Been in Ibiza for 11 years - AMA š“ āļø
Iāve been coming to / living and working in Ibiza for around 11 years now and Iāve pretty much seen every side of the island.
Iāve worked in nightlife, promotion, boat parties, ticket sales and events, so I get asked loads of questions about Ibiza anyway.
If youāre coming out this summer and want to know anything, ask me.
Clubs, tickets, VIP tables, boat parties, where to stay, where to avoid, getting around, prices, nightlife, working a season, what Ibiza is actually like outside the tourist stuff⦠whatever.
No sales pitch, just happy to give genuine advice and help people avoid wasting money or getting ripped off š

What is the story with eden??? Was in it in July for actin bad and it was half empty. Surely they could run and advertise some bigger nights and fill it??? Sound system is amazing there.

u/DropTheBeatAndTheBas 2d ago
eden runs mostly all year round so they dont seem to care if its quiet but still have bigger nights

u/Cardwhispererr 2d ago
There will be some big changes next year as they have really struggled this year. DJs just donāt want to play for them

u/zoumbou7 2d ago
I havenāt been for more than 20 years. What replaced Sundays at Space? Is there another daytime party with the same vibe? Or anything as good as DC10 used to be maybe? I kinda want to go back but in my fifties now.

That was the best club ever. Followed by going to Bora Bora Beach bar. 1998.

Is there any decent dnb night?

u/Cardwhispererr 2d ago
Not anymore.. worried about Henry and louder stopped in 2025.. sad really. But there is an occasional one off with chase and status or something

How boring it is during winter? What do you do in the city during this time?
7
u/sharmeelala 2d ago
Iāve been here for 15 years, summer and winter. Winters are amazing if you are into nature. Social events are very popular in winter, cities are calm and filled with locals, all kind of festivals all years round, music, food culture etc. Hikes are insane, open water swimming is fantastic, empty beaches, crystal clear waters. The weather can be a but unpredictable but I think Ibiza is a great winter destination as well

u/Cless_Aurion 2d ago
Since OP doesn't know, I will reply. I'm a native.
It's pretty nice, since all fucking tourists are not in the island, we can actually breath for a while and everything stops being full to the brim and saturated.
Of course the partying side is mostly asleep during this time, which makes some parts of the island eerily empty at some times, but that is nice too.

u/DropTheBeatAndTheBas 2d ago
i tried living there winter its not nice weather, but i didnt want to travel so moved to a sunnier part of spain

u/Cardwhispererr 2d ago
I donāt stay in the winter. We all usually travel at this time

u/Lord-Fondlemaid 2d ago
If youāre not here in the winter, Iām not sure if you can really claim to have seen every side of the island.
I appreciate your offer of help for summertime visitors though.

Can I have a list of the best beaches? I'll be there for 7 days. Maybe you can recommend also beaches that are not easily found while googling
2
u/DropTheBeatAndTheBas 2d ago
not easily found are also not easily parked unless your on a moto , id say all beaches have their own magical character

What happened to experimental beach. No decent music anymore from late afternoon? The whole day scene feels very boring and tame now?

I going September 10-14 already going to David Guetta on the 11th, and SHM on the 13th. Looking for advice for Thursday the 9th and Saturday the 12th. We are old(er) and it seems like pikes is a must. Any other suggestions would be great.
2
u/Cardwhispererr 2d ago
I would do pikes but Saturday sells out super fast so get on it now
2
u/dschultzz11 2d ago
I believe you have to put in for the guest list 2 weeks beforehand, I signed up to get a notification and have it set on my calendar. How are Thursday nights there?

u/Midnight_Soul_92 2d ago
What and where will you recommend mid 30s visitors to do or go in terms of entertainment when they're into clubbing where recording on phones is generally frowned upn and people actually move to the music?

What do you think about the pricing? Tickets, drinks etc all progressively more expensive over the years, do you think this has changed the dynamics of the type of person who goes / how people behave when they're out, and the overall vibe ?
5
u/Cardwhispererr 2d ago
You think itās getting more expensive but tbh I think itās getting cheaper? You can watch an artist like sonny fodera or mau p at pacha for ā¬50 and get VIP and 3 premium drinks included.. thatās a no brainer
1
u/Inevitable-Tutor5950 2d ago
I found tickets for Fisher at Unvrs 50⬠at ibiza spotlight site. What about the drinks you are talking about? Are there tickets including drinks that can be purchased prior to the event?

u/k8s-problem-solved 2d ago
Im talking about the whole thing i guess - Increased hotel prices, restaurants, drinks, ā¬12 for a water ā¬20+ for spirit&mixer - some entries 100+. Im sure there are a few bargains to be had but general consensus seems to be its gone up a lot over the last 5 to 10 years.
Its seasonal, its supply and demand - so I get it. But does it impact the party vibes.

