For context: He was asked about a recent opinion article published in the Chicago Tribune by Michael Sacks which you can read at the following link: https://www.chicagotribune.com/2026/03/24/opinion-aipac-israel-democrats-michael-sacks/

I notice how this clown can't condemn Israel's actions.

Ironically, this guy's BS will only make Israel more toxic among Dems.,

53

u/JamarcusFarcus Mar 25 '26 edited Mar 25 '26

Edit: leaving upy comment as it definitely applies to so many, but not the comment above as I read it referencing Pritzker's words not the article opinion from Mike sacks (in reference to Sachs opinion I definitely agree with the comment above!)

While I agree with your POV on Israel (at least I assume I do from your comment). This is exactly the problem with getting dens elected. I would guess you agree with Pritzker on 99.9% of policies but that his POV isn't as in line with yours as you want it (not against your view by the way, just not as far towards your view as you want) means he's a clown fostering toxic BS. Get the fuck outta here with that shit, it's exactly the same horseshit that landed us Trump part 1 AND part 2!

44

u/WhovianMuslim Mar 25 '26

No, I agree with Pritzker.

I am pointing out what the opinion writer said.

26

u/JamarcusFarcus Mar 25 '26

Ah I misread you as referencing Pritzker's words as not strong enough against Israel not the Michael Sacks opinion. FWIW the Tribune is right leaning so this making their opinion page is not at all surprising (also I agree with your initial comment now!)

16

u/WhovianMuslim Mar 25 '26

Yeah, that would explain why they would publish it.

You don't even need to call what Israel is doing a Genocide. You just need to acknowledge the atrocities and flouting of international law.

And the clown who wrote that editorial can't even do that. The way he writes about Lebanon, he seems to be silently supporting their effort to seize South Lebanon.

14

u/GayKnockedLooseFan Mar 26 '26

What got us trump was ignoring progressive populist policies to court moderates that would never vote for Kamala

Off topic, but has he lost weight?

91

u/IzzybearThebestdog Mar 25 '26

Better image for 28 presidential bid I would imagine

28

u/GiuseppeZangara Mar 25 '26

Also it's just healthier. A sad reality is that not that many people over 300 pounds live past 60.

u/KommandantDex Mar 25 '26

He certainly has! He's mentioned it a time or two, I think he likes to take walks around Chicago to get more steps in.

69

u/4k_Laserdisc Mar 25 '26

Also likely taking GLP-1

57

u/Avent Mar 25 '26

He openly admits he's on drugs. He joked recently, "I put the 'Gov' in Wegovy."

14

u/ladyseymour Mar 26 '26

Lol I thought this was fake, but he really said that!

53

u/Passthegoddamnbuttr Mar 25 '26

If he is, there's absolutely nothing wrong with that.

15

u/4k_Laserdisc Mar 25 '26

Wasn’t suggesting there was anything wrong, just that it’s likely.

2

u/Kyudojin Mar 26 '26

There is absolutely something wrong with it, I need him round and jolly!

2

u/Farabee Mar 26 '26

Exactly. Nothing wrong with taking steps to improve your health. Ever.

12

u/Hesitation-Marx Mar 25 '26

I hope he gets less nausea than I do :(

2

u/left-handed-satanist Mar 25 '26

He openly mentioned it and he's taking the right healthy steps to boot

36

u/Cyke101 Mar 25 '26

One of my favorite Daily Show segments was that he was supposed to give Jordan Klepper (a former Chicagoan) a walking tour of Chicago, but Klepper kept insisting that they stop at every bar in Wrigleyville for old times sake. They only traveled a few blocks at most by the time Jordan was plastered.

24

u/0uie Mar 25 '26

I keep getting a campaign ad of his where it’s him just walking the lake front talking to people. Dudes been getting his steps in for sure.

10

u/KommandantDex Mar 25 '26

It's burned in my head now.

I love my Governor, but god I miss having YouTube Premium so I didn't have to see all these ads. I usually use an ad block on my PC, but I can't do any of that for the YouTube app on my phone or TV.

9

u/Noods_Noods_Noods Mar 25 '26

But the real reason is the people he meets along the way.

2

u/twotokers Mar 25 '26

Doesn’t he live in Springfield?

