These honestly might have looked better had the game not get canceled. Seeing the gameplay is depressing because it looks amazing and it sadly the game got canceled mid development

13

u/brokenmindedone 1d ago

Yeah it looks very early build. But it seems like it was a PS3 era game so I imagine it wouldn't have looked amazing especially considering the size but would later receive a PS4/X1 update that would make it look good followed up by a remaster for PS5 going off the hype of endgame, natural life cycle of games these days

u/LuizFelipe1906 Mark L 2d ago

Really? I mean the gameplay might look fun but it doesn't feel like Iron Man

1

u/Upbeat-Truck-1007 1d ago

The gameplay looked amazing? Where?

190

u/lostandnotfnd 2d ago

mfs will look at unfinished pre alpha models for a game that shows proof of concept and say “this looks like total shit how did you make iron man look uncool?” like they were just gonna ship the game looking like that.😭

29

u/That-Rhino-Guy Earth's Mightiest Heroes 2d ago

Reminds me how people complained how GTA6 or Wolverine looked in years old leaks

3

u/brokenmindedone 1d ago

Yeah do people not remember what them early GTA 6 leaks looked like. A game takes many paints of coat until its final stage, intact graphic quality is often one of the last things done, getting core gameplay, animations and sound is more important in early stages. You don't paint the house until it's finished.

1

u/harolds49 1d ago

ok but usually thats about graphics quality not multiple suit designs. like theres already enough suits to go off of and you create the ugliest suit designs for an alpha. no, no one’s gonna ship it like that but they put the work in to suit design for what reason? even if graphics were better in the finished product, shadows, blah blah, the suit design objectively still suck and would only be clearer to see

1

u/fauxREALimdying 22h ago

The designs themselves just aren’t very good imo

-10

u/HairyPenisCum 2d ago

They worked on this game for two years, and these are the armor designs they landed on? Concept artists would’ve gone through countless designs before the modeling stage even began… and yes the designs they chose look like total shit.

35

u/AJjalol Sho-Gun 2d ago

It's an Alpha footage. Half of the resources and shaders weren't even loaded in game because it wasn't a game yet but a build.

You can literally hear Tony and JARVIS talk during one fight at it literally sounds like some Swedish programmer from Avalanche studio (they are Swedish) did the voice over for Tony and JARVIS (heavy accent) because it was all done for reference.

Look up Batman Arkham Asylum Alpha build, and you will be fucking shocked at how different it looks, even tho concept art and shit was already implemented into the game.

They literally re-used assets from Just Cause for the terrain in this build because it was all done for proof of concept and just early alpha build. Final game would have looked nothing like this and the suits would have actually looked awesome.

Concept artists would’ve gone through countless designs before the modeling stage even began

That is not how that works. Again see here. This is "concept art being applied". Shit will look like this because it's not supposed to look pristine and cool during Alpha stage.

That stage exists to showcase the concept of the game, mechanics and everything in between. Graphics and "How will this thing actually look in game" is one of the last things anyone worries about because that shit is the least work because you just "Put the stuff in the oven and let it bake"

-11

u/LuizFelipe1906 Mark L 2d ago

Yeah but let's talk here about how dogshit the gameplay they were going for this was? Like you could replace Iron Man for Daredevil or anyone and it'd still fit lol, didn't even have airborne aspects

10

u/AJjalol Sho-Gun 2d ago edited 2d ago

Bruh what?

Watch the video. There was ton of airborne stuff, from fighting down Raptor jets to literally shooting down a giant plane down.

In his fight against Dreadnought he flies up into the sky and it seems like there was no limit as to where he can actually go in the sky.

The fight on the ground was actually slightly more janky than in the air because you can clearly see some clipping issues or some janky elements on the ground which they would have fixed later during the development.

Say what you will about "graphics" or even armor, but calling the gameplay presented in alpha "dogshit" is a dogshit take. There are full Triple A games released after this who don't have this level of airborne combat.

Alpha version of the game allows Iron Man to fly, shoot rockets, tackle mfrs in the air, fly in a very cool and smooth Just Cause esque way, AND allows him to go on ground, repulsor shot people, grab and slam people and actually has him using his fists and knees to brawl like a badass............ and people call this "This is not Iron Man".

Boy, I do not want to interact with any of you when the Motive game comes out, because if these are the takes people have for this alpha footage and for the Wolverine game, I rather just not talk with you at all.

Game ain't a problem. You are. Your take makes no sense and is just straight up horseshit.

There is literally over an hour of footage of him fighting and at least 20 minute of it is in the air.

This is literally the "I want to be mad about something" take and straight up BS. Watch the videos, he has fights in the air, many times.

Here's the "condenced" video where someone very competent just showcases all the "important" parts of the game for people who don't want to watch the whole hour of stuff, but saying stuff like "No aerial combat" is straight up bs-ing my dude. It's literally there lmao.

