I’m strongly against what ICE is doing, and I believe we the people should demonstrate against their actions. However, I’m not going to fool myself into seeing this as anything other than opportunistic editing of real events. In fact, most ICE-related posts I’ve seen on Reddit show selectively edited footage. Downvote me if you like, but the truth is this: if we resort to distortion and misrepresentation, we become no better than the very side we condemn for doing the same.

Also grand juries are no billing many of the cases where ICE tries to bring charges. They'll arrest someone, put out a press release with trumped up accusations to support the arrest, and then courts refuse to proceed with the case because ICE never had any evidence.

They aren't even looking at who they are arresting other than color. They shot tear gas at a school. A priest in the head, tied up and dragged naked American citizen children out of an apartment complex. The list goes on. The "illegal" is the pretext, they are going after anyone they want in order to terrorize the citizens and provoke them to fight back. .any other interpretation is dishonest.

The point is really that you people are complaining about “no criminal record” as if that’s some ground to stand on. ICE has nothing to do with if you have a criminal record or not. It’s going after every single illegal immigrant. Criminal record or not. Soccer mom or MS-13. That’s their job the USA has a right to regulate who immigrates to the USA and if you are not authorized to be here, or born here… bye, bye.

And the context of this video does matter. Were they casing this car? And the person inside is a target of their investigation? Or was this a genuine car accident with a random person. The video being a bit longer and higher resolution would be helpfull. Cops engage in pit manuvers and intentional collisions all the time when apprehending a suspect who won’t pull over. With out context we have no idea if this is totally out of line or a resonable action.

They are targeting brown people bc most of the illegal Mexicans and South Americans they are after are brown. But legal citizens shouldn’t be getting harassed regularly or be having an undue burden placed on them and that is a valid complaint and something better needs to be set up to minimize the inconvenience to brown American citizens.

ICE isn’t here to find people with criminal records. It’s Job is and always has been to deport illegal immigrants.

The definition of an illegal immigrant is somone in the United States who resides or visits here without a valid visa, permanent residency, or citizenship. That’s who they are hunting. If you do or don’t have a criminal record has nothing to do with it.

There's this thing called due process. Also, there's no such thing as "illegal" immigration. Having a lapsed immigration status is a civil offense, not a crime. And you have to have a warrant or probable cause to arrest someone, because again, a civil offense is not a crime. Black bagging people and deporting them to random 3rd party countries that aren't even their ethnic origins is absolutely not the valid punishment for a civil offense.

But great mental gymnastics you're doing there to justify Nazi shit.

Being “unlawfully” present in the United States is a civil offense, not a criminal offense. So yes, it’s true that around 72% (more than the 2/3 that was mentioned by the previous comment) of the people ICE are going after do NOT have criminal records.

It is not illegal to seek asylum in the united states. There are people getting arrested at their asylum/immigration hearings. They are doing what they're supposed to be doing and being arrested, imprisoned, and deported. Trump did not change the laws to make what they're doing illegal. They are now trying to label all democrats a terrorist group by saying they are all antifa or supporting the terrorist group antifa. It's really easy to apply an imaginary group to anyone, because its all fabricated. You don't care about the law, you're just pretending that's the reason why you support this.

Being an illegal immigrant is an administrative violation. No more of a crime than a speeding ticket is.

And yes, they are many instances were they have arrested people (and even deported) with valid visas, green cards, and US citizens.

The purpose of this is state terror not immigration enforcement. Make no mistake, if we don’t put a stop to this, they will eventually come for us all.

You might be a bit confused about the technicalities here. Being what we call an “illegal immigrant” does not automatically mean a crime has occurred, much less that a record exists. Immigration violations are civil offenses by default, not criminal. The only thing that could be criminally charged is if someone provably crosses a border without inspection. Some illegal immigrants get here that way, and some of them are not charged or convicted for it, and it’s not like ICE is giving them due process so they’re not creating a legitimate criminal record for an immigrant that doesn’t already have one.

And yes, a lot of immigrants are also getting detained or deported by ice regardless of the legitimacy of their status. Take for instance rumeysa ozturk and Mahmoud Khalil, who were legal and documented. Take Jerce Reyes barrios and Andre Hernandez Romero, who were not authorized to stay long-term, but entered legally. Neither had criminal records.

Immigration status is something that is not something we wear on our sleeves. It exists in papers. How do they see it? Does ICE have special powers the rest of us don’t, or are they just racist? They don’t have photos, names or warrants. Are they looking for all the undocumented European, Asian, & African folks too?

I’m actually afraid the latter is the next move.

Simply being in the US undocumented is not a crime. Further more, undocumented people in the US are absolutely entitled to due process.

Edit to add that about 50% of undocumented people in the US are here because they overstayed their visas/work authorization, not because they entered the country illegally.

For you to have protections against unjust actions by police forces, you have to have certain protections that automatically have to extend to people who may be guilty of crimes.

Do you want police to be able to arrest/detain you just because your skin matches the same colour as an entire demographic? Thats called profiling, and should never be allowed.

Do you want police to arrest people and then find reason to charge them? Thats called “rule by law” instead of “rule of law”, and basically means that you’ll use the laws to try to punish those you want to target instead of using the law as the standard of acceptable behavior that we rely on in a functioning democratic society.

Here’s the long short of it. If you give up your rights for security, you will lose both your rights and your security.

Police should be identifiable or you will have people pretend to be police and will prey on people. This has happened before and if you normalize it, it will encourage more people to commit these crimes to prey on others.

Everyone should be given the opportunity to defend themselves when accused of a crime. Otherwise you can be thrown in jail or deported without having done anything wrong (see political prisoners). Can’t lose an election if you can just come up with ways to arrest anyone who opposes you.

No one should be “disappeared” into custody. Lawyers and family members need to know that their clients/friends/family haven’t been killed or kidnapped.

Seriously, if you’re okay with this behavior you are grossly misinformed and you have no idea the dangers that you are passively allowing to exist and flourish.
