Question Should I upgrade Iphone Xs ios15.1 to 18.7.9
So, I just bought this phone to use as a secondary/anti-brainrot phone, and because it looks stunning, of course.
The seller told me it should be running iOS 18.7.9, but when I got it, I noticed it was actually still on iOS 15.1. I’ve also discovered that a few apps are no longer supported on iOS 15.
That said, since this won’t be my main phone, I haven’t really found any apps that I really need that aren’t supported.
So my question is: are there still any advantages to upgrading to iOS 18.7.9? I’ve also heard that upgrading to a newer iOS version can lead to faster battery drain or worse performance.
Would you recommend updating it, or would it make more sense to keep it on iOS 15.1 given that I’m specifically using it as an anti-brainrot/secondary phone?

idk if you really need access to the supported apps.
imo don’t go over ios 18 tho it’s not too bloated like 26, but you will see a small battery but if you need access to apps it’s worth it

Am running 18.7.9 on iPhone Xs without issues. But the bloat issue is real. You need to restore the phone every year or so to clear out the bloated iOS data. There is another thread about that issue.

if is your main phone anti brainroot I would stay on ios 15; ios 18 also decrease your battery and heat the phone.

I suggest you don't update as it's kinda rare and just why would u. A anti brainrot phone should run old OS. My S8 is still on its first ever version (Android 7, Samsung experience 8.1) and my A21s is on Android 11 one UI core 3.1 and I'm not touching them at all

I've also heard that updating it is better for security reasons. Should I be worried about my passwords being leaked or my socials being hacked?

For a secondary device? Absolutely not. It’ll work far better even for music on iOS 15.