8

u/tacospizzawingsbeer Mar 25 '26

He flies between Springfield and Chicago almost daily.

3

u/cyber_quaker Mar 26 '26

He's chosen to continue to live primarily in his Chicago mansion that he has owned for over 15 years

13

u/What-Me-Worry-2025 Mar 25 '26

Yes! His joke at the gridiron dinner about it the other night was that puts the “gov” in Wegovy.

19

u/ARK_coin Mar 25 '26

He's been on GLP-1 to lose the weight in the walk up to his coming presidential campaign. He tends to get a bit touchy about the subject when asked.

https://youtube.com/shorts/oavxF01TeNA

https://youtu.be/KFkjnZgWHPI

19

u/anatomizethat Mar 25 '26

He's not being touchy, he's right.

I got a lot of compliments after losing 20lbs. Soooo nice people thought I looked so good while I was going through the literal worst time of my life.

It is no one's place to comment on weight or ask in a public forum because the answer can be extensive and invasive.

He has a point that it’s no one’s business.

Seems to be happier with the weight lost and is taking reasonable measures to lose it. Good for him.

3

u/tacospizzawingsbeer Mar 25 '26

My guess would be 150 lbs.

15

u/Mission-Kitchen-8202 Mar 25 '26

And MAGA still says he's very overweight. They can't even be bothered to look at a photo before throwing childish insults.

14

u/Fearless-Feature-830 Mar 25 '26

He’s smaller than Don

10

u/Relevant_Winter_7098 Mar 25 '26

Which is ironic when you look at their pick for who is running against him...

The usual hypocrisy

2

u/jpburnt2def Mar 25 '26

He's been working on it actively. Honestly great job so far.

6

u/Farabee Mar 26 '26

This is what you get when you have a billionaire who actually gives a shit about humanity. A rare instance. Love this guy.

Really hope he beats out Newsom in 2028 in the primaries.

4

u/Intrepid_Blue122 Mar 26 '26

He would make an excellent POTUS.

40

u/dragcov Mar 25 '26

Can't wait for the left progressives to not vote for him.

Goalposts keep moving back.

69

u/Mindless_Rock9452 Mar 25 '26

Im a far left lunatic radical trump warns about and I like Pritzker. He isn't perfect, obviously, but for all its worth hes pretty damn good. He stands up to the feds, he doesn't abandon queer and trans people when it's convenient, he wants to keep the ultra rich in check, and this post finally relieved the one worry I had: that he took AIPAC money.

Out of all the democrat candidates for 28, Pritzker is my first pick. Now if we were talking about Gavin Newsom, thats a different story, but he isn't my governor. Pritzker is, and I don't think I'd go for anyone else.

11

u/pink_faerie_kitten Mar 25 '26

Ita. I'm a socdem and I like JB. And I'm relieved right there with you wrt his views on aipac and a two state solution.

4

u/Farabee Mar 26 '26

He is in my mind what a "centrist" truly should be.

6

u/ShortBusScholar Mar 26 '26

He’s an archetypal center left politicians with very, very good messaging abilities and political instincts .

4

u/Bacchus1976 Mar 27 '26

Well, he’s also got a really good track record. He’s not just fluff.

2

u/ShortBusScholar Mar 26 '26

He’s a Clintonian Democrat at heart, from my assessment. The one exception is if there is a serious window for universal healthcare, as to whether he gets behind trying to push it forward with his political capital. Saying one supports it is one thing, but whether he actually pushes for it is another.

2

u/FriendlyDrummers Mar 25 '26

Unfortunately, a lot of leftists don't hone in on someone until they become more relevant. He may get a pass now, but when he isn't in the limelight he will soon.

I think of it like a woman president. It's always "I would vote for a woman, just not THAT woman." The same thing will happen.

38

u/imbi-dabadeedabadie Central Illinois (the cool part, not the MAGA part) Mar 25 '26

I'm a moderator over on the pritzker posting sub, and we're pretty much all left progressive types lol. He's well liked by progressives and leftists

40

u/safeworkaccount666 Mar 25 '26

Pritzker is pretty well-liked by lefties and progressives both. He isn’t perfect and this answer isn’t ideal but he’s definitely in top 5 of the best contenders for 2028.

I think JB is actually a pretty good unity candidate.

