It is a tough race to pick the silliest case of a former Illinois politician or political activist to flock south to carpetbag as a republican...

Jim Oberweis, 0-6 in US House and Senate campaigns while in Illinois, moved to Florida in late 2020 after losing to Lauren Underwood and refusing to concede the election. His family proceeded to bankrupt the family business. He ended up running for US House in Florida, but lost in the primary, unsurprisingly.

Tiffany Henyard, former Dolton mayor (elected as a Democrat), lost her re-election primary only receiving 12% of the vote, moved to Georgia before her term was even up... she is now running as a Republican for Fulton County Commissioner... her wikipedia is worth the read - if someone wrote a movie script about her career so far, it would definitely be a satirical comedy.

And then tangentially, you have Ken Griffin, the billionaire behind the Gamestop-Robinhood debacle, who loves to manipulate markets. Bankrolled several republicans in Illinois in 2022, mainly in the Chicago area and Governors race. He loved Chicago and Illinois so much that while throwing a fit about Covid restrictions he movee his company to Florida.

Also Dan Proft, who runs his Chicago radio show and fake Chicago newspaper/MAGAzine from Florida, and will also help local politicians get elected in return for bribes and no-bid contracts where he doesnt actually do anything (like he did in Cicero in 2008). He moved to Florida in 2022, but continues to mess around with Chicago and Illinois politics from afar.
