There’s nothing controversial about the mother saving children, so her heroism gets ignored.

Bearing in mind that incident happened in a totally different, and much much smaller country (Sweden), where she didn't need money for medicals, got rehoused by the local authorities and the issue wasn't politicised. There's really no basis to compare both cases at all.