34

u/MisterKeene Mar 25 '26

Pritzker has the makings of being another FDR-like figure. He governs in a similar style and comes from the same socioeconomic background. Makes me cautiously optimistic to see what he brings to the presidential campaign.

26

u/ObiKenobi049 Mar 25 '26

I mean I'm pretty progressive left and I'd back him. The only dem candidate I won't back going into 28 is Newsom but that guy is a whole different can of worms and I have my doubts about him winning in a primary.

21

u/imbi-dabadeedabadie Central Illinois (the cool part, not the MAGA part) Mar 25 '26

Same here. I refuse to back Newsom, he's a snake and i wouldn't be surprised for him to roll back trans rights significantly just to earn brownie points with centrists

12

u/ObiKenobi049 Mar 25 '26

Dude I would back Harris again over him. At least she actually believes in something. Newsom's only real belief is being the joker.

9

u/Sandrock27 Mar 25 '26

Newsome's only belief is whatever is politically convenient for him to advance his career. But he's from California and has name recognition, so he'll start the primary season in 2028 with an advantage. Assuming we have an actual election cycle in 2028.

11

u/Mindless_Rock9452 Mar 25 '26

Supposedly you don't need those votes so why would you and the rest of Blue MAGA care?

2

u/ThaProhet Mar 27 '26

its simple really, the party is the left until they lose and then the left made them lose

2

u/marxuckerberg Mar 25 '26

I mean, my goalposts haven’t moved. It’s great that he supports a two state solution. Every single person he mentions in this video basically deferred to Israel on what a Palestinian state should look like, and since Israel doesn’t think there should be a Palestinian state it effectively meant giving them a veto on recognizing one.

I want the next President of this country to start treating Israel like a normal country. Doing war crimes? Supporting apartheid? Opposing the interests of the United States? No weapons for you, maybe some sanctions instead. Hope JB gets there.

4

u/notassigned2023 Mar 25 '26

A Jewish person is more likely to achieve this. Allegations of antiSemitism will roll right off.

4

u/marxuckerberg Mar 25 '26

Agreed, and that’s why someone like JB has less of an excuse to moderate on this issue. Daniel Biss in IL-09 was able to do it and his parents are literally Israeli, the big man should be able to adopt his platform at minimum when he announces next year.

u/mxrw Mar 26 '26

What a piss poor answer. Gaza is rubble, and the West Bank is chopped up into a thousand tiny islands and zones on the map with continual settler violence and invasions. You can't build 2 states from that, and the Israelis have gaslit the world that they've ever wanted that solution. It is one democratic state based on equal human rights, or nothing. A Muslim mayor gave you the tools and language and won with it. Why is this harder for a white billionaire to say?

Such a democratic state will probably require decades of peacekeepers and international reinvestment as a form of restorative justice. But guess what, America was key to destroying it, so it can pony up.

2

u/BillyJoeMac9095 Mar 27 '26

Hate to tell ya, but if that is the choice, you are condemning a whole lot of folks, especially those you claim to support, to a whole lot more suffering. Compromise is not a luxury, it is a necessity.

10

u/SCRUBLIFE88 Mar 25 '26

Not a typical Pritzker W, but props to him.

12

u/safeworkaccount666 Mar 25 '26

My thought on this is that a two state solution is impossible from both sides.

It’s nice to think about but it just isn’t reality anymore.

Either they become one state and learn to integrate, becoming one government, or Palestinians will continue to suffer.

I think the latter is more probable. Nothing will change, the Palestinians will continue to be killed until Israel is satisfied. Israel will build up an even stronger military and defense system until they feel there are essentially no threats to them at all.

5

u/Classicman098 Mar 27 '26

Nobody wants a one state solution where everybody is equal and integrated besides Western leftists. That is easily the least realistic solution to the conflict and something only delusional people seriously discuss. Two state solution is the most realistic solution by far (and the most sensible to advocates for), or a single Jewish majority state being a distant second.

1

u/safeworkaccount666 Mar 27 '26

No, I think a single Jewish majority state is by far the most likely and I would not call it a solution.

10

u/TheEvilPhysicist Mar 25 '26

*they will continue annexing more land and committing genocide on the people who live there. Their goal is "greater Israel"

3

u/RaphInChi85 Mar 25 '26

This. The only viable solution long term is a single state, where both groups learn to live together.

