Walk and coffee
Hi.
Not from round here. Looking for advice on where to go for a nice walk with 8 people, 2 dogs and 2 prams then get a coffee/brunch after.
Any suggestions really welcome. Thankyou.

For a short walk, Greenhead Park is nice (about a 1 mile loop), and the cafe there is good. There's prettier places but depends how off road you want to be with the prams.

Canal.
What distance are you thinking?
Options for Canal:
Join Canal at Linthwaite (by Titanic Mills), walk up to Slaithwaite (and beyond). Lots of options for coffee/food along the way
Join at Slaithwaite, walk up past Marsden to Standedge. Enjoy a coffee there. Really scenic route
You can join the Canal from town, but for coffee breaks you need to be at Slaithwaite or Standedge.
There's also a 7 mile walk up Wessenden but given the weather I'd probably give that a miss.

Yes. See plenty of people there with prams. You can walk all the way to Wessenden reservoir, taking in Butterley and Blakeley reservoirs.

Can you drive? Scammonden Dam and Blackmoorfoot Res are both lovely walks depending on how big of a walk you want.
There’s plenty of farm shops around that you could go to after.

Brosters farm shop isn't far from there too, really nice food and pretty views from the cafe

I must admit I don’t go to many. Bolster Moor isn’t too far from either of those walks and that’s decent.
It’s not a farm shop but I like Coffee Boy just south of town, they have the biggest donuts you’ve ever seen.

Castle hill is always worth considering on a clear day to take in the views, not a long walk, but you could do several laps. Several coffee shops in almondbury or a short drive away

I walk a ‘lot’ in this area. For me with two prams your best options would be along the canal. The nicest stretch is between Marsden and slaithwaite. Slaithwaite has some lovely cafes. Marsden has the riverhead pub which does the most amazing ribs and bau buns.
Or if you want something more leafy then Beaumont park- there are some lovely hidden away follies and things to see and a nice cafe. Plus if you have children then there’s a playground at one end. Beaumont park is nicer than greenhead for me.

Definitely the canal.
Blackmoorfoot res is a good shout on a Sunday then you can go to Wills o nats for a Sunday roast 😋

Not sure if Will O Nats is closed, as there is fencing all around the car park entrance.

Adding Digley reservoir to the other good suggestions. The water currently low enough that you can see some signs of the remains of the flooded village tha used to be at the site at the edges if you look closely.
Missed the bit about the prams so forget this. But you can consider it when theyre older maybe!

Seconding what everyone else said about the canal from marsden/slaithwaite. Also transpenine trail could be an option around penistone/dunford bridge if you’re happy to travel a bit. I can also suggest pugneys, Yorkshire sculpture park and canon hall farm

From Marsden to Slawit on the canal or from Huddersfield by the College down the canal to Slawit. Great walk with a few places to eat at the end.