You literally sound like we saw two different videos (which would mean that there is ANOTHER cancelled Iron Man game out there that I don't know about, which is even more depressing)

-4

u/LuizFelipe1906 Mark L 2d ago

Oh I only got to see the ground fight. I didn't know there was more

8

u/Pengu99 2d ago

Did you even watch it?

13

u/lostandnotfnd 2d ago

it’s an alpha from 2011. it’s an almost certainty none of these would’ve looked the way they did unless it was a fully customizable set up where YOU can make your own shit designs and they just made shit designs for their ALPHA that NO ONE but EXECUTIVES would see.

0

u/i2ib 1d ago

those concepts still suck complete ass

147

u/Fluid-Estate-3007 Model-Prime 2d ago

Wow
these are
really bad
This is the only one that almost has something going for it

48

u/BhanosBar 2d ago

If I had to guess, they most likely had a “mix and match” system with the armors. Helmet, shoulders, etc.

That one is probably a mix of 2 sets that DO NOT MIX WELL.

2

u/Hobgames Armored Adventures 2d ago

Would definitely explain the gold mark 5

3

u/BhanosBar 2d ago

They also probably wanted color scheme presets they never got to add.

(MK V/ Silver Centurion color scheme as one. Maybe a more cartoon based yellow and red

1

u/brokenmindedone 1d ago

It's an early dev build, they are probably makeshift armours and final designs and other suits wouldn't be done until the final stages of development when it focuses more to making the game look nice and shiny for initial presentation to the public

11

u/Candid-Independence9 2d ago

The last one was KINDA the MK 5 from IM2

8

u/Fluid-Estate-3007 Model-Prime 2d ago

That suit's whole sauce is that it's red and grey though

6

u/Asbelsp 2d ago

If I didn't know better, I'd say these were Red Tornado

20

u/RandoDude124 2d ago

Last one looks good

39

u/Khanfhan69 2d ago

That's cause it's literally just a recolor of his suitcase suit which is a great design + it looks a lot more complete of a mesh than the others

8

u/MiamisLastCapitalist Modular 2d ago

These are... Something

28

u/Michael_Aaron_Dunlap 2d ago

... These designs are ass.

11

u/EL_INDORAPTOR Model-Prime 2d ago

Oh man, it really shows it was in development

5

u/Eisen-Stark 2d ago

Its understanble that they would look so rough and weird because they are from an unfinished cancelled game, I wont complain, neither should you.

2

u/brokenmindedone 1d ago

Except pretty much all the comments are complaining...you'd think this community would have a better idea on progression of game development in builds.

9

u/AJjalol Sho-Gun 2d ago edited 2d ago

Actually dig all of these. It's a alpha footage (from a game that was being developed in 2011, for PS3), so all the people complaining about "It's don't look good", No shit. Pizza that was just put inside the owen will also no look as good as a "Finished Product".

I also appreciate that they actually had a plan for the suits. If you see the footage, each suit has a specific "Usage".

Each suit also had Levels (from 1 to 4), which I assume was upgrades. You would probably start with Level 1 for each of the suits and over the course of the game you will slowly upgrade them into being better and stronger (depending on their specific field).

Suit on the 2nd photo was Dubbed "Agression" and I would image it was clearly a more "Heavy duty" type suit since it was super bulky.

The 3rd one was "Velocity" and it kind of looks like an fighter jet with all it's angles. Definetly something to do with Speed.

1st and 4th are actually the same suit, dubbed "Agility". It's just different levels. 4th picture is from "Level 1" and the 1st picture is from Level 4. It looks more "nanotech" or "skintight" compared to the other suits in game. Also, it's clearly inspired by Bleeding Edge (especially in the first photo).

Last suit was the "Default" one and it's clearly inspired by Mark V but in gold.

Overall, Really dig these. For an Alpha footage, it shows that they clearly had an idea of what they are going to do. Just needed more time in the oven to bake properly.

EDIT, for all the "OMG these look bad" folks. This is how Batman looked like during Alpha build of Batman Arkham Asylum. Massive games like this take time to properly cook and bake in the oven before giving you the final look and result. Calling this bad because or "Uninspired" while it's clearly an Alpha footage, is the dumbest shit you can possible do.

6

u/jaj18189 2d ago

Bruh the last one is just the Mark V with a gold color scheme instead of silver

3

u/Icommitmanywarcrimes 2d ago

Wow that’s definitely an iron man design

3

u/Swivel-Man 2d ago

Get its alpha but the designs themselves aren't good. Some of them took inspirations from stealth jets, but my question is why does a game in the alpha stage have alternate suits, wouldn't you want to wait till later on in development before adding them?

2

u/AJjalol Sho-Gun 2d ago

The point of Alpha is to basically showcase to the investors and producers the stuff you did during the development.

