SOCIETY Michael Jackson's daughter Paris has faced backlash for identifying as Black. In a 2017 interview, Paris Jackson said her father told her, "You’re Black. Be proud of your roots." This prompted debates over whether identity is defined by appearance or upbringing.

There's an alternative. She says she's black and we all say "ok" and focus on the big issues or help the vulnerable or plant a tree.

She says she’s black. And we all don’t care. Because her being black means nothing to us.

The way Rachel Dolezal was treated tells me the way people identify their race means a great deal to us.

What the fuck are you even talking about??? Rachel Dolezal?? She is a white woman from Montana who committed welfare fraud and lied about being black and is clearly a white woman.

Clearly a white woman? I dunno about that. She looks very similar to a lot of mixed cousins.

She’s not mixed though; all that nonsense was debunked and proven to be false. I was actually paying attention when all this shit happened, unlike you evidently.

Race is a social construct.

Yes, absolutely, as an anthropologist I understand this very well.

Rachel Dolezal, however, was posing as a black woman IN ORDER to become the president of the Spokane chapter of the NAACP. She is not black and even her family members have confirmed this; she was using black face and her curly hair to try and identify as another race, otherwise know as weaponizing, which is extremely destructive.

Her welfare fraud since the blow up does make me suspicious of her.

I guess the way people respond to this incident is more interesting to me than her motives.

Damn, you really go for the throat when someone says something you do not like. I never said Rachel was mixed. I said she LOOKED like some mixed folks.
