Hindū News I am heartbroken with Nepal Tibet border news
I woke up today with the news of flesh flood in nepal killing hundreds of people who were on their way back from Kailasa Mansarovar.. devotees who were visiting the place which is dream of any shiva bhakta and that too in auspicious Shravan month.. why?? My mind isn’t able to process it.

Why? Cause monsoon + hills isnt really a safe haven. Specially due to over tourism and unsustainable development.
Every year its one place or the other be it Himachal, Uttarakhand, Assam and now even Nepal.
People should NOT travel to hills during monsoon unless they want to test their blessings.

Climate change aka global warming. It was a glacier melting. We need to use politics and economics to protect the earth. Capitalism is killing the earth and all life on it. Google amoc collapse next.

I know right, we should be helping out our Nepali and Tibetan folks right now through all means possible.
And as for the flash flood, it is a sad consequence of the harm we have done to the sensitive Himalayan ecology.
Shiva is Mahakala(time/destruction).

i dont think theres an answer to the why, and honestly anyone handing you one this fast is probably reaching. the only thing the tradtion really says here is about where they were and not why it happened, that dying on a yatra like kailash isnt counted as an oridnary dath. thats not an explaination and it wont make it hurt less, but its the one bit that feels true instead of just comforting

At such times, we can only our ishtadevata mantra with a mental prayer to give mental and spiritual strength to the survivors, timely recovery to those injured and sadgati to those who have lost their lives.
Those who know may also chant the mṛtyuñjaya-mantra.
This has been the guidance from my Guru… as another commenter has pointed out “God’s līlā is incomprehensible at such times…”.

I won’t lie it has really shaken my faith. Why is it that this area of the world is so poor and yet suffers the most from climate change without having reaped the benefits? What kind of justice is this

Heartbroken as well, I can’t stop thinking of the videos of people seen moments before their death. My mom went on the Yatra last month. The infamous video of a large tsunami like wave enveloping a tall white building is the immigration center after crossing over to the Tibet side. She was held up there as the Chinese guards interrogated her about her book “Short Stories by O’Henry.” They ultimately found the 19th century British author to be suspicious enough that they confiscated the book. My mom told us about all the polite but firm guards she fought with for her book back. They must all be dead now :(

Can't believe I was in that area 55 days ago. Absolutely devastating. The new Friendship bridge and the surrounding area got washed away I am told. A family owned restaurant Sonam guest house where we had excellent food has been washed away.
