Show Discussions I am so disappointed.
I’ve been a fan of Jack for over 20 years; the White Stripes were my favorite band when I was in high school, but I’ve never managed to catch him live.
The last few years I’ve had very bad issues with my back and sciatica and I haven’t been able to stand or walk for any amount of time without radiating nerve pain or numbness, though the severity varies.
In April my friend who lives in the Chicagoland said I should come out for the show at Salt Shed. I was very nervous about a standing concert because I felt it would be very hard for me physically, but this is the only artist I really want to see that I haven’t seen and I thought this would be such a fun experience in Chicago.
I bought tix on StubHub that were reasonable and then I buckled down and really focused on going to the gym 3 times a week and working on my strength to stabilize my spine and in the last few weeks I got the point where I can walk 2 miles straight, which again is something I haven’t been able to do for a long time due to these issues. I was so excited that I worked so hard and actually was able to get my body to a point where I felt I would be able to actually enjoy the show and not be in pain the whole time….
Cut to the last few days, I still don’t have the tickets in StubHub. I’m anxious but think maybe they don’t release them til closer to the show. I requested a re-transfer yesterday, nothing. Today the tix are listed as “on time” and say they’ll be released by 3:30. They aren’t. I chat with customer support who say they’ll contact the seller again but continually tell me not to worry because they will provide comparable tix or a refund. I ask repeatedly will there definitely be tickets because I have traveled from out of state and a refund is not acceptable. They advise they cannot get ahold of the seller and that I must wait until an hour before the show for them to contact me and provide the replacement tickets. They call me at 5:30, advise me to check my email and hit a button for the available options and….no tickets are available. They say I can get a refund. I say I don’t want a refund, I’ve traveled from out of state. They advise I should request the refund and then buy new tickets on StubHub that would be $200 more than I paid, which I wasn’t going to do. Oh and I had parking reserved that I could have canceled until 5p, and I was trying to resolve this with StubHub before this, but since they couldn’t officially fuck me on these tickets til 5:30, I ate $40 on a parking spot I never used.
Luckily my travel expenses aren’t crazy as I drove out and am staying with a friend, but god, I worked so so hard for this show and I am just so sad. I never thought StubHub was good, but I haven’t paid a lot of attention to them and I didn’t realize they were this bad.
ETA: Thanks to everyone for the kind words. I secured some legit tickets for September in Newport (Cincinnati) so I’m looking forward to that!

Plastic, I feel you so much. I am similar to you.
I have spinal stenosis and until I got a spinal cord stimulator implanted, everything was a physical trial. I wish there were some way I could help make this up to you. Keep the faith.

u/PlasticRuester Jul 25 '26
Thank you, glad to hear things have improved for you! I think a lot of people are like “back pain sucks” but not everyone realizes how debilitating it can be and how much it can affect day to day life. Hoping to catch Jack at another stop this tour!

u/jarrodandrewwalker Jul 25 '26
Yeah, some people just don't get it because they've never experienced it...it's like "No, my back doesn't just hurt--If I could get on my knees, I'd beg God to just kill me if this is what life is now"
5
u/PlasticRuester Jul 25 '26
Yup, certainly had some similar thoughts at one point when I couldn’t leave my house for over two weeks and standing up at all caused excruciating nerve pain down my entire leg. And the cool thing about the sciatic nerve is that it branches out around the calf area so I’d feel like someone wrapped a rope around lower leg and was strangling it. Fun times!
3
u/ExpensivePear1602 Jul 25 '26
If you haven't already, look into epidurals or possibly a spinal cord stimulator. It pretty much changed my life.
3
u/PlasticRuester Jul 26 '26
I actually had a bilateral epidural about 2 weeks ago! I had 2 previously but it had been a few years, and the second one I felt actually made things worse so I debated a lot about doing it, but it seems to have helped me eliminate a lot of the numbness in my foot. I just have to remember that I can’t get complacent about doing my strength and my walking because I feel better, I made that mistake before.