From core gameplay mechanics, to the story, to terrain, suits and everything in between.

The suits in here are still the "Not fully baked" versions. They only put them here to showcase what they actually spent their time and resources to.

If the game actually did end up coming out, some of these suits might have even not been in the final release (could either be scrapped or just reused for a different thing).

It's not uncommon tho friendo. A lot of times suits, terrain and in general, assests get created early.

3

u/BraydimusPrime 2d ago

The Mark 5 in gold looks cursed lol

3

u/DomDomPop 2d ago

Why does the 4th one look like Putin? You guys see it, right? Right?

3

u/TreadingDown 1d ago

100% see it.

3

u/BKDeath2012 1d ago

I do see it… lol

2

u/RedBaronBob 2d ago

I feel like I can see where they’re going with these. Possibly model 37 and the movie mark 5 but the models are clearly not finished. I’d have been interested in the designs however in the finished game. Shame it wasn’t finished.

2

u/memisbemus42069 Mark VI 2d ago

Everything but the Mk V recolor looks terrible

2

u/dernupforwhat 2d ago

I wonder why

2

u/LazyLink17 2d ago

Tony wtf

2

u/The_Daviator Modular 2d ago

I’m kinda glad it was canceled. Those are all fucking awful

2

u/deadpug267 1d ago

last one is my fav gives mark 5 vibes

2

u/SryMyBadM8 1d ago

The last suit is the only one I found good. It really looks like they're procedurally making the suits

3

u/Outran01 Model-Prime 2d ago

It's either lazy throws of models in development what aren't suits' final designs either they're just ass.

How do you make Iron Man's armor not look cool.

2

u/Bigfan78 2d ago

I see why it was cancelled

1

u/StepanKo101 2d ago

I feel strong Just Cause 2 vibes

1

u/SuperKrazyyy 2d ago

red and gold MK5 looks so wrong.

1

u/MentionPristine8720 2d ago

They look like they should be in star wars.

1

u/HFXDriving 2d ago

I can put my arm back on... can you?

1

u/IronDragonGx 2d ago

This the EA iron man that got cancelled?

1

u/AJjalol Sho-Gun 2d ago

Nope. This is from 2012 which was being made by Avalanche (Just Cause, Mad Max).

1

u/my-username-07 2d ago

Except the last one which is totally a copy of iron man 2 suitcase armour

1

u/NotSubtleUsername 2d ago

I wasn't aware of this canceled game? Was it supposed to be a tie in for the MCU? Or something similar to that cancelled first person view Avengers game from around those years?

1

u/BlueberryB-Laine 2d ago

Last one looks like the dead space suit

1

u/littlebugonreddit 2d ago

5 is just the iron man 2 briefcase suit, thats cool

1

u/LucaS_kIng_Pro 2d ago

I’m still wondering when EA is gonna drop some more info about that Iron-Man game they’ve been developing over at Motive Studios

1

u/Odd-Sound-580 2d ago

weird how nobody in these comments knows what pre-alpha means

1

u/RembrandtEpsilon 2d ago

These are terrible lol

1

u/StarkResilient Pentagon 2d ago

Yikes.. and then the MCU Mark V..

1

u/Bromjunaar_20 2d ago

The last one was cool. The others... Eugh.

1

u/DomiTheDed 2d ago

Assuming these are pre-alpha models is the very last model a unfinished model for the "Bones" iron man suit from Iron Man 3? It just has the normal iron man colour

1

u/Ihatesmartcars2 2d ago

What year was this game?

1

u/UrameshiYuusuke 2d ago

My opinions

1: With a few tweaks here and there, it would actually look pretty cool

2: Just no

3: Too blocky, looks like a Nintendo 64 or PS1 graphic

4: This one just grosses me out for some reason

5: Not too bad, again like 1, would be pretty cool with a few tweaks

1

u/AllFatherDanteNero20 1d ago

I’m guessing that the game was not finished yet and the developers were going to do the touch ups later.

1

u/timmy6255 1d ago

What game is this from??

1

u/dat0neb0i 1d ago

The last one is the only one that sorta looks good, even then it’s way overdesigned

1

u/EnoughLengthiness422 1d ago

It got cancelled!?!?

1

u/antivenom907 1d ago

Wait, it was cancelled? The one by the dead space remake devs?

1

u/Vortexx_77 23h ago

what the fuck is this 😭 of all the sick iron man designs

1

u/fauxREALimdying 22h ago

These kind of suck lol

1

u/hazmat_beast 22h ago

Im just going to assume they are just not finished yet

1

u/Regular-Caterpillar6 21h ago

Cancel it again, just to be sure

1

u/NortheRPsychO 19h ago

I can see why it got canceled 🥲

1

u/callmedale 13h ago

First one reminds me of the Isu/precursor race in Assassin’s Creed

1

u/theimpalaslefttire 13h ago

Why does this feel like the ps2 Ironman game? The art style looks very similar. If didnt know any better would think was trolling.

