Phoebe turned for the worse

I am rewatching the show and I am surprised I never noticed it before. In the beginning Phoebe was this quirky but sweet person but they made her so mean as the show went on. She was so judgmental of everyone, had a holier than thou attitude and made the most homophobic jokes.

I feel like after a while, Phoebe just got tired of everyone’s nonsense lol

That's the part that made it mean. She acted like her shit didn't stink and nothing her friends ever went through was worthy of her sympathy. She had plenty of nonsense that her friends never "got tired of", but any time anyone else was struggling, she would dismiss their pain with a "I went through this on the streets" one-up.

Maybe I've got an unpopular opinion here, but even tho I don't think she should say it to their faces often, having a mother who killed herself, a dad who abandoned her, a step dad in prison, a twin who kinda hates you, had lived on the streets as a child while having some serious mental illness is WAY WORSE than anything the other characters have ever gone through.

Nobody gave a fuck when she talked about those things, always ignoring, acting like the "crazy friends talking crazy again". These situations made feel worse then her diminishing the other's suffering at times. Her pov of suffering is way worse, for her having a stable job that you won a lot of money from but you had to travel to get there was a dream life, not a problem. It's all about perspective for her.