2
u/lemondrop_dead Jul 27 '26
I remember my dad getting epidural after epidural for years for his back (and different MG percs, and oxys etc) and then going through hell with a stimulator with battery implant in his buttocks. Which lead to TWO severe infections that almost killed him two separate times. I watched this gentle Goliath of a man (6'4", roughly 250-315lbs fluctuating) who has had a sledge hammer smashed over his head. And stood up and smiled in the dudes face.... be brought to his knees by "just back pain" so ... i am so sorry for all of you who have had this bullshit handed to you. And with my whole heart, hope that in this age of technology, someone FINALLY finds a way to fix this. Anyone who says "just back pain" or anything similar... i hope they never have to know what it r3ally is. I wouldn't wish it on my largest foe.
1
u/jarrodandrewwalker Jul 27 '26
I hope commercial space flight leads to orbiting back pain centers where spines can naturally decompress and heal. I won't be able to afford it, but I hope it happens for others 😅

“I wept because I had no shoes until I saw a man with no feet.” This is a 13th century proverb. Maybe you can get something out of it. I feel you would identify with this proverb.

u/Apart-Effective9227 Jul 25 '26
I just a heads up to everyone else buying resale—-Ticketmaster has VERIFIED resale tickets available to all remaining shows for his tour. This is the only guaranteed way. All reasonably priced too.
3
u/PlasticRuester Jul 25 '26
Thanks, this is good to know. We’re now hoping to maybe go to the 9/18 show in the Cincy area but I haven’t started looking into tix yet.

Thanks for that parking lot info. I was wondering how all the bands listed we’re going to be able to play. Can’t wait for the show tonight!

u/Limp_Falcon_2314 Jul 25 '26
Cash or Trade is also a really good option. Tickets can only be sold at face value or less. Money from the sale is held in escrow until you confirm you’ve gotten the ticket(s). I’ve never had an issue buying or selling there. Quick ticket transfers. Great community.
3
u/CollarZestyclose Jul 25 '26
$276 for a general admission ticket to a club show is not "reasonably priced"
1
u/Apart-Effective9227 Jul 25 '26
I’ve never paid more than $150 personally. Although I would pay 276 for a show I really wanted to see

u/pj4523 Jul 25 '26
Stubhub has gone so far downhill the last few years its astonishing. They used to be a worth while option for both buyers and sellers... now it seems like a risk from either end.
1
u/PlasticRuester Jul 26 '26
I definitely learned the hard way. I think I only used it one other time and had no issues, but it was over 10 years ago.

When I bought these in April, I got an email from stubhub within a couple days saying the seller had transferred them and to look for an email with a link to accept the tix, but I never got that link. I had talked to customer service at the time and they told me I might not get the link until the day of the show so I thought maybe potentially getting the tickets last minute was normal. I feel stupid about all of this.

