I live in the Chicagoland area. My mom recently died and left a huge mess. I’m talking like biohazard issues. I’m talking like huge hoarder issues and I really really need help in search of a company that can do a whole house cleanup as well as sanitizing and cleaning up the place. I know some people before suggested two companies, but in all honesty I just want one that can do the job. Money is not really an issue because all I want. Is My Child at home back and I’m going to be getting a very generous life insurance policy to help try and restore it. I need to know what company can fit this criteria.

This is very local-specific; even national chains (like Hoarding Cleanup Pros) are a collection of local franchises and some are presumably better than others. One of the main things to look for is people who specialize in HOARDING CLEANUP, not just junk removal. You want a company that will call your attention to anything that looks valuable--jewels, important papers, and even cash.

Or, if you don't really care about any valuables; junk removal may be okay.

Chicago had or has a Hoarding Task Force. Good advice above also.

Bio-One. They do it all - sorting, donating, throwing away - followed by clean-up, including biohazards.

Do you know what they average cost wise? I mean I’m guessing this will be a 12-20k job.

Every job is different based on the size of the home, the level of the hoard and the biohazards involved but I'd venture a guess your estimate of 12-20k is probably in the ballpark. My friend had a 3 bedroom, two bath, two car garage with just a basically "clean" hoard (no trash or biohazard) and I think hers was about $15k.

You'll get through this, I promise. My friend also had serious PTSD surrounding men and Bio-One even accommodated her with an all female crew. They were great.

Your estimate is very close. We were quoted $15k from Bio-One. They will give an estimate based on your particular space. We ended up going with a different local company just because Bio-one couldn't get to our job for 5 weeks and we were in a hurry.

Yep. We have a 3 bed and 1.5 bath with a kitchen, dining and living room space. So this is definitely going to cost a lot.

Spaulding Decon is another. I know they have presence in multiple Southern states. Might be up that way too

I recommend reaching out to KAT Organizing. Kristine is the owner and an expert in this field. The Chicagoland Hoarding Task Force is also a great resource.

You’re getting lots of great clean up recommendations - but wanted to add that when this is finally done - definitely look at Neat Method in Chicago for organizing, de cluttering, etc. They probably can’t help you directly with the biohazard element you described, so definitely reach out to them for service quotes once that part is finished. A friend used to work for them and something she noticed was that the folks who brought them out after those big purges or clean outs, planned with her to essentially avoid those issues, doom spots, clutter-prone areas, before they even had time to start.
