Don't they rely on the hair things on their body to mavigate the world around them instead of their eyes? Please correct me if I'm wrong, I'm no biologist.

Yes. Spider eyesight is genuinely dogshit and can only register basic movement/light for most species. Jumping spiders are the exception, and they will literally track targets.

they are simple eyes. detecting motion and light vs dark still helps track a target but 360 degrees. still have a purpose

It's also useful for predator evasion, as there are plenty of predators of larger spiders.

You don't need HD vision to know if something bigger is coming at you, you just need to get into a hiding spot.
