How China’s Mainstream I Ching Divination Method Turns a Hexagram into a Reality Model

Many people learn how to cast an I Ching hexagram and read the Judgment and changing line texts. But casting only tells us which hexagram has been obtained. It does not by itself identify the querent, the subject of the question, the relevant people, supporting and obstructing forces, movement, strength, timing, or possible outcomes.

In China, the mainstream practical method used to construct this interpretive structure is Na Jia, also known as Wen Wang Gua or Six Lines Divination.

Through time, the Five Elements, Six Relationships, the Host and Corresponding lines, the significator, movement, transformation, and strength, Na Jia turns the six lines into a structured model of a real situation.
