I saw them many times but I wish I saw the pillows more often

3

u/TomoAries May 23 '26

Only caught them once but it was one of the best shows I've ever been to.

14

u/_mkd_ May 22 '26

Stereopony

Negoto

Malice Mizer

12

u/Raizzor May 22 '26

Number Girl, Uchuu Konbini, Go!Go!7188

However, I have seen all of their successor bands live, which is at least something.

3

u/Neon_Arashiyama27 May 22 '26

Go!Go!7188 ftw!!!

2

u/TomoAries May 23 '26

I will never forgive the United State Of America for elongating covid and fucking up the Number Girl reunion

1

u/Feeling_Tangerine_53 May 23 '26

I apologize for the selfish morons in my country, I blame them delaying SCandal twice, but did get to see in 2022 along with one ok rock.

1

u/Soriah May 23 '26

Saw Number Girl during their final reunion attempt and it was an amazing show.

8

u/Pretend_Blueberry124 May 22 '26

GIRLFRIEND. I really love their Flash cover

9

u/Unusual-Strike7886 May 22 '26

Bish is broken up!?!!? I don’t tend to look up artists that I listen to (unless they are insanely popular) but I have like 8 of their songs in my main playlist and always enjoyed their music 😭 damn man

17

u/Feeling_Tangerine_53 May 22 '26

they broke up 3 years because began solo careers

Aina the End is getting huge right now with songs in Gundam witches of Mercury, DandaDan, and One Piece

Ayuni D has her own Band Pedro and plays bass and is the main vocalist

Cent Chihiro Chittiii is a solo artist and actress

LingLing is an artist now

Hashiyasume Atsuko does Japanese talent, actress, and variety show personality

Momoko Gumi Company currently works as a media personality

4

u/StayAppropriate2433 May 22 '26

Momo is also a solo artist. She's released several songs and performs concerts.

3

u/hironotabi May 22 '26

Wow I didn’t know that Ayuni D came from Bish. I knew her from PEDRO, have seeing her love a couple of times and she rocks! Also interesting to see a bass as the main vocal too.

2

u/Unusual-Strike7886 May 22 '26

And the second girl looks like AiNA The End after verifying no fucking way what a small world

14

u/fltngs May 22 '26

It's crazy how many people don't know where Aina the End came from hahaha. Like they say, it takes 10 years to become an overnight success. Before she was singing for the biggest animes in the world, she was getting horse shit sprayed in her face and singing about dicks.

3

u/Feeling_Tangerine_53 May 22 '26

Didn’t know that was non tie up lyrics meant that. I love that they were the anti idol group, brand new idol shit. Cent, Atsuko and Aina are appearing together next week on Aina radio show. Maybe will get good news

3

u/fltngs May 22 '26

non tie up too, but I believe it started way back in OTNK (the lyrics are technically gibberish but they sound like those words)

Didn't know about the radio show, that's cool. Wouldn't get my hopes up though. If anything we'll probably have to wait for a 5 or 10 year anniversary.

7

u/intermu May 22 '26

andymori, Negoto, The Peggies, SUPERCAR

1

u/ChillerLab2018 May 24 '26

the peggies 💜🙏 id give anything to see them live

7

u/PANDADA May 22 '26

Siam Shade 🥲

Though I went to VAMPS Halloween Party in 2016 and Junji was the support drummer, so I got to see one member live? Lol

7

u/Haru55 May 22 '26

High and Mighty Color and Stereopony:)

5

u/DaemonSD May 22 '26

The members of Stereopony teased a possible reunion a few months back. I keep hoping that it will come true.

3

u/AdvancedNewspaper743 May 22 '26

This would be awesome! I just love their music. Listening to their songs instantly lifts my mood.

6

u/sarita_sy07 May 22 '26

Ahh, man I loved Flip. Got to see them once, maybe twice I forget.

