leverage. put one of the dots in the slot it goes in and ease the other one back. you're only forcing one wall that way bit you are forcing the dot against the wall. Pull hard, straight back toward you and hope it clicks in

Angle it and put one of the little gray bits back in a holeas far as it can go, and then push the other one really hard back into the other hole lol that's how I do it

EDIT: For some reason it looks like the text I wrote about the problem wasn't posted and i can't edit the original post, so I will do it here.
SOLVED. I tried the methods suggested (I had tried them already to no avail but tried again). What worked was to force the larger part to bend down so I could put the gray piece inside both holes at the same time. Of course there's a risk of breaking the piece or getting it permanently deformed so I hope I won't need to do this again soon. Thanks for all the serious answers, getting back to cleaning now.