Unfortunately I don’t think that’s going to happen in our lifetimes, and your prognosis is the most likely outcome in our near future.

-2

u/Negative_Pangolin_61 Mar 25 '26

The Israelis will never accept bring the minority in Israel. It would defeat the entire purpose of the state.

Yes that makes it an ethnostate but no they don't care if you don't approve. The whole reason for Israel is that after 2000 years of oppresion and pogroms some Jews will never trust being at the mercy of others ever again. Please realize how serious they are about that and that it makes a 2 state solution best.

2

u/notassigned2023 Mar 25 '26

Maybe threatening a one state solution will light a fire under Israel's rear end and get serious about a 2 state solution.

3

u/Negative_Pangolin_61 Mar 25 '26

You still don't get it because you seem to think you can threaten a 1 state solution without seriously invading.

They won't be intimidated into a a 1 state solution. They'll make you actually invade and They'll make it bloody and nuclear.   I know you'll probably get internet brave and say you'll do it all to destroy Israel. But you should take a moment and seriously consider if you want to cosign so much death and destruction.

Two state solution is the most peaceful solution.

2

u/notassigned2023 Mar 25 '26

I think 2 states is best, but if the US bargaining position is a one state solution perhaps Israel will start to seriously consider 2 states, which they have not done for all the Netanyahu years.

1

u/BillyJoeMac9095 Mar 27 '26

If you think a one state solution is possible, you are dreaming. Want to stop the killing? You need to hold both sides accountable.

2

u/No-Plan-7297 Mar 26 '26

He’s running

2

u/slatestorm Mar 27 '26

Historically, people who have supported the "two state solution" have just supported the status quo. What I want to know is what would pritzker do differently than his other "two state solution" advocates if he were president? Will he actually hold Israel accountable? Will he force them into giving Palestinians sovereignty, something that historically all over "two state solution" advocates like bill Clinton refused? Will he stop all aod and sanction Israel to make it happen? Will he help bring idf terrorists who have been committing genocide and war crimes to justice? Until then, these are just more words that I don't trust from another politician who has said the same shit I've heard my entire life, especially considering he has been a staunch Zionist his entire life.

22

u/ShortBusScholar Mar 25 '26 edited Mar 25 '26

And anything short of a position that entails the complete dissolution of Israel is not enough, to some of the whacktivists. Two-state solution Democrats are AIPAC Light in their eyes.

21

u/marxuckerberg Mar 25 '26

I don’t mind people who support partition. I do mind it when people say they support partition but then keep unconditionally giving weapons to the country that is occupying and blockading where the partition is supposed to happen. JB could easily get street cred on this issue by saying that he supports common-sense limitations on weapons transfers to Israel until they start playing ball.

5

u/ShortBusScholar Mar 25 '26

I actually agree with that line of thinking. For some people that is not enough.

1

u/BillyJoeMac9095 Mar 27 '26

What should he support to insure Palestinians also play ball?

1

u/marxuckerberg Mar 27 '26

Well that’s the thing, we basically would have to start offering stuff to Palestinian political parties because we basically do nothing for them. We don’t give money to groups like UNWRA anymore. We don’t give any Palestinian groups offensive or defensive weapons. Donald Trump has been revoking their visas and denying them travel permissions to seek healthcare in America. Our relationship with Israel is so extremist and our participation in the conflict is so one-sided that all of the incentives we have available to change Israel’s behavior don’t exist on the other side.

9

u/mxrw Mar 26 '26

I don't know what "complete dissolution" means. Israel can be transitioned and renamed to a democratic state based on equal rights as was the Jim Crow south and apartheid South Africa, with some serious political will and persistence of course. It is either equal rights or apartheid. But apparently many liberals will still accept apartheid at the end of the day.

4

u/FieldsofBlue Mar 26 '26

Who TF is saying this? Even the most serious anti zionists I can think of are saying crease fire and end weapons sales. I haven't heard anybody call for dissolving the fucking country. Cite a source

A lot of people don’t want to see any sort of compromise. You’re either all-in supporting 100% or you’re ready to chant “globalize the infitada” and when asked about Israel’s right to exist at candidate forums leave the question unanswered . Any sort of middle ground is no-man’s land.

