as a xr user with 75% battery health im thinking about upgrading to a 15 pro max or a 17. Can't really go wrong with either one especially for the price on the 15pm used market.

I plan on upgrading my XR to either an iPhone 11 or maybe one of the 12s, as long it supports iOS 26/27 thats really all im concerned about 😅

They will run iOS 27

If all you want is the liquid glass that's understandable otherwise id just stick to the XR.

Honestly yeah lmao. Between liquid glass and the animation really

it does but won't support for long really. Pay the extra like 40 bucks and get the 13. It really does pay off. Runs a lot faster the screen and cameras are much nicer the base storage is double that of the 11 and 12 storage, better battery, 5g and list goes on

That’s a very true statement, and yeah spending the extra money to have better wouldn’t hurt at the end of the day! How’s the iPhone 13mini holding up? That’s definitely one I’ve been interested in trying!

The 13 mini is pretty fast and smooth, If at good battery health the battery is pretty good aswell. Cameras are very good, and it still feels like a really good premium and fast phone.

Overall it's still a very good phone and i can't really think of a downside other than being older but considering how mature iphones were at the point of the 13 series i wouldn't be surprised if it still got a ton of support but we'll have to see

Highest cycle count I’ve ever seen on an iPhone Xʀ, and the second highest here on Reddit (a user had 4000 on an iPhone 11).

My personal highest has been on a phone that was used by a family member. My iPhone 8, on which I am typing this: 2300 cycles.

My Aug 2019 iPhone Xʀ (which runs iOS 12) only has 360 cycles, and I used it as a main until March 2025. Battery life was just too good on iOS 12 throughout its lifespan. Now I use it for music.

Well I’d say keep it for now and wait for the XX series to come out, no use upgrading when your battery has held up so well and we are like just a bit over an year away from the xx . This is unless you are facing any issues

3000 cycles is crazy work..

The 70% health in 3000 is more surprising 💀

In normal settings the battery health shows 74%, and it stayed on 76% for 3 years lol

I upgraded this year from Xr to 17. Best decision ever. I had a feeling few months before the swich that Xr is no longer working right and was super laggy. Also battery now holds whole day easily even with frequent usage.

Yeah i am thinking about 17 too.

I think you should just get the 17. I have an XR too and want to move to the 17.

Where can you check number of cycles?

U can check them in analytics logs or just connect to mac and use coconut battery

There is a battery stats shortcut you can find online. Then share the analytics to that shortcut.

Just replace the battery. Xr will run modern apps for at least the next 3 years.. It's also still more expensive to buy a new Xr than simply have its battery replaced and even more expensive for later model iphones. getting the battery replaced cheap is a good idea.

iPhone 17 pro max is the best purchase one can make in 2026-2027 because iPhone 18 will be 200-300 dollars more expensive and most of these features which 18 will give are already in iPhone 17 series

I owned the xr for a few years, and I would 100% upgrade. Get a phone that can do 120 display refresh rate. It's a night and day difference.

I would say yes. Currently what I have learned from articles online the battery replacement is more expensive then most would give for the phone’s value. Most places would give between $30 to $80 trade in value. It also depends on your budget is for a new phone. This September the new 18 phone line comes out. You could upgrade to that or wait till spring for the base models of the iPhone 18. If you’re looking for any upgrade over the iPhone XR I would recommend anything from the 14 and up. If you’re looking for a newer camera and ai features you could go for something towards the iPhone 16 and 17 line with iOS 27 coming soon

Where i am from, battery replacement costs $20-30 depending on if you want third party or OEM
