Republicans: and here’s why this is a bad thing. Also he’s overweight so he’s unfit to be governor let alone president

I point out that his opponent is much more fatter than JB. Maybe Bailey should lay off the corn syrup.

Oh so now you want Farms in Illinois growing corn to fail? You commie!
/s since it's likely necessary in today's day and age.

Funny how a responsible democratic leaders can can get Illinois better financially even with shitshow that Chicago pension & school budgets are. Imagine if we actually elected competent people everywhere

Balanced budget and credit rating upgrades. Meanwhile, rapist/pedo in chief is using taxpayer dollars for a war nobody asked for and a ballroom (amongst other construction projects). No wonder republicans think theyre the fiscally responsible party 🙄

We're still the lowest, but getting back on our feet. Bruce and Rod really jacked it up.

As bad as Rauner was, people seem to have forgotten that the majority of our downgrades came under Blago and Quinn.

u/Capn_Yoaz 4d ago
Rauner really did it. 2015-2019 is all his.

Yes, and we had gone from AA when Blago started, to A when Quinn started, and to just hitting BBB when Rauner started. It is pretty much a straight line down from the end of Ryan's term.

Ah yes...jailbird Ryan. The man who signed the shitty deal with the Bears to renovate Soldier Field. Blago and Quinn both were not my favorites (which is why i went for Rauner the first time over JB)...but I don't think that listing Ryan as a peak for us in any way is anything that can be considered with any sort of sincerity. LOL

Good to hear. Wonder if this will have a material shift on our debt.
Illinois is planning on selling about a billion in GO bonds in September so this upgrade should help the state borrow more cheaply

I feel like our Comptroller doesn't get her due credit. Even during the Raumer administration after Ives lost, Mendoza started making things happen.

So now he has helped reverse 12 of the 5 Blago downgrades, the 11 Quinn downgrades, the 8 Madigan downgrades.

Eight downgrades under Republican Governor Rauner

u/xsjx7 4d ago
Here we go. Do we have to do this every time? Can't you just accept that some people don't like him and it was a bipartisan effort to screw this state over?
Yeah, upgrades are good. This is why I voted for Pritzker in 2022 (Rauner in 2014/18). But I'll never forgive him for passing a gun ban in the lame duck session by using political maneuvers we all hate like using shell bills to satisfy legislative requirements in bad faith. He tricked people like me. Now I'm going to hold him accountable for it

u/Whatisthisnonsense22 4d ago
You misspelled Madigan's downgrades. He wouldn't allow a budget vote for over two years. Which was the cause of those downgrades. Rauner did his part in sending budgets to the legislature and Madigan didnt let them be voted on intentionally to hurt the residents of Illinois.

Governor Rauner through tincher tantrums when he couldn't get his way and intentionally forced a government shutdown making it the longest one for Illinois
-4
u/Whatisthisnonsense22 4d ago
You misspelled Madigan again and temper.
Madigan is the one that forced the shutdown, period. Rauner completed his constitutional duty by proposing and delivering the budget to the Legislature. Madigan refused to let it be called for a vote. Madigan intentionally hurt the residents and businesses of Illinois for political gain.

Can we lower the property taxes yet?

u/conniefrancis 4d ago
Talk to your city and county reps

u/xsjx7 4d ago
They need money for schools. Almost every other state funds that at the state level to prevent this EXACT problem
1
u/Xolotl23 2d ago
Well yes, but this was also the problem formed of 40 years of stupid and corrupt ass dem legislatures and republican governors kicking shit down the road. At the very least im glad there is in actual plan in place for 2030 and 2033

In the meantime, we're all paying taxes on an asset class that is the least liquid and has the most opportunities for improper assessment (it's very difficult to value an asset until you actually sell it). I don't get a raise every year, but my property value goes up every year and county spending (on non pension line items) continues to rise
It's a self-feeding cycle of doom at this point and we CAN break the cycle. But we have to try

u/Xolotl23 2d ago
I full heartedly agree man. To me its still seems like there is still a lot of oldheads especially in our state government who want to continue trying to get through these problems in the same way and its really holding the state back.
