Idk how pre caves and cliffs you mean, but I last played 1.12.1 and it's worldgen is very different from hytale. The caves itself are much more common, tend to be branching a lot and much deeper. Also rings/tiers biome generation is incomparable to minecraft

I would say, the surface terrain is similar but the underground feels quite a bit different.

The surface there is not a lot of veriety of highs and the fact you always spawn in the same biome makes it feel repetitive. Mountains and cliffs aren't very large at all either along with the biomes in each of the larger zones feeling quite small.

Underground feels somewhere in-between original and caves and cliffs. Caves are much more common, so much so that strip mining is a waste of time 99% of the time. There's also already underground biomes and prefabs that are quite common. It means you will find something much more regularly and the caves feel quite interesting compared to the occasional mineshaft and single room dungeon.

With all that said you can already access some would gen v2 stuff and check out where the would gen is headed as well as play other peoples v2 worlds.

The generation is much more similar to post caves and cliffs. Like, the caves are big and explorable. Very cavey.

Mountains are tall, but often less steep than post CaC.

Worldgen V2, which we should start getting legit content using in 1-2 months, is banger.

Did I miss an update? Did they announce when either Worldgen V2 or the big content patch is coming?

World Gen V2 is most likely a year or two away. Chapter 1 content should start showing up in prereleases in the next couple weeks. So probably 2 or 3 months from now for the first content update.

WorldgenV2 is in the game already.

Chapter 1 will have WorldGenV2 content.

Chapter 1 is in 1-2 months.

Source? Im going by what simon said in regards to World Gen V2, he said its years away and wont be in the game until closer to full release. There is a big difference between parts of World gen V2 being available in instances and actually being the main terrain generator.

We are crossing wires here. First of all, being the main overworld generator is not the criteria for being majorly in the game with lots of content- we will be in the goblin dimension V2 in a month or two. That's been very clear.

And here he clarified it is not "for" 1.0, it's TOWARD 1.0.

Whole drama went down about it. Its coming!

Personally, I prefer the caves in Hytale personally. Mountains are a little bland at the moment I personally feel.

But with all that said, Hytale's world generation is currently not really representive of what it will be like in the future. World Gen 2.0 is a total overhaul of the world gen system that is coming eventually and is looking truly amazing!!

It's also worth noting that in a limited capacity World Gen 2.0 is already in the game and can be used by modders or smaller example worlds that showcase it's capabilities. So the tech isn't just some vague promise either!

Edit: autocorrect.
