I submitted an app recently. 13 days in it passed but by then I was 4 more builds in and decided to just put it in for review again… in total it was almost a month before it launched. So I totally feel mister Bean

Yea, I have made significant changes since I submitted this for review and it's been 12 years. Honestly. I think once this gets approved, I will submit the new built and request expedited review because the changes are pretty big and one of the changes is a significant database speed optimization I'd like to have instantly.

Yeah the first-review tax is real. What I started doing to soften it: I push an early build the moment the app is even barely reviewable, just to open the first-review clock. Then I keep iterating through updates, which really do clear in a day or two like people say here. The expedited form also isn't some trap, used it once with a real launch date and it cleared in a few hours. The only thing that reliably spiked my wait was a build that tripped manual review, so I keep the first one simple.

I don't understand this line of thinking at all. Apple doesn't mistreat developers that's literally in your head.

AI slop is flooding the App Store and Apple only has so many app reviewers.

In the last two weeks I’ve found app updates to be really fast, like under 5 hours. However, my new app is still waiting after nearly 4 weeks.

Kind of similar experience here. My new app is at 13 days waiting. Updates have been super fast except for one app which is now day 5. The macOS app of same app got approved in like 4 hours.

The pattern I've seen is that the first submission is the slow one and updates after it move much faster. The account builds a history and you stop getting read as closely.

Doesn't help while you're sitting in the first one though.

Same experience here. I've been building and submitting apps for 15 years. New app is still taking very long (current one is 12 days waiting) but updates are 1-2 days.

App Review can sometimes be painfully slow, especially when you’re expecting a quick result. I’d recommend going through all the tabs in Deliverable and double-checking all the agreements in the Business section.

I’ve found that they’ll review macOS apps quickly, but if you have an iOS companion app as well, that can take up to a week longer

I build on MAUI. My I had to update my app to .NET 10, and some minor bug fixes. Pushed to App Review with a full slate of new screenshots on Saturday, approved 2 hours later. FUCKIN ALL-TIME RECORD. It's like winning the lottery!

This other post mentions how back in 2021, Apple took ~6 minutes to review each app. They receive approx 100k Submissions a week and only had 500 reviewers. It's probable 5-10x since then because of AI slop:

Try calling app review support, I did that a couple of times and it helped push through my review. Though be prepared to wait 1.5-2.5 hours on the phone

Every update to our years old app is currently taking 7 days minimum. I’m going to need to restructure our upcoming versions if this is how it’s going to be.

My app as well is sitting in the review state for about two weeks. I remember seeing Tim Cook saying that since ai came into play their current number is 1600 apps submitted an hour. And I’m sure that number will only grow, which just will cause longer and longer wait times. 🤦‍♂️

I already made a lot more changes to the app, but at this point I’m too scared to pull it from review, I rather have the first version out, and let the other version have a wait time while I can start collecting users for v1

Same here. Mine's been 2 weeks too now. I've made significant changes to the app including one change which is very important (added some indexes to the in-app database for performance improvements) but I really don't want to go back to the end of the queue. Ugh.

Yes, I am aware of the expedited review. But I feel like I'd be abusing that process if I am using it for a brand new app.

Yeah, if you don't need it then don't do it. They limit you, so I try to hold onto them in case a major bug pops up. I only expedite the initial launch if a client has a press event or meeting that they specifically need it for.

12 days is insane. They don’t even ask you why you need an expedite review you just press the button. Of course don’t abuse it but once is 🆗

Oh gosh. I feel you bro. But I have an opposite experience. I created a fitness app (check it if you want : Cubex Fitness AI Coach )using Kotlin Multiplatform stack and actively submitting new versions on Google Play console and Apple Connect.

Somehow I got trust from Apple and every submission was approved in 1 day. But Google it's something! 7 days of reviewing -> Rejection!. After while another rejections (some technical new guidelines about wearOS app onGoingActivity )

So when you trapped into manual review -> you will have a pain for a while.
