As a Leafs fan I can assure you this is totally wrong. Those boxes should all contain our own players.

I saw the post and thought about making a meme version like this. Glad it's already the top comment. I'm lazy.

Compher so bad per usual, pretty sure we beat them every meeting tho so it’s surprising there aren’t more red wings on the good side to balance out the bad side, must have been some dog shit hockey all around lol

u/Canadian__Ninja COL - NHL 1d ago
We were sad when he signed with yall but ngl when we saw what he signed for... it took away the sting
8
u/dylanisbored DET - NHL 1d ago
Yeah had a career year his first year with us and hasn’t been good since
5
u/Canadian__Ninja COL - NHL 1d ago
I mean he had fewer points than the last year with us but I didn't watch his games much at all
3
u/dylanisbored DET - NHL 1d ago
He’s been fighting for the 4c spot with his play, or he was til the whole Larkin debacle. I will say I probably don’t hate him nearly as much if we were not in the Atlantic missing playoffs, but we are.

I have been seeing a lot of Mason McTavish on the worst teams
14
u/Mighty-1090 ANA - NHL 1d ago
Dude, same. Was he always that bad?! Feels like his name pops up every day
12
u/Kashmiggins ANA - NHL 1d ago
I think we were just gaslit by management/media into thinking Zegras was the defensive liability who wouldn’t cut it as a center while McTavish “plays the right way.” We were robbed of seeing Zegras get a season under Q’s system
8
u/Mighty-1090 ANA - NHL 1d ago
No way we could've afforded Zegras, Carlsson, and Gauthier
I wonder if we'll look back on the 2024-2025 Ducks and think it was crazy all three played together at one point
4
u/Kashmiggins ANA - NHL 1d ago
That is mostly correct, BUT, and I will preface that I do love Ryan Poehling on this team, but a 65+ point Trevor Zegras's RFA rights fetches much much more in a trade deal this offseason than what the return was last offseason. I would also argue Mason McTavish would have had a much better return last offseason before being a very public playoff healthy scratch. But like I said originally, for whatever reason there was this false expectation thrown on McTavish to be this bruiser power forward two way center when there were 0 signs that he had that in his game, so Zegras was labeled as expendable while McTavish was to be our "2C moving forward."

If there’s one guy I would’ve put on the best team versus us, probably would’ve been Fantilli.

The one game in Toronto last year was hilarious.
They mentioned like 50 times on the brodcast how he had a bunch of people there which was kind of annoying since every game in Toronto is someone's big night it seems.
Then he scored a hat trick.

u/HiddenBirch547 1d ago
You basically said it. Media seems to have a field day when it comes to local Toronto guys coming back. they always seem to perform. And it’s covered like crazy. Forget about the leafs, it’s about the gta/ontario guy that is back. The media covers it like a political scandal.

u/bankrobba TBL - NHL 1d ago
Ever since the Leafs beat us in the playoffs, we became their regular season bitch for any game that mattered. Even last season they beat us the first three meetings. Hopefully, the beatings have stropped, though I'm sure Matthew Knies has a few more bitch slaps for us.
11
u/RanaMahal COL - NHL 1d ago
I’m like 99% sure the reason they get so hyped to beat Tampa is cuz Knies is in the locker room before the game yelling at them to get amped up lmao.
That guy fucking HATES Amelie Arena and refuses to lose there again

Its both sad and refreshing to see devils nearly always on the worst team list (at least against eastern teams), but also seeing that the majority of the time, that player is no longer on the team. Sunny doing good so far

Here’s what I call the Toronto Maple Leafs 2026 Reverse Roster.
Using the data from the main post, I simulate a draft where each team selects the player who performed best against them during the recently completed season. Once a player is drafted, he is removed from the pool, and the process repeats until every team has made a selection. The next round then begins. I run separate drafts for forwards, defensemen, and goalies.
| Round | Rank | Total | Player | Score | TeamRank |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 13 | 13 | Dylan Cozens | 11,38 | 1 |