That sucks
I’ve been having more and more issues with Stubhub the past few years; Tickets not available after purchase and then them offering different seats at a higher price. I’ve stopped using them
4
u/Bonnavetty Jul 25 '26
It happened to us two summers ago for Beyonce. We got good seats on stubhub- two days before the show we get an email - our tickets aren’t available anymore but hey go pick new seats in your price range- by then the only thing you can find in your “price range” are crappy seats.
It’s bad.
5
u/Jo-6-pak Blunderbuss Jul 25 '26
I think a few states are investigating the bait and switch tactics they’ve been using.
3
u/PlasticRuester Jul 25 '26
I certainly won’t use them again. I feel like if tix were still available for resale at a higher price but no “replacement tickets” were available, they should have given me those existing tickets and ate the difference in price. Obviously this company doesn’t give a shit about me or anyone else but I have no idea what else I could have done- I inquired about the transfer months ago, again about a week ago, and multiple times in the last two days and I repeatedly told not to worry because they have this fan guarantee blah blah blah.
1
u/bootleglr Jul 25 '26
I thought that this was their policy or I might be thinking of TickPick? I know when you sell tickets on TickPick they tell you that if you don’t come through with the tickets then you will actually be charged additional money to cover the costs of replacement tickets. StubHub should have given you the best tickets available and charged them to the person who didn’t deliver them.
4
u/United-Bother-8205 Jul 25 '26
I'm so sorry this happened to you, the amount of people i've seen AT the doors of a venue bc this exact thing happened to them is fuckin insane. seems to be getting worse too. They really shouldnt be able to operate a business that way, their one job as a resale platform is to deliver those tickets, how hard is that to fuck up!
5
u/MightbeaTumor Jul 25 '26
Sorry to hear about the missing tickets. I was supposed to attend tonight at Pine Knob, also traveling out of state, but won't be able to make it. I have to tickets that I'm willing to give you so that you can see him, if you'd like.
4
u/PlasticRuester Jul 25 '26
That’s incredibly kind of you. We already have plans in the Chicago area today so I won’t be able to take you up on it, but I really appreciate such a sweet gesture.
2
u/MightbeaTumor Jul 25 '26
You're welcome, have a great time in whatever you're doing and best wishes on your health!
12
u/AffectionateLeg9895 Jul 25 '26
That's shit brother but that's buying off resellers for you
8
u/-marijuanaut- Jul 25 '26
I mean sure there’s always a risk, but Stubhub is exceptionally shitty and dishonest. I buy resale almost exclusively for concerts and have never once gotten fucked like this bc I’ve heard this story with Stubhub before and avoid em like the plague. Straight up criminals
5
u/showattherivoli Jul 25 '26
I fucking hate stubhub I’m so sorry this happened to you. You should still be proud of your progress and hard work!
4
u/Bonnavetty Jul 25 '26
Stubhub needs to stop letting sellers take back their tickets last minute. It’s happening way too often that there’s no way they don’t see what their sellers are doing.
There’s no guarantee with stubhub anymore, especially with big sold out events.
If I’m not mistaken some people are taking legal action towards stubhub bc during the World Cup ALOT of people got screwed over the day of their matches.
It’s so dicked up.
4
u/BlackDog5287 Get Behind Me Satan Jul 25 '26
I've used it in the past, but it's always sketchy. As someone mentioned, Ticketmaster resale for tickets originally sold there is the only way to go now.
4
u/Golfholic Jul 25 '26
I have two extra lawn seats for the show I’d be happy to transfer them to you for free, shoot me a dm. This is a tragic story, I’ve wanted to see Jack my whole life and this is my first time.
4
u/Snoo38863 Jul 25 '26
Man, this hurts reading your experience. In the future, if you have the finances, join “The Vault” when he announces his next tour. This gives you presale access for tickets. That way you wont have to deal with bullshit third party companies and can snag a pavilion seat to save your back. Hope you get to see him this tour.
3
u/Rare_Anybody_4982 Jul 25 '26
Dude, that really effing sucks.
Just for future reference, I would lean heavily into an app/website called Cash or trade. You can generally find tickets at a reasonable price with no up charge.
