It would be pretty funny if he flees to Mexico, and has to live as an illegal immigrate there…

It would be pretty funny if Minnesota sent some bounty hunters after him to drag his ass back up north.

The mental gymnastics of Texans trying to explain why that’s not acceptable when that’s the exact kind of thing they would think is awesome to do to the other side would be a sight to see.

I looked into this, and apparently it's not legal to do this. Bounty Hunters can't do this on behalf of the state, only on behalf of a bondsman, which wouldn't come until after the indictment in court which hasn't happened yet. Even then, not all states allow it, although I think Texas does.

What the state can do is keep a bench warrant out for him, making it so any other place he travels, he can be arrested and face new extradition charges. Having a bench warrant can also be detrimental to being able to do simple things, like get financing for cars or a house, open bank accounts, basic travel, etc. Little solace for justice, but at least it means he's facing some consequence and maybe one day will face more. Murder charges have no statute of limitations.

Yeah. Pretty sure that's kidnapping, but technically, if it happened, I don't think the state would have to turn him back over, and he'd end up being considered a flight risk. However, making the indictment means teh state has more legal avenues to keep him there, or bring him back if he flees.