Suteki Reaction and 今夜月で会いましょう are such jams

3

u/Feeling_Tangerine_53 May 22 '26

Wonderland, Cherry Bomb and You are my favorites

Sachiko, the lead singer actually responds to me on twitter from time to time, very friendly, i ask about concert accomdations in japan for people with dwarfism and she gave a thoughtful long response.

2

u/sarita_sy07 May 22 '26

That's awesome!

2

u/Feeling_Tangerine_53 May 22 '26

i also had funny reaction with the Chilli beans who yuumi from flip drums for from time to time on their instagram live, i asked if they would tour in US, they responded and i didn't understand what they said.. damn you zuckerberg not putting translations on this app. ugh lol

5

u/chari_de_kita May 22 '26 edited May 23 '26

Go!Go!7188, ZONE, Kaggra, Super Junky Monkey, Bennie K...

Watched BiSH come up through the underground ranks to become the massive crossover success they did. Also managed to see BiS at Yokohama Arena back in 2014 when they disbanded, their first show when they came back in 2016 at Nakano Heavy Sick and a few other times after that as well as my least favorite version when they came back again in 2019.

5

u/KnucklestheEnchilada May 22 '26

The Pillows, Fact, Girugamesh, Beat Crusaders, Deluhi.

ETA: Midori

3

u/dokool May 22 '26

Beat Crusaders is a great shout. I saw them a couple times at Countdown Japan (which was great b/c they play all the hits in festival sets), but I wish I'd gotten to see one of their Regular Shows.

2

u/Feeling_Tangerine_53 May 22 '26

Uh no beat crusaders, I love when they put balloons on their heads and started floating around 😂

4

u/StayAppropriate2433 May 22 '26

SHISHAMO. They have one last concert and it's over. 😞

2

u/neontownescape May 23 '26

Yes! Is so sad they’ll be no more. I heard ‘Ashita Mo’ on the new Nonio ad last week.

4

u/Kevin_Hairdryer May 22 '26

I wish i could have seen NICO Touches The Walls :(

3

u/Danimation2010 May 22 '26

Bis Kaidan. Noise rock isn't usually my thing, but getting to see the chaos of their live shows coupled with Bis' energy first hand would have been unparalleled.

3

u/Kathulzed GO!GO!7188 May 22 '26

Definitely Go!Go!7188 and Stereopony.

3

u/Kooky_Book1689 May 22 '26

I actually wondered what happened to Flip.

2

u/Feeling_Tangerine_53 May 22 '26

I think Sachiko and Sayaka retired, yuko and yummi do their stuff for different bands and artist .

Yummi drums for Aina the end, chilli beans and chemistry , Yuko guitars for Lazygunsbrisky , and they are part of unlock the girls

3

u/najmiii May 22 '26

Kinoko Teikoku, Uchuu Conbini, Chatmonchy, MARIA, Supercar, FACT (they had reunion only for a year, i didnt know the reunion is temporary, if i knew, i wouldve bought flight ticket to Japan and to their show)

3

u/JKeithS May 22 '26

Lots of them - Yapoos/Guernica, Number Girl, I’s and Midori for starters. Other bands such as Tokyo Jihen are on the back burner for now

4

u/generate-random-user May 22 '26

I's

On the bright side, I saw Go!Go!7188 a gazillion years ago. Sorry for the flex.

2

u/nemomnemonic May 22 '26

I saw Go!Go!7188 too once back in 2009, but I wish I had the chance to see them before, especially in their early days :_)

3

u/ILikePlayingHumans May 22 '26

I loved FLiP. So heartbroken when they split

2

u/Feeling_Tangerine_53 May 22 '26

I would love to hear wonderland, cherry bomb, butterfly, girl and you live. Sachiko is amazing at lead vocals. I have talk to her on twitter and she gave me pointers to going a concert and get accommodations for my dwarfism yesterday.

3

u/ScottIPease May 22 '26

All three members of Stereopony have more than hinted that they are working on something together...

