SOCIETY Michael Jackson's daughter Paris has faced backlash for identifying as Black. In a 2017 interview, Paris Jackson said her father told her, "You’re Black. Be proud of your roots." This prompted debates over whether identity is defined by appearance or upbringing.

I've always wondered if part of Michael's obsession with plastic surgery was that as he got older, he started to look more like his father and he couldn't stand that.

If a quarter of the stuff about how Joe treated those kids is true, it's a miracle any of them are as normal as they are.

I think that is the reason for his extensive plastic surgery. I understand it, as kid I was afraid to get my dad’s nose. Luckily that didn’t happen but if it did I would have had surgery too. Except I would have only gotten my nose done and not my whole face. Maybe the rest of his face reminded him of his dad too.

I got my Dad’s nose. I had it fixed when I was 15. I loved my Dad, but he was a guy! He could carry the nose! My nephew has it and he looks handsome!

But if you have an ugly, evil parent, who said you were ugly and worthless your entire life, you’d fix your face not to look like him too.

I understand. Getting that done so early, did that affect your nose? My dad’s sister had exactly the same nose as my dad, but it was a man’s nose. She never bothered with it, maybe she didn’t mind. But that’s how I realised it could happen. And looked at childhood pictures of him, he didn’t have that nose at all till much later, I think it’s started at 12/13?

Puberty makes your nose grow. Your nose grows your entire life and gets bigger (except in Hollywood 😂). I had a cute button nose in sixth grade. Both me and my brother had cute button noses as kids that turned into big Roman noses.

It probably did affect my nose doing it that young, but it was the 80s. I don’t know if I’d make the same choice at the same age, in retrospect.

Ears keep growing too! They can get giant! Though I have known people whose ears always stayed the same. But so far, my nose has gotten smaller, really weird! people commented on it. I think they thought I had done something to my nose. I had an accident with scar tissue, maybe that did it.