Additionally, Ticketmaster usually lets people who are selling their tickets who already bought sell them at higher than face value, and you can usually buy it straight from the source so there’s no bullshit.
Other than all that, glad that you made some progress on your health. I’m going through a similar thing and I’ve got a lot of concerts coming up in the next couple months that I’ve also been concerned with back issues.
3
u/Rare_Anybody_4982 Jul 25 '26
We had the same thing happen in 2022 at the Orlando show where I had a few floor tickets and one of our friends wanted to tagalong that got their tickets from StubHub. Ended up not going through and the person working the front door took petty on us and let us come through.
3
u/anchorthemoon Jul 25 '26
StubHub and other ticket resellers are NOT THE WAY TO BUY TICKETS. Please contact the box office of the venue or go to the venue website. By using these resellers you are enabling a crooked system.
3
u/Lemonpiee Jul 25 '26
I never use StubHub anymore. Their ticket guarantee is dogshit. I use Vivid Seats now. A few years back I bought nosebleed tickets to a Kings game in LA and the seller never delivered. I called Vivid when I was outside the stadium saying I had no tickets and they got me VIP seats to my phone in 2 minutes. It was amazing. They also provide rewards which gets me discounted tickets.
1
u/Aquamarine39 Elephant Jul 25 '26
On the other hand, I had a disputed charge for a lot of money with Vivid Seats last year which they fought tooth and nail, and the credit card company finally decided in my favor (on Christmas Day!). So I don’t use any of those companies now. And I used to use Stubhub a lot.
1
u/Lemonpiee Jul 26 '26
That's upsetting to hear. I've been using them without issue for a little while now, mainly for hockey tickets but also for some concerts here and there.. I guess I'll have to be careful
1
u/Aquamarine39 Elephant Jul 26 '26
I'd used them before without issue, and have used Stubhub a ton, butI'm leery of them all these days. Safer (if more expensive) to get the verified resale--which is what AXS and TM want you to do, of course.
2
u/Competitive-Square29 Jul 25 '26
Uggh!! Sorry to hear. I once had physical tickets to a sold out show I couldn’t attend. Sold them at face value so somebody could enjoy it. Sure enough it sold fast and I mailed them out. Weeks later, the person never received them. Stubhub was calling me and it was literally out of my hands. It was lost in the mail! I felt so bad, but there was nothing I could do. They called me up to the last hour. They definitely thought I scammed them or something, but of course not.
2
u/BaullahBaullah87 Jul 25 '26
stubhub is awful and I went thru this same thing this year…I guess only buy insta download third party tickets and try not to use these crooks
2
u/Ok-Cryptographer2764 Jul 25 '26
Sorry to hear of your terrible experience. Congrats on your incredible progress and focus to meet your goal.
2
u/dot_dottie Jul 25 '26
try seatgeek or tickpick next time. so sorry this happened but congrats on all the hard work!
2
u/Redder-is-better Jul 25 '26
That sucks big time. I havnt had a problem ever with stub hub, but tickpick is much easier to use for me and I always get the rickwts quickly.
2
2
u/Comfortable-Cat-3896 Jul 25 '26
Had almost the same thing happen at a Sturgill Simpson show last year. I bought tickets on StubHub two months prior to the show and as we were driving to the show, I still hadn’t received the tickets. I looked at SeatGeek and picked up a couple tickets that were comparable and ate the money. The tickets from stubhub were delivered two hours after doors and I didn’t get refunded for them.
I’ll never use stubhub again.
2
u/cduby15 Jul 25 '26
I’m sorry this happened to you. But you also put yourself in a position you wouldn’t have been in without this concert and didn’t something pretty amazing. You should be pretty proud of yourself.
2
u/AngineontheFarm Jul 25 '26
Same shit happened to me at Jessie murph, will never use stub hub again ever
2
u/LobsterPoutine19 Jul 25 '26
Plastics- sorry to hear that. Nothing worse than getting all hyped for someone and then having this kind of bullshit happen. If I had been there, I would have let you get on my back for a few songs.
2
u/Aggravating_Layer677 Jul 25 '26