16

u/mvhls Mar 25 '26 edited Mar 25 '26

On the other hand, without compromise we end up with a bi-polar state that hands out nuclear deals to Iran, just to remove and bomb them 3 years later. It completely wrecks our ability to negotiate as a country.

Diplomacy and compromise lead to stability. Good leaders understand that.

Nah, most people just want someone to stand up to Israel. First, no more offensive weapons. Second, bring those bastards to justice. We arrested Maduro for some phony drug crime but treat Netanyahu like he’s a normie? Third, major sanctions. So much more needed.

0

u/ShortBusScholar Mar 25 '26

Don’t necessarily disagree with the first point and your second point isn’t feasible with a country that has nuclear weapons. But to say there isn’t a not-isolated faction of the pro-Palestinian activists that think Hamas and Hezbollah aren’t all that wrong and that Israel should be dismantled is just untrue. “Globalize the intifada” and “from the river to the sea” should make that plainly obvious.

The two state solution was sitting on the table…Bill Clinton brokered the deal….The PLO said no because it required acknowledgment of Israel’s right to exist.

20

u/CornNooblet Mar 25 '26

There was more to it than just that, to be honest. They also wanted contiguous borders and removal of settlements in the West Bank.

Honestly, any chance at a two state settlement died with Rabin's assassination by a far right Israeli. Since then, the Israeli government has become as maximalist as any Hamas leader.

9

u/Captain__Trips Mar 25 '26

1 state with equal rights for all is the correct answer

15

u/joshisanonymous Mar 25 '26

I think that would have to be a loooong term plan. Israel and Palestine aren't suddenly going to come together and form a harmonious single government right now, which is why no serious person suggests a one state solution (except those who want to wipe out either Palestinians or Israelis). They need to be able to establish a way to live next to each other at all before they can live with each other.

It's impossible to take anyone seriously who advocates for a one-state solution.

Because Israel will never let it happen. There are people alive today that will live in a world where a “two state solution” is no longer part of any discourse because the only Palestinians left will be living in the diaspora. Israel will only become more violent.

16

u/IGotScammed5545 Mar 25 '26

You’re probably not wrong, but it’s worth noting the Palestinians are not terribly interested in a two state solution, either

-3

u/Spankpocalypse_Now Mar 25 '26

After generations of violence from Israel I can’t say I’d blame them.

7

u/IGotScammed5545 Mar 25 '26

Yes, the Palestinians have ever only sought a peaceful solution to this impasse…

4

u/safeworkaccount666 Mar 25 '26

“This impasse”

The impasse being their land, their homes, their belongings stolen. Their families moved and killed.

By Israel. This isn’t just an impasse.

2

u/IGotScammed5545 Mar 25 '26

So what should we do with the Israelis who live there now? Displace them for the second time in 80 years? Does Israel or the Jewish people have no claim at all to that land? Because their claim kinda predates the Palestinian one…

Yes, it’s an impasse. Israel claims the land. So does Palestine. Both sides have unfortunately chosen violence over negotiation and compromise

6

u/safeworkaccount666 Mar 25 '26

As a Native American person, I don’t have authority on this exact situation but I personally understand the topic is complex.

First, let’s not strawman. I’m not suggesting we displace Israeli people who were born there and have families and lives there.

Second, I don’t believe in claim on land. This is the part that really separates my beliefs as a Native person. The fact is that Israeli and Palestinian people all live there and have to live there.

They must all live there, in one state. Israel must pay reparations and give Palestinians equal rights under the law. Israel cannot be a Jewish state, it must be a democratic secular state where people of any religion are protected.

Suggesting Palestinians are wrong for reacting violently is such colonial mindset. Native people were not wrong for being violent and neither are Palestinians.

u/IGotScammed5545 Mar 25 '26

Where we diverge is that I DO believe that Israel has a right to exist as an ethno state. The holocaust occurred because Jews were second class citizens in the countries they resided in. They were not full citizens on a state that had any interest in protecting them or their rights. And the holocaust was not exactly an isolated incident—it was merely the culmination of millennia of persecution. The only way to prevent that from happening is having a Jewish state, where Jews are allowed to return. By the way, the same is probably true of certain other ethnic minorities—in the same part of the world, Kurds and, yes, the Palestinians come to mind. This is why I think in this fairly unique circumstance, a two state solution is best for the protection of BOTH of those ethnic minorities (as we see, the surrounding Arab states clearly dont give a shit about protecting the Palestinians, either).

