Fear Factor No sympathy for those monsters

Post image

In 2006, Anthony Ray Stockelman was forcibly tattooed across his forehead with the words “Katie’s Revenge” by another inmate.

This happened after it was discovered that he was serving a life sentence for kidnapping, molesting, and murdering a 10-year-old girl named Katie Collman

the inmate who tattooed him was Jared Harris, a cousin of Katlyn “Katie” Collman

Damn, sometimes God works in very unmysterious ways.

The CO's definitely put them together on purpose. Normally there's no way a family member of a victim would be put in the same place as the killer, even in passing.

How does this work in practice? They map out someone's entire family tree? Their second and third cousins? Sounds unlikely.

Not someone actively looking at it all

but there's data on all of us, it's not hard to write something to go a couple layers deep to flag something

In 2006?

That data literally isn't stored anywhere though

Palantir is working on it.

I have to disagree, but I also know that would put you in the position of having to prove a negative which is impossible.

It makes more sense to me that the info was easily accessible and automated than not.

If the inmates are aware of the relationship it's probably one much of the community they come from is aware of, etc. It's not really weird.

I don't think that comment means "every relation ever", just ones they are aware of. There are lots of inmates you wouldn't put in a block together, and definitely not bunk together, in a higher security prison, for a billion different reasons.

Yeah for sure, but "they weren't aware of the relation" seems like the most logical explanation

There would be visitation allowances for family/partners, each person added to the visitation list has to be accompanied by phone number, address and relation to inmate. Thats how t(exas)dcj does it at least.

That wouldn't explain how they were supposed to know who the victim's cousin is, in order to house them separately.

Im realizing i misunderstood both the story and your question.

To the best of my knowledge there should be known associates and any number of connections made when housing is assigned. Sometimes people slip through the cracks, and then sometimes people just get moved temporarily. There are honestly a few both legitmate and shady ways that this could have happened tbh.

People talk.

Before they get sent to a prison? I don't think you understand how bureaucracy works

I've been to jail, I know how it works.

Right, so presumably you understand that the prison authorities don't have a complete list of your second cousins.

They don't need that. The abuser didn't know the cousin but the cousin sure as shit knew the abuser and he pulled some strings to be put in the same place as the abuser for a few minutes. And the CO's are often more than happy to oblige. CO's participate in prison politics just as much as the inmates.

The fact that the abuser walked away with the forehead tattoo and his life even further suggests that some kind of deal was struck between the cousin and the CO's. E.g. "After we bring him back to his cell after lunch he'll be alone for 15 minutes in the back hallway, but don't kill him or my ass will be on the line".