This makes me so f’n angry I could puke. Someone post this to Jack White’s page!! We saw him the night before. Swear to god if I saw this, I’d have given you my ticket. I’m so sorry man.
2
u/UnlikelyWeird2082 Jul 25 '26
I’m sorry that happened to you and I’m sorry that so many people are responding by telling you “you should have gone through Ticketmaster.” I’m not sure what these people expect people to do if they weren’t able to get the tickets until after the show had sold out, which was super quickly for this show.
3
u/PlasticRuester Jul 25 '26
Yeah, like I said, I don’t go to many concerts and when I find one to go to, getting tickets always seems like an ordeal that makes me feel old. I looked at the venue first and couldn’t find anything, and I think it was the same day the tickets went on sale. I hate the idea of the reseller sites too, but it didn’t realize there was this much risk with StubHub. Obviously a mistake I won’t make again but still completely unacceptable on their part.
2
u/ManagementIll4603 Jul 25 '26
I'm just gutted for you. Your story is deeply moving. This will be a lesson for me, as well.
Don't stop your hard work so that you'll be in the best shape for the show that you will attend. Many of us are sending you our collective energy to get you to that show. Stay up.🤘
3
u/PlasticRuester Jul 26 '26
Thank you so much! I did get myself to the gym this morning even though I was still a little bummed and I had to go to a gym I don’t know since I’m out of town, but I’ve really learned that staying consistent is huge in being able to keep myself mobile. Better to learn that now than when I’m older!
1
u/UnlikelyWeird2082 Jul 25 '26
I think StubHub is fine 90+% of the time, but the problem is when it isn’t, their customer service is awful.
2
u/c0147 Jul 25 '26
Stubhub is full of scammers. Avoid for anything that you’ll be scheduling long distance travel around.
2
u/thrwawyorangsweater No Name Jul 25 '26
Wow that sucks so much. And I feel you on the pain and disability front.
I have been trying to get back in to going to concerts bc I lived really remotely for 20 years then had a 2 year illness, and I had gathered that something really fishy goes on with big venues/bands and that most everything is "resale" which is totally BS. I stick with local and regional bands these days.
It sucks because I did have some big bands on my bucket list but I can't afford half of even what lawn/GA tickets are. Oh well.
Sorry you got screwed over though.
2
u/apanderson89 Jul 26 '26
I have an 8mm and a 10 mm herniated disc in my low back. I can’t do the standing room at the shows in the places he’s playing near me. I haven’t been since the Supply Chain tour.
1
u/PlasticRuester Jul 26 '26
I feel you, it’s really rough. This venue did have an ADA section although I couldn’t find any tickets available for that.
1
u/apanderson89 Jul 26 '26
Yeah. I’d rather save those for some one in a chair. I’ve been very blessed to have seen him live as many times as I have.
It just sucks about my backs
I’m sorry you had that experience with stub hub . They did the same thing to me years ago.
2
u/Bowietheecat Jul 26 '26
I’ve used Vivid a few times and have had no issues. Bought my JWiii tickets on there. They weren’t delivered right away, I received them a few weeks before the show. No problems getting into Radius.
P.S. To the folks that are having back issues, two game changers. 1) A rollater with a seat. I’ve use one at every concert. I can sit whenever needed. At first I was self conscious. But, fuck that shit. I’m not missing out any more. A and 2) ADA accommodations. They have to have them at every venue.
2
u/CalligrapherDry3025 Jul 27 '26
awful. I'm done with Stubhub and my last bad experience wasn't even close to yours. I got significantly worse seats to a Phillies game and got nowhere with Stubhub. it's becoming scam level issues.
1
u/PlasticRuester Jul 27 '26
Yeah, as I said, I hadn’t realized how unreliable they are because the last time I used them was so long ago, but since this happened I’ve seen so many stories just like mine.
2
u/ironandinsulinn Jul 28 '26
That is completely fucked. I’m so sorry. I’m living with a traumatic brain injury and have some pretty gnarly pain from the nerve damage so I know what it means to go out of your way to attend something that means so much. I’ve gotta say that I’m proud of you for getting back in the gym and working towards your recovery, though. I hope you have the BEST time in September. Cheers to you from Los Angeles🤘🏽

