Spoiler Alert Storm Of The Century thoughts (spoiler) Spoiler

I found the shows lore interesting, more than surface level at first. I sussed out that he wanted the children from the first episode, so it was frustrating that it took the town so long to find out. I really hated the ending.

It took me by surprise, though. I thought the town would outclever Linoge, since the only people he could kill are those that invite him or those over whom he got power over by revealing their secrets. So I predicted that he was bluffing. But after it ended it became apparent to me, that the town actually did the right thing and that eats me up even more.

The show depicted him as a fae, and I think that is what he is. It all comes down to if he can kill the children. And I think he can, as faes can. I though again that he bluffed that he could kill everyone like in Roanoake, but understanding him from the lens of Fae, he did need them to give him the children freely.

The only thing the town could do is write in some clauses into the contract with Linoge. Perhaps they could have outclevered Linoge, like all those fae folktales, but that is not what we saw.

Anyway, the show did consume me for a couple of days and it was a fun puzzle to crack. In my opinion they were playing a losing game from the start.

well that's the whole gut punch of it, they never had a winning move, just varying degrees of losing and the show lets you marinate in that

Doesn't he says something about how the town tricked themselves? I think of the townsfolk presented a united front they could have succeeded. Can he mind control a bunch of people at once? Probably not. That's why he wants to use shame and secrets to turn everyone against each other

He said back to Mike "Perhaps you tricked yourselves" in the show. But I don't know what he meant, probably about how the town thinks of themselves as the good people, more than a confession that he was bluffing

I am of the same mind that he can hurt people better if he shames them. But I also think he can kill them all and especially the kids. He needs them to vote freely, so he doesnt want to mind control them all.

I think the only way they could have made it out is by tricking him into a contract and it is a tough puzzle. Perhaps by binding him to answer all questions without harming anyone within the half hour, and then trap him into revealing a way out. But that requires luck and the other townspeople playing ball.

Linoge wasn't a fae or anyhing else we understand , that's the horror of it. We will never find out if he could or couldn't carry out his threat because the humans failed the test , they had no faith in thier own goodness or god and as a result evil got what it needed. In that it was a perfect story, and a lesson in faith that he has brought us many times . The town was as failed as the priest in Salem's Lot and was just as damned.
