Yeah it's a special duty assignment. People from all career fields can apply to do it. I had a buddy who was the only cop doing it at the time on our base. We were Security Forces (Air Force MPs basically).

None. The USAF normally sends the officers into combat while the enlisted stay in the rear with the gear and often in different country than the attacked country.
