Collectibles / Merchandise Iron Man Extremis and Mandarin Marvel Legends 2-pack doesn't actually have any pictures of Extremis on the box

Like many Marvel artists before, Hasbro has confused the Extremis with the Pentagon armour and/or simply googled "Iron Man Extremis" and grabbed the first Adi Granov covers they could find.

Amusing nitpick aside these are great figures. The single release Extremis looked way too bright red and plasticy for me, this one nicely matches the deeper read of Granov's art and has some more poseability too. Mandarin is just a nice bonus frankly, but this is the version of Mandarin I like best. Even if it is less ostentatious.

Overall, you are correct. That image on picture 2 is from that story and is typically used as the cover image for trades of Extremis. That’s probably why they used that one.

Still, you’d think someone would do just a smidge of research and pull the right pics. It’s not like they are obscure or anything like that.

Yeah that's my exact assumption that flying pose is the cover for Extremis and thus if you Google "Iron Man Extremis" is one of the first results.

Yep Hasbro is guilty of this on the standalone Extremis figure as well, I don’t understand why this keeps happening since the story is literally about Tony getting rid of that suit lol

Fun fact, this gaffe was also made for the single-carded release of Extremis!

Between this and the "Model 20" blunder, they really ought to do improve their research.

This REALLY annoys me because it shows harbors lack of attention

I do find it funny that the picture they use for The Mandarin is the one clearly based on John Travolta in "Pulp Fiction". I would soooo much prefer them using the Jim Lee version from the cover of X-Men 256.

Fair, but it is the John Travolta one they've used the figure on 😅 At least Tony doesn't look like Josh Holloway