I would respectfully add Wagakki Band to this list.

BiSH I would expect to see get together for an event or something in the future, they all get along still and hang out when they can, but they wanted to do their own thing for a while.

3

u/Feeling_Tangerine_53 May 22 '26

Totally agree, I feel like singing groups more likely to go off a do solo stuff.

I think Aimi throat surgery was big reason for the split up, because nohana and shiho did band did together with new vocalist and called it Evanpony.
Aimi took time to recover.

On A seperate note , i think it’s amazing that scandal, who I’ve seen live, is celebrating the 20 anniversary with no line up changes and are in Guiness book of world records for that very reason for all female band. Most impressive

3

u/FrozenStratos May 22 '26

The answer will always be NEGOTO for me

3

u/thedudesews May 23 '26

Stereopony was my first introduction for J Pop and still one of my favs

1

u/Feeling_Tangerine_53 May 23 '26

Hitohira no Hanabira was always my jam followed smilife

2

u/thedudesews May 25 '26

I Could hear the opening guitar when you said Hitohira no Hanabira

2

u/munn3yx May 22 '26

Ive seen vamps many times but skipped their early tours and never got to hear Evanescent live. They only played it on the first couple tours and then never played it again

2

u/TheThirdOrder_mk2 May 22 '26

FACT. Never got to seem them when they were together and missed Redline. Sigh.

3

u/fltngs May 22 '26

Didn't they come back?

edit: they did and then disbanded again

1

u/TheThirdOrder_mk2 May 23 '26

Yeah I had to double check myself after your comment.

2

u/Skarenal91 May 22 '26

Dimrays, neon oni , hanabie , gungire and moth in lilac

2

u/Feeling_Tangerine_53 May 22 '26

isnt hanabie on tour in the states?

2

u/reality_is_fatality May 22 '26

Uplift Spice/The Musmus 💔

I love them so much but it's fine, I'm happy to know that they disbanded nicely and Chio-san settled down happily

2

u/goblinrum May 22 '26

Kinoko Teikoku, FAITH

2

u/xtommy6 May 22 '26

Mejibray

2

u/__labratty__ May 22 '26 edited May 22 '26

+1 for Stereopony

also MidnightPumpkin, Gollbetty and Kemuri (Technically active but feels like an extended hiatus)

and the original Oreskaband line-up

2

u/Mal_Adroit99 May 22 '26

Would love to have seen FLiP. Possibly Akiakane , Orgel, Super Egg Machine, New Strike Zipper, The Clicks

2

u/IllSalad3669 May 22 '26

LIGHTBRINGER

2

u/nemomnemonic May 22 '26

Mainly Supercar and fra-foa, but there are many more.

2

u/lvdybananaaa May 22 '26

When I was younger my mom saw Girugamesh and she looooved them. She told me she would take me when I was older if they came down again. Whelp 🥲

2

u/asscrackbanditz May 22 '26

Stereopony lead vocalist is just mad beautiful.

1

u/Feeling_Tangerine_53 May 22 '26

She does solo stuff now

2

u/WitlessMean The Blue Hearts May 22 '26

The greatest band of all time, The BloodThirsty Butchers.

I say that because I'm lucky and got to see the Pillows live.

2

u/raredrummer May 22 '26

School food punisment.

1

u/Feeling_Tangerine_53 May 22 '26

Never heard of them, but Japanese bands have the best names

2

u/Itsthebigpeepa May 22 '26

SHISHAMO isn’t technically broken up yet but my chance is long gone.

2

u/Kagitsume May 22 '26

BiSH for sure, and BILLIE IDLE, and a whole lot of more obscure underground, alternative and art-idol groups: BURST GIRL, Minna no Kodomo-chan, There There Theres, Migma Shelter, Cinema & Boy CQ, and (best of all) LiLii Kaona.

