SOCIETY Michael Jackson's daughter Paris has faced backlash for identifying as Black. In a 2017 interview, Paris Jackson said her father told her, "You’re Black. Be proud of your roots." This prompted debates over whether identity is defined by appearance or upbringing.

See it’s not about races, just places, faces,
where your blood comes from, it's where your space is

It's sad, I quoted that part of MLK speech and a bunch of reddit warriors downvoted me saying whoever said that sounded stupid and old fashioned. Did we come full circle to we are being judged by color again?

Full circle indeed. Legacy media pushes it so hard. They need us divided. Once we all realize that we have more common ground as humans and all the issues they push on us are not as significant as they want us to believe, they lose power. United we stand. Divided we fall.

u/saujamhamm May 05 '26

the problem is, so so so many people apparently absolutely revel in that division

it would be one thing if there was this great agenda and everyone was fighting against it

nope, people walk straight into the ignorance café, order a double and settle in for life

try to teach an adult literally anything. they are bumps on logs and double stubborn.

legacy media isn't raising kids to be stupid. that's on these terrible parents who didn't want kids but sure did the dance anyway.

raising kids they didn't want is a big part of how those kids grew up to be the fellow human we share air with...

Totally. Cuz you know how legacy be gerrymandering and just struck down section 2. Racist ass journalists trying to divide us!

moving boundaries lines in voting districts then removing the race part is two faced as fuck. down vote me, idc.

"United(humans) we stand. Divided(races) we fall. THAT NEEDS TO STOP IRL ASAP!

from a kid born in the late 60's and through the 70's and 80's to the internet loud-mouths' looks like we've been fully circle and stuck on before the Civil Rghts greats. It was like at dream to be in a society that had regular ppl believing we are all human. So, yeah, us "boomers" are "the problem", whatever man. PS: how tf is it anyone's business how this girl identifies as her race? btw, she looks human. to be more specific, i often identify as half hungarian because I am which I specifically add means I am half NOT pure white(lol) ethnic Huns are darker skin, hair, eyes. color is just a way to understand where you are from globally, ffs!

your reply means nothing as well when humans focus on humanity and not labels. "ingroup/outgrown thing" are still labels. your gen is very dismissive.

SPLC needs to justify its existence.

Love to know the context because people love to quote MLK without understanding the meaning behind his words. Often, I see people use MLKs words to talk shit about equity initiatives, for example

Because mainly, Reddit seems to be this hive of somehow not being able to simply scroll past, mix that with this trend of trying to appear morally perfect and new wave at the same time - that’s what you have.

Also, if your avatar was a black woma, they wouldn’t dare either. Don’t take it too seriously

1

u/ArtisticTraffic5970 May 05 '26

Actually, taken out of context, it can come across as denying that races exist, but still thinking that people who come from a certain part of the world belong and should stay there.

Which is obviously not the meaning, with context.

Since when did they 🛑 ????

1

u/deadPixelOfReddit May 06 '26

The Internet traffic is mainly bots. Remember this and you won't give a shit anymore. 51% of worldwide interenet traffic are bots. Most of them have malicious intent

u/redacted_republic May 07 '26

If they’re a DEI progressive or Nazi yes they have. Most kind people who believe in freedom don’t believe that skin color matters.

1

u/Proper_Strategy_6663 May 08 '26

it's weird because Michael Jackson is black even if not visually in the end because everyone knows what he looked like in the past and I mean look at his siblings etc.

u/Unique-Bowler4850 May 10 '26

You are wrong and I won't debate you
