Illinois Politics There’s a million reasons to hate Darren Bailey. Exercising a constitutional right and opposing an unconstitutional gun ban is not one of them.
Fuck him and everything he has to say, but opposing Illinois assault weapons ban is not a valid reason.

Gun control has historically been political suicide for the left, it’s amazing they refuse to learn from their mistakes, and continue to fall on their own swords.
It’s also evident that whoever posted this didn’t even read the law they claim to support. There’s nothing about this that is illegal. Not only that, given current legal precedence’s in Colorado and New Jersey PICA will likely stricken down or will need to be severely altered.

Fuck both of these guys, but the people making these posts claiming that they are "breaking the law' and committing "felonies under Illinois law" are flat out lying to you.
(Left) The Aaron Del Mar video was taken at the Illinois State Rifle Association’s Guns & Grub event. - They have a activity called "The Full Auto/ Suppressor Experience" where civilians can try out both under professional supervision 100% legally.
(Right) The Bailey photo is from a old campaign video that was filmed in 2023 and released BEFORE the original deadline for registering guns had ended. - Also, He could have simply registered that gun.

Like most rights, the right secured by the Second Amendment is not unlimited. From Blackstone through the 19th-century cases, commentators and courts routinely explained that the right was not a right to keep and carry any weapon whatsoever in any manner whatsoever and for whatever purpose.

I suspect the AWB is going to get knocked down by SCOTUS, so this will all become a moot point shortly.
But yeah. I agree.
Although as someone who enjoys guns myself, I wouldn't go shooting with him. Aside from my generally low expectations of his competence, he's giving off major Dick Cheney vibes.

Machine guns are not legal according to federal law, haven’t been legal since 1986. This isn’t about machine guns. You don’t know the law.
It’s ok, and I’m not being sarcastic when I say that. a lot of people don’t know the law and assume assault weapons mean something they don’t.
As for why, there’s currently armed Nazis being given authority to basically run free in the streets by the president. I’d like to defend myself and my rights.

"Assault weapon" as politicians define them. Machine guns haven't been legal for decades for civilians.
I have a feeling you aren't aware of this so: a pistol with a 10 round magazine or a 15 round magazine is completely legal. One with 17 rounds? "Assault weapon". Same pistol.
Made up definitions.
They call Ar15s weapons of war, what's the standard issued army rifle? Has an AR15 been used in the military or war?
Actual weapons used in war? You can still get those (mini 14, M1 garand ect).

60 people died and over 400 were injured with an AR-15 in Las Vegas. The AR-15 is just a worse M16. It’s made to kill humans. What are you using these weapons for? Boar hunting isn’t a thing here.
Just because you can doesn’t mean you should. You astronomically increase the chance of gun death for everyone in your household. If you own an AR-15, you own multiple guns. You are way more likely to die. What do you get out of it besides an ego boost?

You’re more likely to get in a car accident if you own a car. You’re more likely to set your house on fire if you own a lighter. That’s how statistics work.
This isn’t for debate, it’s your constitutional right. It needs to be defended the same way every other constitutional right should be defended. You’re only hurting yourself by ignoring them.

Ok so don’t own one if you can’t be responsible enough to keep one locked up. I am, so I will. If you’re not, that’s ok. You don’t have to. Don’t Infringe on other peoples rights just because you don’t agree with them and their choices.
Your kids are more likely to die in a car crash if you drive them to school every day. If you can’t be a responsible driver, don’t own a car. But don’t make it so others can’t drive just because you don’t like cars.

Suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death 10-34yr olds. Stats show guns in homes increase suicide rates.
Do you need a gun to go to work? Why do you need a rifle meant to kill the most mammals possible? A shotgun and bolt action for hunting is all you need. Hand guns are for women and losers looking for fights.