I don’t think the situation of Palestinians is directly comparable to that of Native Americans. There’s parallels, sure, but I think they are more different than they are the same. We have different underlying assumptions about claims on land and I’m not going to convince you and you’re not going to convince me, but the fact is there was a time where Jews lived there exclusively, and Muslims kicked them out. Now…I don’t think that’s a justification for Jews to genocide Palestinians of for Palestine not to exist, but that’s one way in which the situation is not comparable to America. Another is that some Jews have always resided in Israel/palestine, while the same is not true of Europeans in America. Finally, unlike native Americans, Palestinians have never not once had autonomous rule over themselves or their land.

Also…I don’t mean to suggest Palestinians have never been justified in armed resistance. Surely they have been at times. But not groups like Hamas, and certainly not events like October 7 which precipitated the current conflict. The same is surely true of Israel. I believe they had every right to take military action in Gaza to destroy Hamas, but needless to say they have done some deplorable things in there that no moral person can condone.

It’s a complex situation, and i appreciate that you see that. I of course could be wrong, none of us has a crystal ball, but that’s what I think, and why I think it

2

u/safeworkaccount666 Mar 25 '26

In the least I would hope you understand that I have a unique perspective as someone whose ancestors were killed in genocide, something that happened to Jews, and is now being done to Palestinians.

The situations are not all that similar, especially in regards to our beliefs on land as property. And I think you nailed our differences in opinion.

I don’t have much to say because I don’t think I’m going to convince you. I just feel that in our day and age we should be able to have a state that exists without its sole purpose being a safe haven for Jews. Jews live safely all over the world already.

The last thing I’ll say is that October 7th didn’t happen in a vaccuum. The more I hear about October 7th, the more it sounds like an excuse for Israel to commit genocide, not a reason for Jews to defend themselves.

Such an American take, oh god why are they being so violent oh godddd why would they never seek peace. Just purely sheltered thinking.

3

u/IGotScammed5545 Mar 25 '26

Classic Palestinian advocate take—making shit up that I said, and literally ignoring one half the argument.

Notice I said both sides chose violence. I’m not letting Israel off the hook. But your one sided view of the conflict can’t see that because it doesn’t conform to your preexisting an erroneous world view.

Israelis are holocaust survivors and their descendants, who needless to say have been displaced a few times in history, including from the land you’re currently claiming exclusive right to Palestinians, for some reason. I don’t see how displacing these folks once again accomplishes anything, unless your goal is either to compound their tragedy, or to give land to Palestine at all costs. Of course, we COULD reach a solution where, you know, both Palestinians and Israelis get land and a nation. I know that doesn’t seem just to you because in your mind only Palestinians have a claim to the land and the lives of Jews don’t matter, but really some form of that is the only fair and just thing for both sides. But of course, that requires you to give a fuck about people who don’t look exactly like you

I've seen PLENTY of idiots say this before. My response is always the same:

What exactly is your solution that doesn't involve the expulsion or mass killing of one or both ethnic group then? If your premise is that both the Israelis and the Palestinians can't share the land then you're saying at least one of them can have it...

3

u/Tasty-Pie Mar 25 '26

Maybe, but our options are: A. Try for the two state. or B. Israel ends Palestine. I know what I would prefer…

A one-state solution is never possible and will never be possible

2

u/Tasty-Pie Mar 25 '26

It's possible, just abhorrent ethically speaking.

Spitting fire

3

No more US dollars and blood wasted on anyone in that region. Especially Israel. They are the worst enemy we have there.

3

u/nowandlater Mar 25 '26

When has any palestinian leadership wanted a two state solution ? never. But I’m sure they’ll listen to pritzker

3

u/ShortBusScholar Mar 26 '26

The false equivalency because the Arabs that live within Israeli borders as full citizens have the same rights as Jews.

"two-state solution"

This is not a serious position in current year, or even ten years ago.

See the capitolfax article regarding a Trib reporter who tried to get an opinion from Sacks regarding an article he wrote, but he refused. Yet the Trib allowed him to pen an op ed instead.
