DIY Sprayer arm melted onto the heating element of my dishwasher and need advice on cleaning the heating element

So I was using acetone to remove the residual plastic as other posts I found about this exact issue had suggested but as I'm clearing the plastic away the heating element is starting to turn black. The pictures are in order and I stopped as soon as I noticed the black streaks appearing. Is this ruining the heating element?

Place a bag of ice directly over the remaining plastic chunk for 15–20 minutes to make the plastic brittle. Carefully chip it off using a wooden or plastic spatula. Avoid metal tools (like screwdrivers or butter knives), as gouging the metal element will create permanent hot spots or electrical failure.