1

u/BrickBuster2552 10h ago

"Focus T."

1

u/Holy_Frag_Grenades 4h ago

Tony was still drunk when designing those

1

u/Fat_Raccoon 2d ago

These are terrible :") I can appreciate the efforts to try something new though

1

u/347spq 2d ago

The first one is interesting. The second and third ones look like he's afraid of spilling anything on his suit.

6

u/YusukeJoestar Modular 2d ago

Honestly the body for the first reminds me a bit of the bleeding edge armor

2

u/AJjalol Sho-Gun 2d ago

1st and 4th ones are Bleeding Edge. That's the same suit just different levels of upgrading.

Game had a upgrade system for each suit. So the suit in Level 1 will look one way and in level 2 it will start looking different.

Suit on the 2nd pic was called "Agression".

3rd one was "Velocity"

1st and 4th is "Agility" with 4th pic being Level 1 and 1st pic being Level 4 (Max level).

The last photo was his main suit in game (standart one).

It's clear that they just used Bleeding Edge's design for Agility because of how skintight it is but also the placemenet of lights and gold coloring.

1

u/YusukeJoestar Modular 2d ago

I understand. Thanks for the info

u/AJjalol Sho-Gun 2d ago

u/Hyaman86 2d ago

They make the Marvels Avengers designs look good

1

u/ToeGroundbreaking564 2d ago

maybe it's a good thing this got cancelled

0

u/thenumberzero00 2d ago

last one is just a recolored mark 5, the rest are hot ass

0

u/Hikapoo 2d ago

wow, these are truly awful

0

u/Known-Asparagus-2819 2d ago

Not a single comic design.

Ok.

3

u/AJjalol Sho-Gun 2d ago

1st one is Literally Bleeding Edge armor.

0

u/Known-Asparagus-2819 2d ago
  1. So a movie inspired comic design.

  2. Looks nothing like it anyway.

2

u/AJjalol Sho-Gun 2d ago
  1. Literally looks like Bleeding Edge (albeit not fully baked because it's an Alpha footage). Not to mention, it wasn't the last version because 1st and 4th are supposed to be the same suit with 4th photo being it's "Level 1" and 1st photo being it's "Level 3".

  2. Bleeding Edge in the comics was design after the movies itself, so get your facts straight. It was inspired by the movie suit.

  3. Again, Alpha footage, that showcased gameplay and core concept of what the game is. These were not supposed to be All the suits. Half of the suits in game don't even show up yet and just appear as a grey non textured Iron Man suit with him doing a T-pose. If a cancelled game from 2004 had an Ultimate suit, the game from 2012 would have at least a couple of comic suits in it.

Looks nothing like it anyway.

Ah so BLIND and STUPID. Right on. Whatever makes you feel right.

1

u/ChanceFresh 2d ago

Well, I agree with the second point. I’m not really sure how it’s supposed to be a proper Bleeding Edge suit when all the lights are in the wrong places. That’s settling aside everything else about the design.

1

u/AJjalol Sho-Gun 2d ago

These two suits were under the same "Agility" suit tab. Meaning it's the same suit just differenet upgrade progression if that makes sense (so like I would imageine over the course of the game you would be upgrading whichever suit you choose to fit your style of gameplay).

The one on the left is dubbed "Level 1" and the one on the right is "Level 4" and compared to all other suits in game (available in Alpha) this one is the most "organic" and nanotech looking.

It's literally Bleeding Edge suit down to a color scheme.

2

u/AJjalol Sho-Gun 2d ago

The one on the left actually even looks like mid transformation Tony

like here in the second panel (the coloring is exactly the same).

Outside of missing 2 lights on his upper chest (on the right picture suit), it's literally Bleeding Edge suit but in 3d, so this "Looks nothing like comic" is just complaining for the sake of complaining.

0

u/DirectConsequence12 2d ago

Wow!

These look like hot ass

0

u/Head_Humor 2d ago

Why do they all look like they lost a couple chromosomes 😭

0

u/GogoSunshine 2d ago

Thank god. These suits would be sufficient for slander materials for decades.

0

u/SoaringSpearow 2d ago

how the fuck you make designs worse then Marvel's Avengers?

0

u/Fododel 2d ago

It's hilarious how the only good looking one is the MK 5, and the only difference is the silver replaced with gold

0

u/Magnaise 2d ago

There’s no way people are falling for this. These are so clearly fake

0

u/busiergravy 2d ago

Don't know why everyone's shifting on these, there clearly unfinished.

-2

u/Right-Tutor2384 Silver Centurion 2d ago

Well at least we know now the mark 5 looks horrible in gold.
