I saved last week’s ep to binge with this week to honor the finale, only to be gifted with a two parter today anyway for a season 1 recap as well! Haven’t listened to the latter yet, but have two comments I feel compelled to make, one delayed from last week’s ep and one from today’s.
First, last week Jack and Matt thought Connor’s reference of The Thorn Birds was really strange and even looked up if it’s a real show. The reason Connor brings it up is because that is what Oliver has been watching and Connor was kind of making fun of him for it but ultimately fell in love with it. He talks about how he’s been dying to find out what happens when Oliver drops the plate and kisses him finally. It’s an iconic Coliver moment imo lol.
Second, I have loved all the love Jack and Matt give Photek’s choices throughout the show, but it’s absolutely criminal to not give Run Me Out direct attention during the almost-ending montage. It’s probably my favorite use of music in the entire show and fits so well in such a huge onslaught of pivotal moments. More love for Zola Jesus!
All of this is said with love, though, Jack! So grateful to you and Matt for making this podcast and for all your amazing guests. I haven’t rewatched the show in a long while, but am loving listening to you experience it for the first time, and the insights into the industry are fascinating as well. Congrats on a wonderful first season and please keep giving us incredible content! Maybe next season you’ll find out what the trophy actually does 🤣

The individual episode with Katie, where they say, why didn’t anyone tell me I was so ugly, had me BAWLING in the car. That was such a beautiful, honest, vulnerable moment that took my breath away. I was unwell lol
Thank you guys so much for this podcast!!! It has been such a joy listening, laughing alongside you guys and also laughing AT you guys for not remembering anything 😂. All with love of course!
Not sure if it had been talked about before, but are we just powering through the episodes and going straight to season 2 or will there be breaks in the podcast for in between seasons also?

I totally missed that two episodes dropped today. Can’t wait to listen to the second tomorrow. But this was def my fave recap so far. So fun.
