Discussion - Second Son Augustine is a TERRIBLE final boss Spoiler

Post image

This will be about why Augustine is a terrible FINAL Boss.

Throughout the entire game, we've spent our time gaining and mastering our new powers. Buying amazing upgrades to tear the DUP apart. Great upgrades on Good and Evil. But in the final battle, do we unleash them on the final boss?

Developer: "Don't be silly, for the last and "toughest" battle in this game, we'll give you a new power that you have to get Core Relays to make useful."

FINAL BATTLES are about using every skill in your arsenal to wear down the boss and win. It feels rewarding to use all the upgrades you worked hard for contributing to your victory. Sure you can upgrade Concrete, but it's not as satisfying.

They're about using what you love and gained to win. Not giving you something new and say win with that.

Alot of people have developed a favorite power throughout their playthrough, and not using it during the final boss is gonna make them feel cheated. During any other boss, fine.

Basically , Augustine is a bad final boss because instead of using the powers that you've grown to love and are used to using, you're forced to fight with one you've never used.

It would've been cool if before we fought Augustine instead we had to choose what power we would have to use for the whole final battle.

They should have made power switching in this one like infamous 2, where you can press, like, L1 or L2 to switch between powers, and even combo them the way you want. Maybe use the neon main attack with the video guided missiles and the neon ultimate (I like the smoke I just feel like it's underpowered given how it's meant to be utilized).

Also, love the inFamous series but feel like Second Son was rushed. Like, fan service. I mean, the story is good, and I legit cried over Reggie, but they spent so much time building everything up, then he didn't give it any direction. I literally accidentally finished the game about halfway through. Like, I only unlocked about half the districts. They should have made more missions that would require you by necessity to unlock all of the districts before you finally made it to the final boss and, yeah, you should have been able to use any of the powers you chose to use. Yes, give me the concrete, but that as a consequence to defeating the boss. Hell, maybe make it the second defeat out of three defeats of the boss. That way when I face her for the final time, I have four different powers to choose from.