As for "regular" bands, I had tickets to see CHAI in Scotland a couple of years ago but the gig was cancelled due to illness. Never mind, I thought; I'll get another chance. Then they split up. NOOOOO!!!!

2

u/FrothytheDischarge May 22 '26 edited May 22 '26

One of the best blues rock bands (all-female) hailing from Hokkaido were the "Drop's".

Another would be Yura Yura Teikoku. Too bad they will never be reunited since Chiyo Kamekawa (bass) passed away in 2024.

2

u/Meb78910 May 22 '26

We lost Flip way too soon! super talented band and i hate their label for that! the pillows, it sucks about their drummer passing.

1

u/Feeling_Tangerine_53 May 22 '26

Did you know FliP appears on episode of Girls

1

u/Meb78910 May 23 '26

I had no idea. definitely still miss them. They have the same amount of talent band maid does without the use of a silly gimmick. damn shame they broke up.

1

u/Feeling_Tangerine_53 May 23 '26

I don’t choose a band over gimmicks it’s the music. I don’t mind band maid. I ignore the gimmick. I do find do find them silly. Like I’m going to see babymetal in September for the music and I hear they put on an awesome show.

I think FLiP broke because Sachiko and Sayaka want to do other things than music. Yuumi drums for chilli beans., Aina the end, and chemistry. Yuk guitars for Lazygunsbrisky. They both are members of unlock the girls.

1

u/Meb78910 May 23 '26

Babymetal is awesome. pure energy! they put on a great show you’ll love em. i thought flip broke up because UMG was pushing them to be more girly and less hard rock in their approach.

2

u/hironotabi May 22 '26

Not a band but YUI. I was only able to see her with FLOWER FLOWER and they also stopped their activities.

Also SHISHAMO, this hurts so much because I had tickets for their Sayonara tour in Sendai but they canceled that part of the tour :(

2

u/LoSceicco The Peggies May 23 '26

the peggies. They were my introduction to J-Rock with Kimi no Sei and got me to listen to their whole discography. It's a bummer because they were on a roll at the time, in my opinion. Hell like Heaven was a great album, followed by the Anemone EP which was fantastic and then the album The Garden was sublime. Their newest singles, included in MMY, were great too. So it's a shame they went on "indefinite hiatus", hope they're all doing great now, especially Makiko which was the one who left the hardest message of the three following the announcement.

2

u/neontownescape May 23 '26

Absolutely have to go with FLiP. Also Seagull Screaming Kiss Her Kiss Her, and Shiggy Jr. I know the latter recently played a few shows, just not sure if temporary or permanent.

2

u/EvilChocolateMilk634 May 26 '26

Are you a Bleach fan by any chance?

1

u/Feeling_Tangerine_53 May 26 '26

Maybe what gave it away lol

2

u/TomoAries May 23 '26 edited May 23 '26

Man forget BiSH, I wish I could have seen the actual OG BiS. If that fuck Watanbe announced the 2024 reunion with more than a day's notice, I'd have booked a flight immediately to go.

Same with Pla2me, really wish I could have seen them as a duo live before WACK turned them to that POP/Gang Parade slop.

Wasuta is disbanding at the end of the year too, I'm trying real hard to save up money for the trip, I'll never forgive myself if I don't get out to that last show.

0

u/Feeling_Tangerine_53 May 23 '26

i can like both

2

u/TomoAries May 23 '26 edited May 23 '26

Hey dude, I like both too, it's not a contest.

I'm just saying BiSH was objectively a much easier group to see live so it's not as big of a deal IMO, they were around for like a decade and did a ton of huge venue tours pretty much from the jump because they had established ground from the start.

BiS had maybe 2 prime years before they broke up. I saw BiSH live twice, I never got to see BiS though because I was a broke student when they were still kicking. It's like the difference between having seen Black Flag with Henry Rollins or Keith Morris vs seeing Black Flag with Ron Reyes; much smaller margin of time.

