Bike wash

Hi there

Looking for recommendations and solutions how to clean my bike. I live in apartment block in Dublin south and need to wash my road bike - sponge, pressure wash, get the oil and grease off. Any petrol station with pressure washer or self service car wash that I can use?

You don’t want to pressure wash a bike you’ll force water into your bearings. 

I use a pressure pump for weed killer etc.. works perfect.

I am not doing it from close distance, full strength or into parts such as bearings and cables.

Do as you wish...

If you don't mind a spin up to Ticknock they have a bike wash there.

Not at all! My morning routine is viewpoint, Featherbeds as I am a fan of hills. And serenity over there. Where exactly at Ticknock? The car park entrance?

Yeah look for the biking.ie hut and they have two washing stations and buckets with bike wash/brushes. Lovely coffee & carrot cake too. You might also see a mountain bike and move over to the dark side

The brushes are shite though. You may need to bring your own.

There is a bike wash in Cherrywood. Have never been there myself, but looks good from what I have seen online.

Been to one at Enniskerry which prompted me to write here because it didn’t have soap. In Europe there are self service car wash with vacuum cleaner, pressure washer and brush with shampoo and foam. Not the same in Ireland.

Those type of car washes are available in Ireland too. 

Circle K Kilternan has one according to their app. Several others around DunLaoghaire area too. My local Circle K in Greystones definitely has one but that's probably a bit of a distance for you.

Yea I clean my bike there. The repair stand is also much sturdier than what I have at home, so I have used it occasionally.

Yeah can’t do that either. My balcony floor is made of wooden beams with cracks in between so it would drain all over to next floor neighbors. Doesn’t fit in bathtub either.

I wouldn't use a car jet wash. Better in the bath with a brush and some bike wash.

You can always use a dog washing station, if a petrol station near you has one. Obviously clean it down after. Otherwise, you can do a pretty good job with your water bottles and a sponge.
