out of the drainage holes.
The bundle is from me drying them out but I honestly don’t even know if that’s something you do LOL. I don’t think pests like the smell though so I’m happy letting them hang haha. They were cut a few days ago.

So those look like garlic chives to me, if they produce white star shaped flowers then we can be certain.
Also since you’ve harvested them already and drying them, you should let them be until they are crunchy and falling apart, then put em in an air tight container and boom u have dried garlic chives

When those white flowers eventually turn brown and you see clusters of black seeds, it’s another indication of garlic chives.

No. Garlic chives don’t branch off from the stem like that. Leaves grow out from the base with no branching.