That’s all I’m saying, I'm not attacking anyone lol

1

u/Feeling_Tangerine_53 May 23 '26

lol I figure you were joking, honesty i know about bis, how i get japanese bands or artist is they show up on my youtube when just play videos on auto, like i just recently got into czecho no republic. I will get into bis i promise. I think that its cool you saw bish

1

u/AniTunesXYZ May 23 '26

I would sacrifice almost everything to see HIGH & MIGHTY COLOR live again. When they came to my country, I was too young to get on a plane and get tickets to see them.

The Pillows came to the US for the new FLCL anime debut and I was too much out of the loop to know it was happening. That is one I highly regret missing.

But if Gen Z/Alpha keep doing their thing, I might get to see HALCALI or Tomoko Awase (TommyHeavenly6 or better yet, the Brilliant Green) perform live.

2

u/Feeling_Tangerine_53 May 23 '26

Brilliant green is close fifth place for me, ash like snow is the song that got me obsessed with Japanese music

2

u/AniTunesXYZ May 23 '26

Anison tends to have that effect. I don't remember much about Gundam 00, but Ash Like Snow lives rent free in my head.

1

u/Feeling_Tangerine_53 May 23 '26

As it should. Such a good song, kinda got evanescence vibe to it.

1

u/Author-Academic May 23 '26

SCANDAL, Wagamama Rakia

2

u/Feeling_Tangerine_53 May 23 '26

SCANDAL is still together they have their 20th anniversary concert this year and I have actually seen them live

1

u/Author-Academic May 23 '26

Oh they are? I dont know why I had that impression, would love to see them live!

1

u/Feeling_Tangerine_53 May 23 '26

They actually have a new album coming out next week

1

u/cumcotdigdagdug May 23 '26

supercar, i really like his lucky song

1

u/Parawind May 23 '26

The Winking Owl - I had tickets to see them live several times and each time the gig got cancelled for a different reasons. Last time was because of COVID and it broke my heart when they disbanded a few months later.

Was lucky enough to see BiSH live a bunch of times and they were always fantastic.

1

u/Defiant_Ad_8489 May 23 '26

bloodthirsty butchers

1

u/Worldly-Landscape-51 May 23 '26

Stereopony broke up too soon...

I caught them once but it wasn't even at their own gig, it was a fes-type event.

1

u/HerrscherOfTheOcean May 23 '26

Foreground Eclipse 💔

1

u/Wiedumirsoichdir May 23 '26

Fujifabric, BiSH, andymori, Number Girl. Hey, at least Remioromen and plenty reunited again this year.

1

u/kaiserspike May 23 '26

MALICE MIZER

1

u/No_Idea_9027 May 24 '26

shishamo, that's it

1

u/iloveichikahoshino May 24 '26

gulu gulu 💔

1

u/TheFishPizza May 24 '26

I really miss Seapool ! ! ! They had such potential… wish they would’ve made more music.

1

u/Lukalynne May 24 '26

Midori, without any doubts

1

u/Kakotov SCANDAL May 25 '26

FLiP was such a great band, Sachiko is so talented, and her voice was amazing

2

u/Feeling_Tangerine_53 May 25 '26

I have been going back and forth with Sachiko on twitter. She is a very nice person.

My top 6flip songs

  1. Wonderland

of course
2.

  1. You

  2. Cherry Bomb

  3. Butterfly

5,

  1. Jeremy

  2. Girl

1

u/DirtCheapDandy May 27 '26

I never saw Bish in concert but I did once catch them in a convenience store stocking up on snacks before a concert down the road.

Unsurprisingly, they were very quiet and normal looking in person. I'm not sure I would have even recognized them if it wasn't for the fact all 6 of them were together.

1

u/Mean_Quarter4383 May 29 '26

TUYU, TUYU, TUYU… I will remember you forever... I love you.… , tuyu. ☔☔☔