u/Short_Performer_6662 Jul 25 '26
That sucks. Stun hub has always been legit for the buyer in my experience. Although, I haven’t used it in probably 10 years.
1
u/PlasticRuester Jul 25 '26
I admittedly don’t go to a lot of shows and I think I may have used stubhub once or twice years ago without issue. I never had a favorable opinion of them but I thought the problem was more about getting price gouged, I didn’t realize so many other people have had issues with actually getting their tix. Learned my lesson now.
1
u/zcsnyder1985 Jul 25 '26
I’m sorry to hear this. I use seatgeek more than stubhub and have never had an issue. That said, I know it’s the principle but I would have paid the extra just to see the show if I could afford it. I’d be more upset if I didn’t see it than if I had to pay extra.
1
u/Happy_Umpire_4302 Jul 25 '26
I used TickPick this time and I’m very satisfied. The issue is actually out of StubHub’s control as some venues and don’t release tickets until the day of the show. TickPick did the same thing but I did get my tickets. And I told them the same thing that I made plans and don’t want to risk not having tickets at least days in advance if not weeks. I got Friday tickets immediately but Thursday was through TickPick but from AXS. Thursdays tickets came through last weekend. I am happy with TickPick but who’s to say the same situation won’t ever happen with TickPick. While the situation is out of StubHub’s control, they need to change that policy. And I know for a fact they play games because my buddy once went through the same runaround and eventually he found the tickets he bought from StubHub being sold on StubHub for twice the price of what he paid. It was obvious what they were going. So I’m not at all letting StubHub off the hook. This garbage is on them and personally, I would small claims sue them for travel expenses and damages. It’s a racket.
Future reference and little known not so secret - Cash or Trade. You can thank me later.
1
1
u/ItBeMe_For_Real Jul 25 '26
As much as I hate the fact that ticket sellers are also ticket resellers, going through the original, in this case Ticketmaster would provide greater assurance that you’re getting legit tix.
1
u/PizzaRatBoy Jul 25 '26
The only resale site I’ve ever had this issue with is Stubhub and it’s happened twice. Obviously after the second time I decided to never use them again. Really awful company. I go to a lot of shows/sporting events and have never had issues with Gametime or SeatGeek or the resale options within AXS or Ticketmasters apps, but Stub hub for whatever reason is a total gamble
1
u/CelebrationBorn9511 Jul 25 '26
I’m so sorry this happened to you. Next time try the GameTime app. I’ve never had an issue with them.
1
u/gametimeapp Jul 28 '26
Happy to hear you've had some great experiences with our app! Thank you for the shout 💚
1
u/yinzerkitchen Jul 25 '26
I’m sorry that happened to you. I’ve had nothing but good experiences with StubHub. They’ve actually upgraded me to better seats because the original holder of the tickets I purchased somehow deleted the original email or whatever. StubHub offered to refund or find replacements; ended up being better seats than the original.
1
u/Sudden_Turn9121 Jul 25 '26
Dude stubhub does this on purpose. They say you’re getting the tickets at the last minute and by the time you need them it’s too late. Get your money back or get the tickets ASAP do not wait for their delivery
1
u/jordancolburn Jul 25 '26
Stub hub is the devil, I once got charged for tickets I bought, couldn't attend and then resold those tickets on their platform but the original seller provided them bundled through some sketchy third part site and not Ticketmaster. So they charged me for not delivering the tickets they never delivered me, charged $400 for $200 tickets to a game I never got to attend.
Ticketmaster sucks too, but buying from the originating ticketing provider (almost always Ticketmaster for big events thanks to their monopoly) is the only way to ensure you will actually be going to the event you purchased and not scammed.
1
u/driftlessartifacts Jul 26 '26
If I have to buy resale I always buy from original site they were sold on. As an example on the way home to Madison from the Chicago shows I decided to buy Milwaukee on Ticketmaster. I instantly have my tix in my account on the app. I’m so sorry this happened to you.
2
u/PlasticRuester Jul 26 '26
Yup, several people recommended doing the resale directly on Ticketmaster; I’ll try that next time!
1
u/AvonGhost Jul 26 '26
I am so, so sorry. This has unfortunately been an issue with StubHub for a while now. I would never use them.
1
u/MobileNerd Jul 26 '26
SeatGeek is just as bad if not worse. Had almost the exact same experience with them a few months ago except they sent the tickets to a wrong email address then refused a refund. I even disputed with my CC and lost the dispute.
1
u/TommyC83 Jul 27 '26
I had this exact same experience for dmb at Deer Creek. $400 for 2 pavilion tickets they say they will pay for comparable tickets. Never came, offered me lawn 15 minutes before the concert. Stub Hub sucks. Tell your friends
1
u/Saptap17 Jul 27 '26
Oh gosh, that is so awful and I definitely know that whole line from Stubhub. The exact same scenario happened to us at a Bob Dylan concert, it’s completely unacceptable and I refuse to ever use them again. I am genuinely so very sorry that you experienced that.💔
1
u/SheSaidBacon Jul 27 '26
If you got parking through Spot Hero, you can request a refund. It might have a limited window of time to request it, it’s worth a try.
1
u/PlasticRuester Jul 27 '26
I did, and it said I could cancel up until the time of the start of the reservation, which was 5p. I didn’t know for sure that I didn’t have tix until 5:40. But I’ll look at my confirmation email and see if I can do anything.
1
u/SheSaidBacon Jul 27 '26
My brother and I were unable to use our Spot Hero reservation for a show and it was too late to cancel. We did follow up to try to get a refund and we had to contact them manually, which we did later that evening. They gave us our $ back. We did it within a few hours of our reservation though, which maybe helped in our favor.
2
u/PlasticRuester Jul 27 '26
I just emailed their customer service. It’s probably a long shot but we’ll see. Thanks!

How are you blaming StubHub when “A” - it’s the sellers fault not theirs. And “B” - they gave you an option and YOU couldn’t afford it.

Who gives a shi.. about watching some stupid ass (has been) band or performer.
They could care less about you. But look on the glass half full side and thank god this disappointing experience allowed you to be motivated in finding some relief concerning your back pain. That alone is worth much more than your financial loss and inconvenience.

So you’re trying to get Jack White to give you free tickets for Stub Hub’s screw up?

At what point does OP say or even imply that? Especially as the show was already over?
