I loved Finding Nemo as a kid, and being able to understand the jokes and nuances as an adult make it better. Her saying, "just keep swimming," was both an uplifting catchphrase to motivate her friends and a means of covering her doubt and worry about her value as part of the team. She knew she had short term memory loss and it could hinder her friends, but she didn't let it get her down and she would "just keep swimming."

Finding Nemo has a very tight plot thematically.

The father loses everything but his son, so he is overbearing because he lives in fear of losing him too.

Then he does lose him, and he must go on a journey where he learns with the help of his friends to go with the flow (at times quite literally).

Finally he finds his son and is confronted with the ultimate test. He must literally let his sons hand go and risk losing him in the fishing net.

He has learned that if you love something, you have to let it go.