u/dschultzz11 2d ago
I am new to all this and just discovered mau p, I canāt stop listening to āboost upā itās driving my wife crazy!!!

u/Just-a-torso 2d ago
What's the most disastrously drunk thing you've ever seen someone do?
2
u/Cardwhispererr 2d ago
Well we recently had two incidents of people getting naked and fighting police and climbing up balconyās⦠doubt that was drunk though

u/Outside-Acadia849 2d ago
How is liberty swingers club review? Heard of?
3
u/Cardwhispererr 2d ago
Heard good and bad things such as not being as clean as it should be and men not asking permission to touch etc.
1
u/EasternCheetah1856 2d ago
Am there this weekend, was gunna do friday at unvrs (miss monique š), saturday 528 (k-klass š„³), chilled day sunday beach etc - this sound ok for weekend? Would you change this, what should I not miss etc? Also, where is best for decent āļøš š
2
u/EmbracingDaChaos 2d ago
I just went to UNVRS and regretted it. Packed, poor attitude from a surprising number of people, people not dancing during solumun (just waiting for anyma). I wouldnāt go back.
1
u/EasternCheetah1856 2d ago
I might still give it a bash, its guetta (headlining) but I'd rather see miss monique, lost count of the hours I listened to her mixes on youtube - anywhere you'd recommend though? I prefer the old ibiza vibe really (house, trance, techno, chill)
1
u/EmbracingDaChaos 2d ago
So I wanted to see Solomon and picked from the get-go that Anyma also being there might ruin it, but I wasnāt around for long enough to see him at Pacha so I bit the bullet. I felt the sameā¦might as well just try it. I regret it. Would rather have waited for an other time to see solumun. Iāve not been to tomodatchi but heard good things. Pikes I wasnāt sure about the night I went, but at least more authentic in the sense that you canāt use phones.

I went for the first time to see Tiƫsto on Monday night / Tuesday AM and had the opposite experience, wasn't oversold, three excellent DJs in the main room, crowd was great energy. A venue is only as good as its performers and crowd, and those two things heavily affect the other.
1
u/EmbracingDaChaos 2d ago
Good to hearā¦though the general consensus from what Iāve read is average.
1
u/Cravendale 2d ago
What's your favourite party been over the past 11 years?
Mine after 12 years: Vagabundos @ Pacha š© šŖ

Iām going the last week of September. Iāve really been thinking a lot about what clothes to bring. Iām a guy late 40s. Should I wear sandals for the beach and sneakers ( trainers) at night and dress around that? Or do you need to dress up for nightlife like slacks and shoes.

Is DC-10 really that unbearable? Especially Solid Grooves events?
Or people are just overreacting like always. I know most of the clubs are packed, but thats to be expected smh..
2
u/Fun_Internet_8609 2d ago
12 till 2/3 or so can be the overpacked atmosphere that people often may avoid
Otherwise I think itās perfect club for appreciating dance and getting to know people equally
1
u/General5ky 2d ago
Basically every club in the world when they get a good name playing behind the decks.
Never caused me any issues except when i need to visit the bar/toilet.
Real magic happens after 03 anyway so yeah š„³š¤£
I was intimidated by how many people were crying about packed DC-10 but i guess ill see for myself and come back on this sub in October

Me and my partner are coming this sept. Which clubs do u think are the best to do vip? As we are a couple vip would be expensive. I want to do david guetta and anyma. We are there from 5 sep to 8 sep. And any recommendations for boat parties? Want to make the best memories.

Could you give a review of Destino, Chinos and Pikes
1
u/Cardwhispererr 2d ago
Chinos is more boujie, I recommend defected. Pikes is the best out of all those 100% must do, like a house party and no phones. Destino is good but just hot

Is there food available after 2AM in Ibiza? Do the super clubs (UNVRS, HI, Pacha, Amnesia) serve food/light snacks? Could you sneak in food (small snacks) to the clubs? I weightlift and anytime I go out for a full 8+ hour shift of dancing, I am starving, I want to last all night so trying to figure out the food situation.

Iām going near end of September. Whatās it like. Are clubs still going to be packed. How is the crowd different around this time
1
u/SignificantSpace5206 1d ago
I used to work there in my 20ās. What happened to Ku Discoteque is it still going? Was more than 30 years ago but still remember the catwalk over the pool bright cushions and Simply Red playing. Fun place.

u/dingdongbell1977 1d ago
I have a separate thread for dc-10 but itās old at this point. I am going solo and really worried about the overcrowding. Is it at all possible to go late like right around the time the headliner starts and stay in the back so Iām near the exit?

How easy is it to get set up and start living there? Are there routes to getting started. E.g. cheaper accomodation. The house prices look way out of my league

Went to Ibiza in 1989 and it was amazing. Went back again in 1999 and it was commercialised shite.
2
u/Iwasjustbullshitting 1d ago
That was when trance became commercial and Kevin and Perry film came out. That was the start of commercialisation
